I was raised around this music my dad is the lead singer of a Lynyrd skynyrd tribute band and I just love traveling with the band they are like my family and would never replace them I have to that Ronnie and all of the original members of skynyrd for allowing me to experience this connection and I hope I can show other how Magical this music is
Interesting choice you may like one of these songs: "was I right or wrong" " things going on" " all I can do is write about it in a song" ✌️♥️
Yes yes and yes...... go deep
"Was I right or wrong" is their absolute best underrated gem. It has that riff from 3 Steps but man what a story and a jam.
Excellent choice
"All I can do is write about it" love it! And four Walls of Raiford
All I Can Do 👍🏻 GREAT SONG !
All of these guys grew up in the south with a dream and drive to make music that was great. They accomplished that in the short carrer of the original members!!!
The Lynyrd Skynyrd of today is not the same band as they were in the 70s. People really forget exactly how great Lynyrd Skynyrd was back in the day. Ronnie VanZant was an amazing story teller and song writer. Every person in that band was a top tier musician and a master at their instrument. They were amazing and there will never be another band like them. Blackberry Smoke comes close IMO.
Late to this party but if you havent figured out by now , Ronnie was channeling his empathy for poor folk ( of any creed ) in a blues story who couldn't afford a funeral and had no collateral to put up to fund it . "Mr. Banker" is a song by American Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was recorded in early 1973 at Studio One, Doraville, Georgia, and was first released as the B-side of "Gimme Three Steps" (a U.S. single release) in November 1973. It was not featured on any album until the compilation album Legend in 1987. It was also included as a bonus track on the 2001 reissue of the band's debut album, (Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd).
The song was written by Ronnie Van Zant, Gary Rossington, and Ed King.[1]
Content
The song is notable for its lyrics and simple blues guitar riff. The song is sung by Ronnie Van Zant, about a man begging the bank for money to bury his father. Despite misconceptions, the song is not about Van Zant's father, Lacy Van Zant.[2]
Four Walls of Raiford is another deep song by Lynyrd Skynyrd I think you'd like. You might enjoy some of their more upbeat songs like "I Know A Little" and "Swamp Music" as well.
W take all of those are good songs
Please listen to Jamey Johnson's version of "Four Walls of Raiford"... the Dobro Player, Cowboy Eddie Long, is amazing!
Skynyrd is it. They sing the songs that move me.
My favorite of all time!! Nobody has what they had
Lynyrd Skynyrd is one the best American rock bands. Thank you for checking this one out, great song. I think you would also dig “Was I right or wrong.”
My Fav.....cannot believe it never got played on radio
Not just any guitar but a 1950 Les Paul.... Hey Thanks for respecting the Music, and respecting the greatest band ever
That's Muscle Shoals music right there! Excellent! Thanks for the reaction, this song is not a super widely known song and it's so good.
T for Texas, I Need You, Travellin Man. LIVE 1976
thank you for the genuine reaction to some good music
Ronnie the #1 storyteller in the business. can't think of anyone else that have written that many songs with such believable stories!
the Man was a legend to me all my life.
“Was I right or wrong”is one of the most powerful songs of all time
deep cut from their debut album, nice choice. I recommend Things Goin' On from the same album. first comment
This wasn't a deep cut. This was a demo that didn't make an album. They may have included it on the deluxe or remastered version but it wasn't originally on the album
I agree!! Things going on is my fav!! Billy Powell tears that piano up in that song!!
@@scottyray8004 He throws down on the honkey tonk like Thelonious Monk and Jerry Lee Lewis had a love child.
Someone may have mentioned it already. But this song was taken directly from their demo. And put on to the album. That's how good the producer felt their work was.
I love how you hear this music, with your heart. Ronnie VanZant made the soul to this amazingly talented band. And they made all this music is just a few years time.
It's fckn amazing what just a bottleneck slide guitar and a soulful voice can do to a body, heart, & soul 💓
Dobrow.
They wrote songs for the blue collar working people because that is how they defined theirselves.
Fours wall of raiford is another convincing song, hell I thought it was abt ronnie himself, but it's a good one..true one for sure.
Ed King on Slide guitar.
🎸💯🤯 Lynyrd Skynyrd is Southern Rock at its FINEST; but, "Mr. Banker" is so soulful & bluesy‼🔥🤟 Another great choice BizMatik! ❤
This is these guys playing what they know. Pure southern blues! This was the root of all rock 🎸. Nice pick!
LYNYRD SKYNYRD: "Cry For The Bad Man"
Love this song very underrated
Thanks for the deep dive hope you enjoy the skynyrd journey please keep listening this has been my favorite band since 1974. Next one gotta be THE 4 WALLS OF RAIFORD.
Please listen to Jamey Johnson's version of "Four Walls of Raiford"... the Dobro Player, Cowboy Eddie Long, is amazing!
This is one of their less known songs thank you for reacting to this one. You should check
Out their song Mississippi Kid or four walls of Rayford they are two more lesser know songs as well and good also.
Oh ya good shit
Yes. Both of those more obscure songs are phenomenal.
Lynyrd skynrd will give you words to live by.. Ronnie was a very wise mann... LOAD UP ON WISDOM
Don't you just love all those classics, still just as good today as back than. Love it, great reaction.
Awesome
Love Lynyrd Skynyrd his brothers do a fantastic Job too❤❤❤😊
But Lynyrd Skynyrd was something else I got to see the last concert me and my girlfriends were jailbait meaning underage but we had a good group of men with us❤❤❤❤
What an absolutely gifted talented family 💖❤❤❤❤❤
Love and miss y'all
Donnie Van Zant and Johnny Van Zant carry on
Ronnie Van Zant pass the torch who is Brothers what a talented talented family ❤️🙏🏽❤️❤️🤩
Ronnie Van Zant and all the others that did not survive rest in peace 🕊️🙏🏽🕊️
we talk everything music baby !!!!!!!!!!
Things Goin On is another song about humanity and speaks against politicians that don’t seem to care about the less fortunate.
This was just, Ronnie Ed & Gary.
The story telling is the blues
he pulling the shit out those strings in the beginning !
These dude be talking some real ish
@@watchbizmatik i see!
Not just a guitar but a Les Paul 1950....RVZ cut to the soul.
Ronnie had nodules on his vocal chords that sometimes flared up and I can sometimes hear it on some live shows. You’re right, his voice is just believable. This song just guts me. 😢
fucking real blues by a great southern band !!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is probably my favorite of their songs... they have SO many good ones, but this one just hits home for me. Happy to see someone else discovering it and really feeling it.
As a long time fan of Skynyrd since 1973 this has always been one of my favorite songs from them ♥️ Check out their song “Georgia Peaches” next!
This is one of my FAVORITES
Great choice, this is among my top ten Skynyrd songs. I'd like you to check out a couple of my absolute favorites, Am I Losing, and I Need You
4 guitar players you will hear. They had 3 in the band. First it was Ed King, Allen Collins and Gary Rossington. Ed left and they did an album with only Gary and Allen but were missing the 3 guitar army sound and found Steve Gaines to fill the empty guitar spot.
gimmie back my bullets had only two
Sings with passion
So the best part of this story is when you do a little digging, a 1950 Les Paul guitar would have been the very first Les Paul made and it would be worth $300-400k. Didn't even know what he had!!
Thats crazy
Great reaction
POISON WHISKEY might be their best song.
Have not heard that one for a long time...thanks!
And another one 🔥🔥🔥🔥 review fam!!!
And I just want to say, on the “Sweet Home Alabama” issue ..... yes, I’m sure you have heard it, surely the hook is one you know .... but did you know it contains possibly the very first straight up CALLED OUT diss in music history??? You may have even heard the line, and I would bet it didn’t really mean anything because you maybe don’t know the back story .... and to truly understand ... this hurts to actually type what I’m about to type .... you have to first listen to “Southern Man” by .., Neil Young .... damn it my thumb just burst into flames!!!! 🤦♀️😂😂😂 And now that I think about it, NY could have been the very first victim of “cancelled” ... well at least in the South anyway 😜😂😂😂😎 THEN when you “hear” it in Sweet Home Alabama it will make sense 😉
All right, now that I have gone way overboard in the explanation department (and I don’t even think it’s my first time ... on this particular subject 🤷♀️) I’m just gonna hop on outta here now 🤦♀️😂
💞
Now do "Four walls of Raiford." :)
Listen to the way it sounds!
Ronnie probably never had to worry about a home when he was growing up and his daddy did not die before he did up but he knew how to make it sound real because he was real about what he loved in the music ..This song never was released when he was alive , it was an outtake form the session in 73 .. ''Was I Right Or Wrong'' is another deep track you may want to listen to without a video ,just a listen anyways..
Thank You for this Great deep track ...Here is another deep track that I personally love ...."Made in the shade" ...this song cracks me up!
You're going deep. This was a demo that didn't originally make an album. Was added after they were remastered
Things Going On is a big time song from Skynyrd in my book!
In NY we had Potters field for indigent people
Yo bro i could see it in your face . i read face expression . my job & cant hear good. Yes the band & their music strikes emotion! Van zant is the wizzard behind the words! the feeling! the band the sound. He was a prefectionist hard driving boss of the band. Practiced harded worked harder than any band. This bands road schedual was nuts . most of the music is about the bands hard times for 7 years as poor bar band. Van zant & band the words are their life. Pretty much. With maybe little made up. The more u listen the more u will like. It will turn too love in your soul if listen to it regulary? This is the greatest music group of any kind any were. The staying power old jam. The emition it brings out . without being to dirty.
You should listen to the first song they wrote, it's called Need All My Friends.
Loved your reaction, very insightful, was for common person.may have commented wrong on album, 1 album had previously unreleased material after crash, forget which one. Hope some Skynyrd fan comments. CHRIST Jesus bless you and yours ✝️🛐✡️
If you want a another great blues by Lynyrd Skynyrd? React to The Four Wall of Raiford. Prison blues. As great as this one. Trust me!
Yes like the Joan Deb said great choice and the songs he recommended for what I mentioned in another video reaction the not so regularly played not even played some on the radio great jams
Right or wrong is a underground classic by lynyrd skynyrd!
My 2nd favorite song.
Don’t Ask Me No Questions is another banger!!
U want emotion same old blues, trust searching, railroad song, one more time, last but not least traveling man! The u tube video. live from england kensburo fair i think just rediculous the sound. Just vanzant & the girls mainly guitars back burner big bass! Kick butt sound! Any man any american can relate to the jam. Any age just give it a chance . i think the lord gave ronnie special super regular talant. Yes his voice confusses u. Regular super human. Timing style never a mistake. Under control manly mans man.
I had a family member who’s husband died. The funeral home told her they wouldn’t touch him without $5000 up front.
You said it about your opinion after simple man reaction. Listen to ...Was I right or wrong. It’s deep as well with a great message about choices. You’ll like it.
I want to hear your reaction to Gordon Lightfoot the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Listen to the studio version. And have the lyric sheet in front of you. You seem to be into really deep moving stories. I want to see if this brings you to tears or not
Was i right our wrong, need to give a listen!!!
Hey man I love this song!! I clicked on your vid just becouse I saw this song! I havnt seen this one dun yet by anybody else. Good job on getting this one before all the others!
That guitar today would buy a house and car and a nice headstone.
Biz, try "Four Walls of Raiford".
Great bluesy tune by them try was I right or wrong Haunting man
potters field , three deep in unmarked graves
Ronnie the singer was a big fan of Son House. Checkout Son House Death Letter Blues
CASH!!! THEY DO NOT FINANCE A FUNERAL. A LOT OF TIMES THEY WILL HOLD A BENEFIT TO HELP WITH THE FUNERAL EXPENSES!
Paupers grave :-) !!!! Got mine picked out :-) !! But I'm Pure Class :-) **** Anyhoo Peace People and God Bless you and Yours from your White Brother and Promoter from not so Sunny England :-) !!!
Bro, gotta hit Mississippi kid, you'll like it.
Can you imagine what a 1950 Les Paul guitar is worth?
Awesome song
Other Skynyrd songs .. WINO ..JUNKIE .. Cry for a bad man .. FOUR Walls of raiford ..was I right or wrong .. Georgia Peaches ..Cheating Woman.. MISSISSIPPI KID
I don't think I could give up a Les Paul guitar someone else is gonna have to bury him 🤘
I’m at 6:48 and it’s crazy cause I’m 13 and my dad like never constantly played the songs around me he played like one before I knew who the band was I might’ve been 6 or 7 and we were fencing in a pasture and I heard simple man and we were using a MP3 player plugged up to a small speaker and we were just going thru playlist not playing songs over and over but after it played I went to it and played it again and I fell in love and ya I love all different kinds of old music like 50s to 80s country some southern rock all of lynrd skynrd and some others but if my dad died and I didn’t have money or nothing I’d ask for a shovel and get to digging cause idc if it takes while I’ll dig a grave 6foot deep to bury my father anyway lol imma finish this video,
6:39 Potters field is the answer to your question and a great song by anthrax that you should review.
check out the four walls of rafford
Speaking of country music, I have the ultimate country song for ya. "Chiseled in Stone" by Vern Gosdin...good story and great message.
Had he took the guitar today the banker would have made a LOT of money!
Dig a big hole and throw that mo fo in there? Still laughing, that's Awesome!
If Ronnie tells you a chicken can pull a train, you better hitch it up.
Damn a song I never heard by them! Good one... did we listen to I Need You, yet?
How did you miss MR BANKER
@@derrickgoodwin6192 that is a good question, without a good answer..😬
my God I envy you. What I would give to come across an early skynyrd song that I had never heard before.......
@@grahamstuart9432 I just looked at the year it was released, That was around the time I had discovered Pink Floyd.... Dark Side of the Moon (on repeat), Led Zeppelin, The Stones. Southern rock wasn’t on my radar, yet.
Skynyrd was great at the blues...most of their songs are blues, some just a little harder than others
Was I right or wrong is another really deep song. You'll be amazed
He said fuck. I'll subscribe.
Have to look on album
Mr banker probably wished he took that 1950’s lea Paul considering they’re worth half a million sometimes even more
Oh man a couple other skynyrd songs to check out are THAT AIN'T MY AMERICA and RED, WHITE AND BLUE. maybe add in SIMPLE LIFE and a personal favs from the new band GOD & GUNS and LOVE DON'T ALWAYS COME EASY
G O L D . . . Not much better than original Lynyrd Skynyrd, Biz.
Ironically, a 1950 Les Paul is worth ten times what a Deep South country funeral would’ve cost.
Yeah I think that's the whole point. Several comments mentioning how much it would be worth today, it was Obviously worth a lot when this song was written.
They just put you in a unmarked grave. Poor mans grave.
