My friends at Sills Motor Sales gave me a pair of BMW Connected Ride Smartglasses. I unboxed the glasses and showed basic set up. I tested the glasses while riding my 2023 BMW M 1000 RR on the filthy streets of Cleveland, Ohio. The glasses are amazing and the information displayed can increase safety while riding.

Any manufacturer for Helmets need to integrate this technology into their Helmet Visors. Wearing glasses under a helmet can be extremely uncomfortable for most riders. II would definitely purchase this technology if it was integrated into a helmet visor.
Ive heard about a company called forcite that do some hud in the helmet. I dont know much about them but have a look

Definitely not something you NEED, but a cool advancement in technology nonetheless. I think for me personally, I'd rather stick to just looking at the dash instead of using smart glasses. However, if I get the chance to try them, I'd definitely give them a shot.

It’s cool but better if its able to pick up dangerous objects and debris in road to keep you safe using bluetooth with cameras. Im sure that will happen soon as some electric bikes have that type of feature . I had it in my m4 and loved it didn’t distract me as i used it as a convenience. Good review 👍🏼

If you know your bike well enough - what you should totally do - you will know your speed by the sound of your bike without looking at the speedo. And if anyone starts to come with the excuses - "you might not riding enough you couldn't get to know that well" or "it's not obvious because you wear hearing protection" - well, you would be reckless to ride your bike at higher speeds, and the last thing you would need is an extra distraction.
Imagine what BMW could do if they made a legit real deal motorcycle helmet with all that tech in a bigger platform.
Very nice with a well thought out design and case. Could you see if BMW could provide a video that shows you what the display looks like while riding? Also, as others have mentioned, it would be nice to have indicators for approaching objects in the road or vehicles approaching you from your blindspots. Link to the bike and a rear camera? 650!!!!😎

Depends on how much the HUD takes up the field of view. I would try it out to see if it’s helpful.

Do you need to focus close to see the image or is the image far out that you don't need to refocus?
Hey.... No need to focus at all. The images simply 'float' in your vision. It's not distracting at all and super cool!

Good initial review. You mentioned that the HUD glasses moved a lot when you were going fast on the track. I was wondering how much they move when riding on roads that are not very smooth? Can it make it difficult to focus on the image?
Hey... The glasses don't move at all when riding under 120mph. I'm gonna test them on my R 1250 GS Adventure HP and make a video 🦾

PRETTY COOL GLASSES. FOR $750 BMW SHOULD HAVE MADE THOSE LENSES TRANSITIONAL TINT LIKE YOU WOULD HAVE ON REGULAR EYEGLASSES FOR THOSE SUNNY DAYS IN FILTHY CLEVELAND. GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS 650IB.

Hey IB! Just a quest, why doesnt u do anything about the bad mic/sounding problem when speaking while driving. It sounds really terrible all the time. Is there a reason for you to not adjust or buy a new mic etc to fix the prob?
Hi there. I've invested in the best mic setup. I'm usually riding fast and there will be wind noise. It might improve when I get my new AlpineStars helmet soon. Fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, I wear trifocals so that might be a problem even though I understand you can get prescription settings with the lenses; that is a big risk for $750 plus the optometrist $$$ just to see IF they work. Sigh.

Hi. You would connect your iPhone to the BMW Connected Ride App and then the SMARTGLASSES to the App.
Understood…. I’m purchasing a pair shortly. My dealer has a pair set aside. I tried them on yesterday. I also sent your video to several the dealer employees. You’re the first person who’s taken the time for this new item.

Help 😊I went out this morning New Year’s Day. The glasses connected no problem. However, once I put the glasses on with my Schuberth C5 helmet, the data completely disappears. If I take my helmet off, it all comes back again. Is the Schuberth blocking my Bluetooth connection?

I have HUD in my Audi as well. I love it. I don’t have to look down at the speed if I’m giving it. Wish more vehicles had HUD.
If your HUD is in your way your seat is way too low.
Open your eyes… hud blocking your view is insane who just stares at the speedo ?? It doesn’t distract it just sits in your peripheral you can see the road and it at all times

Don't refer to yourself as a good buddy.
I am not convinced. The connected ride Navigator is a worthless device, and these glasses are not very handy if you have the dark glasses on and you enter a tunnel. Apart from that it will be tiresome on your eÿes in the long run. BMW is strong in creating solutions for non existing problems.

No thanks to even more distractions while riding. $750 retail and going for $1k in the resale market and they will be $150 in 2 years when BWM abandons the platform and support. Plus,,,you know you are going to lose them or break them.
