I'm halfway through the campaign and have been in two minds as to whether to get admiralty backing for this ship. Good destroyer players and ships can make a big difference to the outcome of games, this doesn't look like a good ship and it would be difficult to have a significant influence on the outcome of a game especially at T8, it's average even at T6 going by the stats. Thanks for the honest review....
With a team like you had in this one it's doubtful you could in ANY ship. It's strange that random matchmaking so often results in such disparity between the opposing teams🤔
You forgot that you had one more torpedo to use on that Musashi 😆 And hey, Hipper was on the enemy team, playing a Wanchor ship but still finishing where he always finishes on the leaderboard. 🙄
Yep, totally agree it is a "meh" T7 dd stuck at T8. My only suggestion would be swapping out King for Deng Shichang to get the most out of concealment and torps. King improves AA not Hit points BTW, I suspect you were thinking of Sims.
Today I have been trying out Stig with all the torp enhancements except the 3rd slot where I chose perceptive. Torp reload is 41 seconds which makes Velos usable as a torp boat.
I'm not particularly interested in Velos but I always get the admiralty backing for all the other stuff. Hope this ship gets a beefy buff but if not that's fine. It can sit in port with my Jager and others that I haven't even bothered to assign a commander
Sad thing is I think if you dropped this to tier 7 and upped Kidd to 7 with out changing anything and Kidd would still be better despite being made for tier 6. Why they even thought Velos was a good idea is beyond me. We had enough Fletchers and outside of Johnston there wasn't any other ones worth adding.
The Velos is best utulized as a scout... Its not really a damage dealer from what I've experienced. When you get Multi DD games, you work with another DD to have impact. Ive had a couple of decent games with Velos so far, but its definitely not the best DD, exception being it really is a decent scout... At T8 though I'd rather play Z44 or Hayate Now to be fair, the torps against the Musashi... That's not a fair rant seeing as how the Musashi and Yamato both have 48 or 50% torp damage reduction per torp, but having gone up against a Repub, A GK, and a Schlieffen, still cant kill a BB from full health with one rack, not even with -25% health
Then I don't think the way I characterized Velos - as a scavenger - is inaccurate. The Mushashi literally could have been any BB at the tier really. One rack of 5 torps won't kill a BB at Tier 8, even if wounded. ETA: A scout role doesn't make anyone feel good about their battle contribution and certainly doesn't endear one to their teammates. However, given the current meta, I am sure there will be plenty of players happy to sail around at the back of the spawn, spamming a 5 pack of torps and consider it a job well done.
@@kpz1234 no no, don't get me wrong. I think your characterization is 100% accurate and thoughtfully honest. I simply wanted to breakdown in just a bit more detail for other players what the ship could be described as more in depth. But i agree with you that simply being a scout isn't that fun, and battle impact is femoris low unless you're hunting specifically light and heavily armored cruisers, specifically German and Russian from my experience so far, so it seems to me as DD support and cruiser hunter because its torps do hurt cruisers quite significantly and for seem to get fires on cruisers often
I'm not interested in the ship, but I need the Drachmas to get the Siegfried. WG also have a habit of buffing ships, but this thing would need a major buff going by those stats. Thanks for the info KPZ🫡✌️

Thanks... I have advocated for moving Kidd to T7 just to alleviate the glut of T6 American premium DD's (also Sims dropping to T5).
