- GW2 SotO introduced swords for necromancers, and while there are many other good options to choose, swords opened up the option for even faster necromancers. This video is an introduction to the sword mechanics and a guide to a power harbinger build that utilizes both swords in WvW and PvP.

If you want to play sword on a power reaper, just replace the axe with it, but generally axe is better since reapers aren't as reliant on mobility as harbingers are. Like the the video as usual o7
What do you think of sword sword as an alt to staff on terrormancer/terrorreaper builds?
Any time I see a weapon set that applies both fear and chill, I immediately think of hybrid reaper and those sweet, sweet bleed stacks.
on a condi reaper it isnt bad for sure, but remember is the synergy of that going to equal more value than the sheer utility of a staff or power of a pistol@@piedpiper1172
@@Vallun There is that! I suppose the real utility gain is that off hand sword is a second source of fear available on a swappable offhand.
So the question becomes if something like pistol-sword / axe-warhorn or dagger-warhorn is better than one of those pairs + staff.
Dagger and pistol as ways to eat up stun breaks before launching a 5 fear chain into shroud 4 is rather tempting! (Sword, Warhorn, Ring, Chill to Bone + Relic of Nightmares, Shroud 3). Having someone feared is also about the only time I consistently land Shroud 5 to set up the chill bolts wombo-combo to stack silly bleed numbers.
I wish runes of nightmare weren’t so laughably bad (10% duration on an effect with base 1 second is just sadface), and/or that there was a fear duration Sigil like all other conditions.
I like the live commentary. What you're saying is easier to follow with what's happening on screen.

Harbinger's shroud is ranged and swords are also ranged so this is reiterative. I find better choice to use swords with reaper.
I Think It would be much better if skills consume shroud instead of health. Because it would be too many times when damage would be lower then the health loss. But to make each skill give shroud and then consume it for extra damage feels better.

Hey Vallun if I wanna start with GW2 pvp, should I get all the expansions available? at the moment I only own Heart of thorns & Path of fire. I was trying to do the builds which you mentioned (some months ago in ur guide) but i realzied i cannot get them :/
Every build can be used in pvp, you dont need expansions to be competitive. Tho you rarely see core builds in pvp
I'm hoping they might give a small buff to swords, the mobility they provide looks really fun but it seems like most builds i'm finding don't use them. You used them really well in this video but i'm nowhere near as skilled so I worry I couldn't make this build work haha...
Still at top tier for builds and commentary Vallun. Going to stop playing WvW for a wile. Too many "single shot" kills going on in WvW now. Its gotten stale to the point of boredom. Will still log in to watch your vids. Carrot Wedge.
how long have you been on break? WVW roaming is all sustain cele builds, not many 1 shot builds at all. Most popular builds are cele builds.
Vallun, any testing with Core necro builds with sw/sw?
i guess you could run the terrormancer build with s/s but staff or warhorn are probably better options

cele reaper might use swords but otherwise there are better weapons

How do you use your Sword 3 dash away from the enemy? Mine always dash into the enemy automatically. Is there a setting for that?
Just deselect everything or target a mob in the distance.
check my video on tab targeting and action combat, but basically you need to remove autotargeting
any other options for relic? i think speed relic is not an option anymore because every other class has more mobillity and if u have cripple or chill the speed relic is very useless

swap white potion for black to get resistance for speed kiting. if you dislike speed you can just run any power relic or demon queen to counter cele spam
I just don't managed to do dash away like you without action cam. I learned there is a trick with several buttons but you do it so seemlessly, I'm lost

Fun to play, but just doesn't compete very well with other cele builds in wvw roaming. Spvp is all condi reaper again

rip dagger/wh not axe/focus for power build, man i thought you were good
dragons stat, vamp runes, relic of centaur (it gives 4 stacks of stab not 2 like tooltip, shh don't tell anet), deathmagic 3/3/2, spite 1/2/2, harb 1/2/1 (group) or 1/1/1 solo.
Amazing build, been roaming it for about a month. I'm at about 6.0kdr on my necro ( and i dont like to zerg )
I actually have been enjoying axe/sword - sword/focus for a bit to switch it up, but Sword/Focus - Greatsword is also good fun in small groups, run Well of Darkness ontop for additional blinds. But always, read your group, read the boonstrip/boon capability of opponents (blinds null if they can perma spam resist).

If you want to be more safe run double cleanse over force, depends how much condi love is out there when you're playing
I think u dont have Fury or swiftness with that set up 😅 do u use elixirs for these important roaming buffs?
@@wollabywolly8276 ahhh play your dodges and blinds, you do big enough damage without fury, and swiftness lets you play with more than pixels for movement. Best defense is good offense.
Some skills really feel great on swords but Anet seems to have cornered themselves with this fundamentally flawed idea of self healing + life cost, which will never be balanced in all game modes.
And the weapon suffer tremendously by that, in PvP more than in PvE.
Also it seems they just tried too hard to have a second skill, without actually having any reason for these skills to exist.
Like they dont do anything special whatsoever, just cost additional life for more or less the same dmg, just with added downsides and hassle to go through.
Very flawed base concept but decent execution, overall a pretty mediocre weapon.
Is Powe reaper for all build still good....please update that I will pay for that.
