- Imagine going on a fishing trip where everything you have dreamt about, actually happens. Well, back in October, together with my dad, I had the trip of a lifetime. An epic 10 days in the wild and unexplored waters of Canada, searching for giant carp. Even though we had a rocky start, we eventually got among them, and well, there was no shortage of monster sized fish.
This video will inspire many carp anglers to explore new waters and catch the fish of a lifetime. Excellent job, Paul🔥🔥🔥
Glad you enjoyed it Petre! Hope you are well!
@Petre 💯%
I saw you this film on KWO , nice 😎
normally i dont bother commenting.........but that was one of the best videos i've seen. fantastic fish and lake, keep at it and keep catching!
@@markjenkins-s6q thanks so much!! So happy to hear you enjoyed it! Cheers
I’m a U.K. carp angler … that was fantastic 👏👏👏 superb session mate a real session of a lifetime
Glad you enjoyed it mate, definately a crazy session and unreal results, cant wait to go back!
Appreciate all you do to share so effectively how the culture of carp fishing is so unique and that these incredible fish are something to be treasured.
Thanks! It's all about the respect and appreciation for these amazing fish we have in our waters, we truly have something special here!
Well done, excellent video. You’re very fortunate to have such an amazing location with ‘wild’ fish on your doorstep. It’s the polar opposite of what carp fishing has become in the UK.
It is quite crazy the amount of water we have here! So much exploring to do, and the uncertainty of what the next fish will be is definitely exciting! Cheers
Could not have happened to a better fella! 🎉 Big ups, Paul!
You are a true ambassador for carping!
Thanks Will, happy to share it with everyone!
I wonder how many times I said 'wow' watching this! Absolutely amazing trip and film, and memories to share with your dad! ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it, the whole trip was incredible!
@TeamCarpFishing What a dream trip! So happy for ya!
Fantastic session and to share it with your dad makes it even more special, I'm in the UK and carp fishing here now is very commercialised and all the lakes are very busy. Enjoy that wild fishing 👍👍
Thanks Kevin! It was truly a special trip, and we have so much water to still explore, truly spoiled!
I loved fishing this region for big carp many decades ago. Balsam Lake, Rice, Sturgeon and the whole Trent System were all very productive for big fish.
The lakes of the huge Verendrye Reserve region was also one of my favourites, and the Ottawa River, and Manitoulin Island... searching for monsters over 60lb.
Thanks for sharing, how long ago was this?
@TeamCarpFishing During the 1980's and 1990's and early 2000's. I caught countless thirties and many 40lb+ up to 52lb+, but lost a few exceeding sixty in Canadian waters, from Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. As well as many big carp across almost every State in US.
I enjoyed watching your video, and it brought back many fond memories of my own explorations into the wildest untapped frontiers of Canada.
Tony - please do a podcast & talk about your travels. There is a whole generation out there that has no idea of what you did back in the day - The original globetrotter & it would make fascinating listening for those of us who love an adventure.
Sooo crazy...i almost never read any comments...and finding this post under a truły amazing video really got me. 30 Years back in the days when i started carp fishing, your artikels really inspired me, always discovering the untouched. True Legend ❤
i live in Ottawa and seeing carp over 50lbs is what first got me into them, havent picked up my musky rods since. lol i do well on the rideau and canal systems but struggle at most the spots i try on the Ottawa. found one really productive area but have to weed through the med. fish and heavy boat traffic..
Absolutely Brilliant Video mate,... Well done... Can't wait for the Next video
Thank you mate! I can't wait to get out there again!
Amazing video and trip of a lifetime 😉👌👍
Thank you, it was indeed a very special trip. It will be hard to beat!
Well done Paul with another great video and the fantastic fish you caught
Thanks Dave! It was an epic trip!
Great video, what a session! Your Dad steals the show though!
He is going to be delighted to hear, a few others have also expressed how funny he was! Cheers 🍻
@@TeamCarpFishing Lot funnier than my Dad! Epic Carp there, bigger than my UK PB. I recently started visiting Thailand after watching a Fish with Carl video, can highly recommend it, the power is unreal and the sizes are mental. Had Siamese Carp to 95lb with fish to 180lb coming out while I was there for other anglers.
@@cliffdixon6422 that is awesome, definately on my bucketlist!!!
Truly amazing. To be able to achieve that many 40's in 1 trip is just unreal. Having done it with your dad is cherry on top. What an epic video, congrats!
Couldn't agree more! Happy to hear you enjoyed the video and took the time to comment! Happy Holidays!
@@TeamCarpFishing 48 lbs has to be pushing the Ontario record. I only know of 1 fish that I believe was a legit 50, the the guy that caught it was alone many years ago, and only got a picture of it next to his shoe for reference, back before everyone had cel phones or digital cameras. That was in Quebec. The few others that claimed to catch 50's in Canada were mainly bullsh*tters. I have only passed 40 lbs once.
Paul is too modest. Most of us carp anglers here in Canada accept the 48 as the new record. Ontario Federation of Hunters & Anglers will only accept deceased fish for records so they can properly identify the species & wouldn’t make any acceptions, even if there is film footage. It’s very sad with so many anglers practicing catch & release these days. The Canadian Carp Society has an ‘unofficial record carp’ list that requires a strict set of conditions to be added & the 48 is now top of that one.
@@Toronto_James Nice. I thought Ofah had C&R records by now, but it's been a very long time since I checked their lists.
Cracking session with stunning carp. One thing for sure they will be 50lb plus carp in that venue you dont get that stamp of fish otherwise. Greetings from across the pond.😎🐟🐟
Cracking video, and we'll done! Those commons were stunning!
Thanks Dave! Happy to hear you enjoyed it mate! Cheers
Beautiful beautiful video, treasured moments never forgotten. So pleased for you, thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks Simon! Really happy to hear you enjoyed the video! It was an absolute blast spending time with my dad! Cheers 🍻
Inspirational video and very well put together, well done on the captures what a red letter trip of a lifetime. Canada is a beautiful country to explore and fish you are blessed to have so many options. Your comment at the end of the session made me LAUGH I am hoping for a decent fish before I go!!! Lol. statement of the trip! Well done man you earned it! You get out what you put in with carp fishing.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was a trip of a lifetime. I can't wait to go back to explore more of it! 🍻
Yes it will get under your skin after that experience that's for sure! Ha ha . I am from the UK and had a 2 week trip to long sault on the famous pines swims ect over 17 years ago and long for another trip!.... I shared a 79 fish day session with my friend that will stay with me forever. Tight lines and I wish you all the luck for the future 🙏 it's a great sport.
@ what a small world, I have fished that swim!!! It still produces but not the big fish as it once did, or at least thats what i'm told! If you ever make it back to Canada theres a bunch of anglers which would gladly help put you on some fish!
@@TeamCarpFishing oh thank you for the offer of help if I get back over the pond in the future sometime. We had our best fish in hoople bay I think it was called just a few miles up from the pines! I needed another holiday after the trip lol getting up at 4.30 for 2 weeks straight EXHAUSTED me.
@ i believe it, when the fish are around it can be non-stop action!
Beauty video. Shows the true beauty of our wonderful fishery here in South Ontario. Thank you for the hard work you put in, and you were rewarded.
I try to push myself to not only be a better angler but also make better videos, I'm truly happy to hear you enjoyed it!
Great job! Most of the people dont realize how much work it takes to produce such quality videos like yours. UA-cam algorithm needs to do better and shoot your channel up ! Love to see more people fish for Carp in America
Thanks! I really appreciate it and I’m glad you noticed the effort that goes into these videos! As for youtube I don't know why I'm not doing better, but it doesn't matter that much. I love making these videos and rewatching them in the years to come! Cheers!
@@TeamCarpFishing It will happen ! You only need 1 video to go viral and it will boots you channel a lot since all of your videos are great ! Keep making them
Best part of the video is how funny your dad is! Lol😂 mega session dude congratulations!
Thanks, I will be sure to let him know, everytime someone mentions him in the comments I take a screenshot and send it to him!!!! Cheers 🍻
What a wicked session with your old man dude. Those fish were all so perfect and you nailed this edit.
Thanks Andrew, crazy ass trip, doesn't feel like it happened in Canada. As for the edit, I'm burnt out, just like after every video, but these long 10 day trips are something else to edit and put together, but ultimately happy with how it turned out!
I loved watching this movie❤ thank you for putting this together and sharing it with the world. I had no idea that there was a Canadian carp scene and such beautiful fish to be had😮 this was very beautiful and very insightful as well 😁 thank you once again and congratulations on a beautiful fishing trip❤ I hope that many may follow🙏🙏
Thank you for taking the time to comment, and I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed it. We have so many waters in canada that hold carp, its actually mindblowing. Tricky part is finding the big ones! Thanks again!
Superb edit and superb trip once in a lifetime, felt like i was right there with you. 10/10

@TeamCarpFishing Do you already know which area you will be in? Good luck, fingers crossed for you
@ close to Nuremberg, we will travel also, hoping for a bit of a roadtrip!
@@TeamCarpFishing A beautiful area there! Good luck and all the best to you!
Fantastic session on a truly amazing looking venue. You guys are so lucky to have those vast water systems to fish and explore, you could do a month on a place that large and only scratch the surface. Its a different world to what we are used to in the UK.My kind of venue for sure. Also love the house boat concept aswell. Subscribed and look forward to seeing more Canadian adventures
Really happy to hear you enjoyed the video. We are indeed spoiled, but it also takes alot of effort to find these larger fish, before this trip, I had only caught a single 40lb fish. This trip really opened many people's eyes as to what is possible so its safe to say I am going to continue exploring this system, and who knows what kind of special fish it will produce.
Incredible film man, well done!
Straight up got anxiety watching the fights, even though I knew the outcome 😂
You deserve the results and once again, congratulations!
Thanks Harry, but I really have to thank you, without us going back and forth texting, who knows if I would have caught the 48 or not! Happy Holidays, hope we can get out next year!
Im all about helping and sharing so I’m very glad it worked out so well for you!
Just remember H, he wouldn’t have caught them if it wasn’t for you!😂 😂
I highly doubt that Jamie 😂
Really enjoyed your video, brings back great memories of the three trips we made to Canada from the UK. Catching 40lb carp that have probably never seen an angler was something else. Location is everything, we had some blank days but once you locate them the sport is amazing, thanks for posting this video 😊
@@nigelmiddleton2727 happy to hear you enjoyed the video, Canada is still one of few places where you can still pioneer and discover wild carp. Not very easy to find the big fish, but when you do is it ever rewarding!
Mega fishing, congratz on those 40's. Awesome to see those untapped places unlike the UK where that fish would of been caught 100+ times.
Yes, the untapped waters with unknown fish are very different from pegged lakes! While I do enjoy the great unknown the most, the small venues with limited but known stock are a fun challenege! Cheers!
What a video Paul! New subscriber as well, didn’t know Canada had waters that produced that many 40s! Congrats on your PBs! There’s plenty of forage for those wild, untouched carp. Also great to see that Musky catch as a bonus, I’d still count that catch if you touch the fish 😁
Thanks! I agree, those waters are something special, I can't wait to to back!
Greetings from across the pond mate , great skills buddy absolutely brilliant viewing, great fish care brilliant video skills your old fella is epic buddy all the best dude 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣

What a brilliant trip that was! I said this a few years ago but your channel deserves to be big, the content is so inspiring. Can you start offering guided tours? 😊
Thanks Greg, it was something very special! As for guided tours, I had considered it a while back, but the biggest issue is time, with a full time job and other responsibilities I simply don't have time for the fishing I want to do.

Thank you Peter! Happy you enjoyed it. I will be fishing Germany in May 2025, I know Germany has some monster fish!!
@@TeamCarpFishing Yes we have some really big fish around here. My PB is 22 KG, caught that fish in Main River 2003. That eveneing I didnt even want to go fishing but a friend of mine talked me into it. It took 15 minutes from bringing out the bait to the bite. Will never forget that evening.... Half an hour after that fish I caught another one with 20,8 KG. These two are my biggest till today. Hope you will enjoy your fishing in Germany. Where will you be? Maybe I can visit you if it not to far from my place...
Great stuff, now its your fathers turn and go for the muskie hunt together. Making memories makes life special.

Really glad you enjoyed the video Mike. We are truly blessed with the water we have available to us. I have some really cool adventures coming up and can't wait to share them with everyone! Cheers
Well done ! what you achieved in just 1 session (4 x 40s) is pretty much history, probably will never be repeated. An truly memorable fishing trip! Where do you go from here?
Well, theres always going for a Canadian 50, which now I feel is very much a matter of time, and a 30lb / 40lb mirror is also very much a target for me. After that, I honestly don't know! Good problems to have nonetheless!
@@TeamCarpFishing Yeah go for it! there are such fish out there for sure, you need to put in the time & you got the location sorted, you'll do it Im sure. You remind me of one of my American friends Scott Osmond who is an incredible carp fisher. Known him for 25+years, Scott also has the knack with the big fish. We should all get together for a trip, you never know what could turn up! Once again well done!

Hello mate. Just found your channel and I must say it’s breathtaking. Wonderful carp fishing from a stunning country. My best mate lives in Calgary and moved there from southern England 10 years ago. We both carp fished together growing up and I’ve been telling him he should try it in Canada. Now I have the proof it’s possible. If you ever come to England give me a shout. I’ll get you a guest session on my syndicate. I live only 20 minutes from Yateley. Many thanks for the amazing channel. Take care mate. Tom.
Thanks Tom! Happy to hear you enjoyed the video! We have a vast amount of water here to discover. A good starting point for your mate is the Canadian Carp Society, they have a great community of passionate anglers! As for England, I have no clue when but one day I will visit. This is awesome. Shit goes wrong. Big fish. Epic scenery. Making memories with dad.
Thanks Peter.. it was indeed a rollercoaster of a special trip!
Great stuff Paul. We used to fish around Long Sault and my mate had a 40lb 4oz Common on one trip. Unfortunately don't get out to Canada anymore but what a place.
Our waters are still truly wild in most places (for carp at least), unfortunately a lack of bankspace is the biggest issue, but if you can get a boat and target them, it opens a new world of opportunities.
Amazing!
Thanks Dominic!
probably count on one hand the amount of places in the world where you can truly pioneer & fish for truly wild carp where nobody has ever fished from them before. to then catch fish that smashed the Canadian record is astounding. utterly amazing trip #hatdoffed
So true James, thanks for the ongoing support, wishing you and your family happy holidays. I also have a feeling that a #40 is incoming for you next year ;)
Congratulations on your catches, I was in Canada in 2013 on the St Lawrence River, we caught a lot of carp but not that big ones, unfortunately. May I know what is the name of that lake?

Great watch. When u going back. Looking forward to the next video.
I will get back out there in the spring, Ive seen some other swims which look very promising! Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Cheers
@TeamCarpFishing so different to our English carp fishing. So much adventure. Unknown fish. Unknown sizes. Not jealous at all. Been carp fishing over 40 years. My best adventures was on the river Thames. On a 21ft river cruiser. Over 10 years ago.
@@iains65 I know what you mean, I have fished some european lakes that are pegged very close together, on weekends the lakes are basically full, and the fish are so pressured. I do however do enjoy a small big fish, low stock water, its something we don't really have here.
Good to see carp angling is being practiced in a serious way in Canada, 20+ years ago us in Europe sometimes came across horrorscenes (for us atleast) with pictures of killed carp in North America. Or was that just something they did in the US?
Unfortunately the horror scenes still exist here and in the US. It is unfortunate, but I have seen alot of improvement here in Canada, with more catch and release anglers than ever. The stigma around carp is slowly changing but we have a ways to go! Cheers

Yess!!! The dream right? It was a great trip! Happy new year!
a 48lbr for the first fish in a lake that size is astronomical! Either extremely lucky or that place has some 60Lb plus fish!
I believe there to be much larger fish, especially seein the length of these fish, specifically the length of the 45.5lb common caught towards the end of the trip.
@@TeamCarpFishing If i was in your shoes I would do a baiting trip with some 200kg's or mixed birdseed and 22mm boilies, (reach out and get a sponser onboard) and do a huge baiting campaign. Two trips 200kg per time 2 months apart. The content would be utterly ridiculous!
Hi!!.. i m italian carphungler... and Never...my eyes Have visionated this paradaise curpworld ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤... when i can come whit youuuuu
Yess... we have some very amazing water here, and so much to explore! If you ever come to Canada, I can help you with some tips, but I have so little time to fish and so many places I want to go...
Christ it's probably highly unlikely that common is the biggest in that lake can you imagine how big they go to, got to be at least 60lb
I agree. Based on what the 45.5lb common looked like, it was so long and lean, if it would fill in, it would easily weight 55lb in the spring.
Fantastic video Bud never pick the scales up by their face because it always gives a false reading for the weight
Thanks Marc, I will keep that in mind! I did weigh the fish 3 times, once with the bar, was between 48.5 and 48lb, I always round down! Cheers

Hahaha, si eu imediat depistez cine este roman imediat dupa nume! Sper ca tia placut videoul! Fire Intinse
Which part of Canada did Martin Gay catch his 40lb common in the 80's ?
Some things are best left alone.
Lots of absolute codswallop has been written / spoken about this story (from both sides) which lead to some unpleasant stuff happening to members of his family (lovely people who have moved on)
Those fish were stunning & were absolute monsters. Catching them was a tremendous feat of angling at the time, wherever they were caught from.
