All they had to do was leave everything as it was in 1963 and there would have been four tracks every bit of the way from Leeds to Manchester. The only expense would have been a relatively minor amount of upgrading. What a total waste of money! 😂
Earnest Marples (he of the road building) with the ear of Beeching guilty of criminal short-term thinking. Just to make a quick buck…. Good job the politicians aren’t like that now, eh?
I walked across the Colnebridge road bridge later on this afternoon(11th Jan) and spotted a digger on track behind the Mamas & Papas building. I filmed it for a few seconds and took a couple of photos. Could have been on the rail bridge over the canal but was hard to see from where I was (on the road bridge). I can't stop checking the progress whenever I cross over the railway.
im glad your keeping track(no pun intented) of it, im losing track of it all,the route i usually take to work,is now a major diversion, putting extra time and more money on a tight family budget. but we wont be compensated for that, so the kids will suffer, as its costing £20 a week in fuel more, plus were paying for it all in taxes,
Many thanks for braving the extreme cold weather and for the update on the works much appreciated!
Nice video and thanks for sharing. Dave
Great Sarah loved watching this, and the footbridge still stands in the Background 👍🏻😎

No it wouldn’t.
Those four tracks would have a much lower linespeed than TRU is aiming to achieve
Great video Sarah thanks😊
2:09 “linespeed”….that would be a great alias, “Mr. Linespeed”☺️
