Peg Perego Gator- No reverse gear

Does your peg perego john deere gator go forward but will not go in reverse? Today we got a rare Peg Perego worksite gator in the shop and it shows those symptoms. This model shares the same components as the original gator and the HPX gator. A common issue is having forward speeds but no reverse. In this video, we teach you how to properly test, diagnose and repair the gator to get the kids back to work. Tools needed will be a Phillips screwdriver, fingernail file, electric parts cleaner, and a small straight-tip screwdriver. Also, a wire brush, grease, and fine-grit sandpaper will be helpful.

Is there a way to modify it so it can stay in reverse? My kid struggles holding down the lever and steering at the same time

Simply remove the spring on top of the switch inside the shifter

I have a gator that on low speed only one wheel turns, but in high both spin. Is that a failing switch?
