Thanks for posting a big part of my childhood. My dad worked in the steak house from the late 40s to the mid 60s and my mom worked in the chicken dinner restaurant. I grew up on the farm with Folten Shaw Ken olliphant Ray Nelson Wayne Collins Chuck La hann Andy Anderson and many more of the nicest fun people that were very good to me.Tony The puppetier performed at many of my birthday parties and it was nice to see Chief Red Feather in your video who came to are house often. I also worked in the steakhouse and the silver dollar saloon as a teen meeting a hole new generation of Knotts people
What a great place thanks for the movies... Lived in Buena Park in the early 50s. Went to church with the Knots & had a great time each time we went to the Farm. My Mother worked in the Chicken House when She was a young girl. Great movies
I have a picture of my brother and me taken in 1953 with the Indian Chief at Knott's Berry Farm. Is it possible that was your great uncle, too? I don't know how to post a picture on here, but I'm havin' one of those "small world" moments!!
this is the reason why I want a time machine. I love to see all the great history of Knott's Berry farm in person. lived across the street from Knott's from 93'-08'
I enjoyed that thoroughly. Especially around the 12:08 to 12:40 mark when my grandfathers knife shop was shown and in the background of the Chief Red Feather shots. Thank you Jay.
Having lived in La Mirada, I grew up going to KBF and since I was too young to know about corporate business but not about the hippies that were reportedly sleeping in the park, I was a little confused when they decided to put a wall up around it and charge admission. That was the end of an era. I went in 2013 and in spite of so many changes I had a great time screaming on the roller coasters; then I realized all the stuff I loved I had to go to make room for the scream machines. So glad they are celebrating the boysenberry again--it is absolutely necessary to go back to where it began. I still want some boysenberry syrup. No one makes it. Thank you for posting this...
This is so unspeakably awesome. These could be my own home movies. I am totally reliving and re-feeling the Knotts that I knew so well and loved so much. Thank you. Kudos to the editor of the film, was it you, Jay? Music pics are great.
This is where i grew up. Most of all these folks are gone now. very few left. I really enjoyed this era of knowing this place. so many good memory's That fried chicken will never change either.
wow ,my aunts worked there in the 1940, uncle was mayor there and parent squared danced , was a fun place and kids could run free and there was seal animals there and birds running free , now looks like hell came to Buena park , place is fence in and not as good but it still has its old charm now , with super scary rides now
The sad reality is that stagecoach rides like that (full of people on top, front and back) will never be allowed today, for the risk of injury when people fall off if the horses stampeded. But it's so nice to see a glimpse of a time gone by at Knott's Berry Farm. Even if I went back today, I'd probably weep at the alterations that have been made to satisfy modern tastes and regulations.

I miss the old cable cars in the parking lot, and the old self-drive model-Ts out in the corner of the property. How long ago did those go away?
I think it was around the time camp Snoopy was built.

Used to walk there in the 60's was free , was 15 in 72 , worked the steakhouse
