Tokyo Station Joetsu Shinkansen to Niigata

- We’ll start from Tokyo Station’s Marunouchi side and enter in search of a delicious Ekiben (train station bento box lunch) before heading to the Shinkansen platform. We’re headed to Niigata, platform 23. The Toki Express departs 2 times an hour.

Thank you for the fun trip to the start of the Shinkansen to Niigata. It's a journey that I am anticipating for next year & I am just doing few 'dummy runs' thanks to UA-cam. Your tip out where to easily buy the Bento was invaluable.
I really like Hana Victoria, the intern. She seems very warm, genuine, open, sincere and likeable.🌿🙌 She exudes this cheeriness and I can tell she is diligent, very polite and helpful, from past videos I have watched
Although Hana is a young adult, she seems very mature and positive in her thinking. I like her personality alot. I feel her mum, Ruth, had raised her very well. I've seen her mum in your videos, the lady from the Enoshima island video.
Halloween is right around the corner, I think that would be a good time to visit the deepest station in Japan, Doai. It looks abandoned but it's actually a functioning station but only a few trains stop there per day. The platform is at the bottom of a long flight of steps. It takes 10 minutes to walk the 486 steps from the ticket gate to the platform. It's between Tokyo and Niigata on the same line that you're on.

Love your videos. I lived in Japan for almost three years on two different occasions. My wife and I visited Japan two years ago. I stumbled across your channel while in Kyoto where I was reminded of eki-bens and got some that evening on the Shinkansen to Tokyo!

I am an ex train driver in Australia. And I can’t get bored with travelling on the Shinkansen. Just love them , also I have been to Niigata twice now .
I love watching your steams John. I went to Japan for the first time around 6 months ago and I'm lucky to be able to go back to Tokyo for a semester university exchange in about a year from now. Watching your live streams keeps me motivated to study Japanese before I leave.

2 days ago I went to Tokyo station and bought a yakiniku bento. it was awesome.
Looks like I just missed this train 🙂. Seems like all of Tokyo was taking a train today. Hope we can see some live streams from Sado island and Niigata.

The green Shinkansen also goes to Hokkaido, have you ever taken it in that direction? They're planning on expanding it to Sapporo, I want to go there to see the abandoned Teine bobsled finish house from the 1972 Winter Olympics, a creepy place you might want to see for Halloween

The green one is called hayabusa. I’m a train fanboy😅 and by the way there’s 2 hayabusa if u didn’t know. One has a pink and green and the other one is made In hokkaido which is green and purple and the logo is different. That’s why the pink one is called E5 made in east which is Tokyo and H5 which is made in Hokkaido

Do you have a video of how to go to Shin-Osaka from Narita? I'm planning to ride Nex train from Narita to Shinagawa and then ride bullet train from Shinagawa to Shin-Osaka. Not sure how much that would cost me.
🤔 if you’re trying to save money, take the ¥1,000 bus ($10) to Tokyo Station. Bus is so convenient! It drops you off closer to the Shinkansen platform than NEX! From Shinagawa, not sure. I never get on there because the trains are often crowded because Tokyo Station is the origin. If you don’t have a seat reservation, it’s rare to get a seat by the window on the Mt Fuji side (people like the 2 seat row with the electrical socket) Have fun!

I'm planning my next trip in November 2020. My boss told me HHRR just want to let us take vacations on November or December, so my next travel to Japan will have to be on November, December is too cold.

100 dollars for a train ride ! ? holy mackerel ,, this is probly not relevant but we can get a ticket here for 25 euro. and we can go around the whole netherlands for the whole weekend. vs 100 euro almost for 1 ride o,0. feels very expensive man . love you're vids !!
The train ride would be crossing to Paris on the TGV from Holland. I don’t think that’s €25 - is it? It was a 2 hr 13 min trip at 300km/hr
@@onlyinjapanGO yes but then its not in the netherlands anymore. and u leave the country, you travel inside japan right, so i figured i tell you the difference traveling a whole weekend for that amount of money , inside the netherlands only , :) and no our ''trais are not going that fast . but our country is way smaller then japan . in 200 km you crossed our country from top to bottom , about 2 hours travel. and what i meant was , for 25 euro u can travel the whole weekend , across the whole netherlands only, so basicaly you can travel unlimited km's inside the time span of a weekend. for 25 euro's i just looked up how much it cost you to use the train u mentioned once. it would be 40 euro's to paris
