Everything has a season, or an age and the sun is setting on what this country was and this isn’t a lame political statement either, it’s deeper than that. If you have a passport that has reciprocity with the United States with the Visa Waiver Program just come visit for 90 days. However I am sure that you are on a list. I do get it, I understand but you didn’t have to renounce, I don’t judge you, again I understand. I just am maybe not quite where you were or are at but I understand and probably for the same reasons. Think about the kind of people who work at the state department and run this country. They have sown the seeds of animosity and it’s harvest season. I understand the sentiment of “not in my name”, but do we really have a say, I guess we don’t or haven’t been voting hard enough. When I retire I am moving to Portugal or Brazil and I do have my CPF and the NIP or whatever it is in Portugal and a bank account in Europe.

As an American born and raised, I never fully understood how free we are NOT until I moved to Europe. The U.S. does not make it easy to leave. They punish you for leaving. All about the money.
I love America so much that I was heartbroken when I moved out! What a beautiful place with so many opportunities and wonderful people yet the past 10 years were so difficult! From taxes to dealing with hateful people to the very low quality education and healthcare! I’m still heartbroken and I wish things change for the better.
I left the US in 2009 and never look back. Why? Civil Asset Forfeiture, Qualified Immunity, privatized/for-profit prisons, racism, unfounded hatred, legal costs, medical costs, high taxes, housing costs.
The US is a sick country. Its stressful to live here due to toxic politics, high inflation, high crime, high taxes, crumbling infrastructures, traffic, road rage, joblessness, health staff shortage, high cost of gas, high cost of electricity, plenty of scammers in everything, corrupt governmental agencies, trashy and lying news media, etc. etc. In a lot of parameters, America is worse than many third world countries or countries in the Middle East. I voted and participated in the electoral process in the hope that things might change for the better but pragmatically, I think America is beyond saving, its not worth saving. If I am younger and have some money, I would leave in a heartbeat and not come back.

That gets you out of any draft that might happen in case of war. The next thing you should do is take what ever pledge they have, and then check out their military draft. Good luck.
Thanks well said, I don't agree that America is a 3rd world country 😊 well there's Mississippi, Arkansas, Kentucky travel to those states and you might believe that statement, the divide between the wealthy and poor is unbelievable it's depressing. I am Canadian, lived in New York from 1992-2003. August 1, 2005 I moved to Europe and have never left and have absolutely no need to set foot in North America ever again. Life in Europe is so wonderful.
I wonder how many people working TSA, customs etc. at US airports don’t have a passport of their own and have never been outside the USA. It would explain a lot.
My visa application for Spain is nearly complete. I am moving in January and will not look back. I’ll be happily spending all my retirement money in Europe 🎉😊
When I retired in Jan 2020, I went to Asia for two months (intended to stay for several more to do humanitarian work, etc., but Covid intervened). When I came back, I was interrogated about why I went to Asia for two months. They went through my bags, my phone photos (assuming I was a pervert) and tested a souvenir for cocaine powder.... Seemed the agent was determined to find something. All on assumption or a hunch based on that fact that I was single and went for an extended period of time. No criminal record, I have Global Entry (FBI background check required).... appalling. I am going for second citizenship in Lithuania under Citizenship Restoration program. Maybe additional citizenships. Come back to see family and friends, admin. stuff. Have not spent more than 3 months per year in the USA since 2021. Life is good.
Question from a layperson, just out of curiosity. Aren’t you an American citizen? Couldn’t you have refused to answer the questions and especially to show your private contents on your phone? What could they do if you’re an American citizen? Since they can’t deport you or prevent you from entering your own country?
Wise move my friend. I had the same issue coming back from Thailand 🇹🇭 in November 2019. I only go back to see family, friends & work on residence retirement for a Mediterranean country then head back overseas.
@@nomad6384because you would get arrested for trafficking. They would take a picture of you and post it on the internet with the crime they think you committed. Then a few weeks later the whole thing gets thrown out because they didn't find anything. But your picture with the word trafficker stays on the internet forever.
@p.3.1415.z I remember going through a similar process when I came back from Colombia, only it was when passing through Costa Rica that I had a big angry looking Tico policia go through everything, test everything for drugs. It's worth it to swallow your pride and just let them waste their time going through all your stuff and finding nothing, and badgering you with endless questions. It's a 15 to 30 min inconvenience and hassle versus not cooperating and being detained for hours, days, could be weeks if they decide they don't like you. Then you have to pay legal fees, buy new plane tickets home, probably get in contact with an embassy. Not worth it.
My family went to my country of origin for vacation and never came back. I am dismantling everything so i can move and go after them. i love America. i love the people, but this place is falling and beyond repair 😔

Living overseas for a couple years, I met people who haven't be back in 20 years. I told them if they thought it was bad then, you have no idea how far we've fallen.
Just leaving my mark here 4 days after the US decided it wanted authoritarianism instead of democracy. Earlier this year I was in Japan for 5 months. I’m planning on moving there and never coming back. It was safer, cleaner, more affordable, had much better infrastructure etc. It gave me a taste of what an actual first world country is like.
I have told ALL my acquaintances & friends/family to GET OUT while they can. Unfortunately, for those of us stuck here because of health, age, etc. 2024's election confirmed EVERYTHING educated people had been warning us about since 2015. The collapse of the democratic republic means it's never coming back. As this guy points out -- we get what we deserve.

I love my country but I am afraid of my government. Maybe I am naive but I never thought that would happen. Until 2017 I didn’t see our democracy as being fragile. The fascists that my dad and Uncles fought against now have unchecked power in America. I would leave if I could.
What's holding you back? In 2021 I quit my job, sold or gave away most everything I owned and retired early. I now live and eat like a Rey (King) about a mile from the beach in Mexico. It's by far the best thing I've ever done for myself! Buena suerte!

Eastern Europe might be an option for you. Bulgaria and Romania are highly underrated, cheap and you could likely navigate some type of work permit. Those countries are comparatively safe and the people much different than their reputation. Albania also. Close to UK as well. Watch videos about these. SE Asia is great but you must have a source of income. Keep hope, pick a destination, research, save up, work extra, sell everything and jump. The ship is sinking
Is it just me or does it seem like the larger population nations tend to be more authoritarian? New Zealand with a population of only 5 million comes across as one of the least authoritarian nations. I'm I missing something? Or is it just Puritanical US and UK culture?

Moved to SE Asia in 2002 and have been enjoying the growth, opportunity and excitement. This past summer I returned to the U.S. for my aunt's 90th birthday. From passport check that treated me like a suspect to the trash, decay and my family's depressed attitude... I'm seriously considering renouncing my citizenship. It's difficult as my family fought in the revolution. If I could talk with them, I believe they'd encourage us all to leave. They went to where they were treated best, why shouldn't I?

There are many places in the US where you don't have much worry about violence. They are out in the suburbs or in rural areas. The media plays up this side of violence, but it is not the whole picture. This may change, and likely could due to economic collapse, but that has not happened yet. If economic collapse hits the US, the rest of the world could also be in one. There are many reasons to leave the US, but this is not a great one. Many countries have dangerous areas or could have regime changes or wars break out. As times get hard in a country, their citizens may not be happy about non-native citizens migrating to their country--likely buying up the choice property. I have read that citizens in Portugal and New Zealand are now questioning property purchases by non-native citizens. I think you are better off keeping dual citizenship if you can. In case of world wide war, the US is geographically more isolated. If you have war in Europe or in the Asian rim countries, you are much closer to conflict. So the idea of safety is more nuanced.

I’ve been “pitch forked” for leaving Australia. The abuse I’ve received from my siblings, ex wife, children is incredible. They call my new home a “third world country”, dangerous, lacking all the wonders of Australia. But I’m happy in Armenia :-)

The toxicity in the US is high. Fortunately a couple potus terms ago I disengaged in conversations with family and friends about politics, it was a great choice. Parents both passed on since then, so glad we stayed away from that for most part. My fear about the US is that so many folks are fired up about things and are so uninformed or misinformed. No one reads anything. So the education level is plummeting in the masses and working classes, and the passion about things is rising. I just read George Washington's farewell speech 9/17/1796 about 20 paragraphs in, he talks about not getting too caught up in the spirit of party, this party vs that party, you/me, them/us, etc....even warns against getting too regional in hardline group think so to speak. He goes into US relations to world as well. Of course basically what he warned about happened years later in the civil war. And today his words are playing out in real life, it is uncanny, he talks about a party spirit dominating too much over another, leading to misery of mind that then "gradually inclines the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual......." Anyway, I read these forefathers writings, predicting of dangers, and you see the dangers here. I don't think we are totally done yet, but it took a 250 yrs or so to get here, not sure if there is any way to get smart again. I think US is still productive, innovative, and has superb university offerings and training, but I think the working class (my early background) is fodder for the cannons of division and political power seekers. And I suppose there is a limit to how much one can live with that before thinking about options.
I so.much agree with what you wrote. I wish more Americans will go back and read about their history, the founding fathers and their ideas for this country. In general I wish they read more and made education, having knowledge and integrity cool. I beleive that Americans are inherently good, but thw climate in our country right now cis clouding that. They are coming after YOU TOO. Naturalized or granted amnesty citizens are on the Project 2025 list. Don't believe me then contact your state reps. Your legal status means nothing. Trump invoked using the Alien Act. The gov used this act to arrest deport and detain 2nd and 3rd generation Japanese American citizens (born on US soil)at the onset of WW2. Whole families were put in detention camps in California. The business and property these citizens lost were never returned repaid or returned.
Knowledge is power. Being born in and growing up in the US gave you global version of growing up in the school of hard knocks, or growing up with street smarts. So yeah, you can't go back to the old neighborhood, because the old neighborhood has become a dump, and no one you knew lives there anymore. You can't go back.
It's funny how the mainstream media doesn't cover this guy. Or the thousands of people commenting about escaping the US/west. I left the US and will MAYBE only go back one more time to visit friends and family that I miss. If I ever step foot in the US again it will definitely be my last. Living like a king in South America now and glad to be watching the the fires of the US political and social structures from afar instead of being in it. I moved to South America, bought a car in full within 2 months, and just closed a deal on my first house which most of my generation cant even begin to imagine doing in the US. My wife can be a stay at home mother when we have kids and I can support us and our large new house with my single income. Not to mention for the first time ever in my life I've had more than $100 in my savings account. Up to $13,000 now (all within about 7 months) and also have extra money to put into a retirement account and other investments. My life has completely changed since I left the US. We joke about it and my family calls me an "american refugee" but the truth is that more and more people are wanting to escape the USA and are finding it difficult to because of finances, visa/residency challenges, etc. Keep doing what you do Andrew. Giving people freedom means getting people OUT of the United States.
When we arrived in NYC (legally), this was the greatest country in the world. Brooklyn was safe. Then things started changing. Looking back, I often say things started to turn sh?t after 1969. It was good for my parents and me but things have not been as good for me as they were for previous generations and they are are worst for my children. This country is starting to become more like the former Soviet Union. Hell, Argentina is starting to look better, LOL! America was the land of opportunity but now is the land of opportunists.

They either get it or they don’t. It’s like Stockholm Syndrome. They are sympathizing with their kidnappers. They keep voting for the same people that make their cities and states unlivable. What can you do? People are afraid of change.
The average American never travels outside the USA, except a handful for military service and almost none understand geography much less foreign policy. Americans live in a world of video entertainment, look at the recent elections, they appear more like a traveling music show, than a tour of political ideas and Americans are taught to fear anything foreign. The American story is a hero story motivated by a fear of the other. The real quality of life in the USA is dropping and the USA is isolating Americans for a virtual world.

Is the military propaganda of patriotism. The idea the all the world is actually equal in value can't go throught the ego. But is funny because US was created with immigrants, even natives used to be nomads, and now hate them. We humans are always moving. I left the US for study and work and ended up making Canada my home. I regret nothing and am seriously considering the renounciation of my US citizenship (I'm a dual citizen). I find that my homeland keeps getting worse every year.

@ no worries. Siem reap is very affordable if that’s an issue and it’s relatively easy to fly to other places in the region. Lots of nice beaches and highlands to see.
I was born to a British expat in the US, and haven't been there since 2004. I've been using a British passport to live in Germany, and haven't missed the US at all. It's much safer in Europe and much easier to get around. Plus, you don't have to worry about winding up homeless due to a sudden medical emergency. Besides being one of only two countries in the world that has citizenship based tax laws, the US has also tried to make it difficult for people with US connections to have a bank account and investment accounts abroad. This doesn't only apply to US citizens. Even people who have held a green card within the past three years are considered US tax residents, regardless of where they are in the world. As I'm worried that I won't be able to open a bank account if I move to a new country, I'd like to renounce my US citizenship. That costs over $2,000. There is some talk that the fee will be reduced to $450 soon, but there's no word as to when it's going into effect. When I contacted the US consulate in Frankfurt about getting a renunciation appointment, I got an email back warning me about the grave consequences of losing my US citizenship without any specific mention of what they would be. If US citizenship is so valuable, it's odd that it costs so much to get rid of it.

I left Sweden 17 years ago. Never regretted it for a second, in fact I wish I had left a lot sooner. US might be heading in the wrong direction, but at least there is a (very small) chance US can fix things. Sweden however, and most of Europe, is completely gone. There is no hope for EU(SSR).

All I can say is that 1984 is almost here, and the EU(SSR) is only a couple of decisions away from becoming a totalitarian unit. There is not a single area, not a single law, decision, country or institution which is not heading right for the cliff. I am still in Europe, but not for long. I was studying a foreign language, getting ready to leave. I talked about it proudly. I never hid anything on my phone or internet activity. I was at the point that I needed to make very serious plans and pack up. Suddenly a company I had worked for a number of years ago reported to the IRS that they paid me 250k , which I was never paid and now I owe 43k in taxes. I told the IRS to show me the transactions from this company to my account and find that money and I would gladly pay half of it to taxes, because half would be more than enough to leave. No game. I literally was told that I pay or can commit suicide but I'm not going anywhere. Still here.

My last trip to the US was in 1980 . I have never been back although its still regarded as a dream Country by many here in Ireland .I just felt like an Alien there which i really was .
I’ve lived in Japan for almost 1 year and 3 months now and going. I like it here and don’t plan to move back to the United States. After I get permanent residency I am considering going after Australian citizenship so I can country hop in the future and pick the climate I want to live and work in seasonally. Also working on citizenship by descent in Italy. Maybe I’ll consider Argentina in the long-term as well since citizenship only takes two years there.
I left Wisconsin when I exceeded my lifetime maximum of sub-zero winters. I'm now retired in the Philippines. I didn't leave America and I can't go back. The country I was born in no longer exists. It's possible the United States will develop into the sort of country I would like to visit. I find it highly unlikely that such a thing would happen during what remains of my lifetime.
I'm finally leaving for good on Nov 30th to retire on my farm overseas. I have never been happier in my life! I feel like I have suffered the stress of 1000 lifetimes living here.
I left Switzerland few years ago as soon as the first wave of covid finished, went as soon as possible to Asia. Switzerland is like a mini version of the U.S. no regret at all !

I'm a dual citizen (US born, CR naturalized). Be aware that Migración (DGME) processes are long and difficult, even for asylum as we have many applicants from south and central america for political and financial hardships. Collect all your documentation before leaving Italy and be prepared to get them again once Migración "loses" your file 😅

I've always been a traveler. Prefer international. Visited, lived and worked in dozens of countries. So I found myself back in the USA at the age of 70. Couldn't stand it. Too much BS. So I took off and now I'm in Mexico, and have been for almost seven years. I like it just fine. No plans to ever go back to the USA.There's no reason to.
As a Californian I always was a business owner and never had a job until I decided to dump it all a leave USA after 2007 crash. Best decision ever. I would not return if it was the last place to take a 💩. I also get 🤢 talking to US citizens. Viva Mexico!

First you need to qualify for a resident visa and you need to have a permanent resident visa for at least five years before you would even qualify to take the Spanish fluency and Mexican history test in order to get your citizenship. You start by getting financial approval for a Temporary Resident Visa. If you have enough proven income and are at a retirement age you could get approved for a Permanent Resident Visa. First things first....BTW- I have my Temporary Resident Visa and in a couple years I'll be able to get my Permanent Resident Visa. Buena suerte!

I am on a month long roadtrip around the US West with my family. I was so excited to meet other people at the various campgrounds etc. We are on our 30th night. Not one conversation. Except here in New Mexico with the Mexican guy next to us. He's great. Silly thing, but a litmus test on the culture of our country and how far we have fallen.

I left the US decades ago and have zero interest in ever returning. Though I had been back on holiday once and business twice and on all occasions couldn't leave fast enough. TSA was a nightmare because you felt like they wouldn't let you leave and they looked at you as if you were a criminal. I didn't breath a sigh of relief until the mains touched down in Hong Kong, I was back home in Asia. The American dream is just that, a dream and you have to be asleep to believe it.
I’ve recently sold my house got rid of everything. I’m now in Mexico. Got tired of the high taxes & cost of living. I now live at the beach the weather is GREAT the cost of living is less than half. Are things perfect, no. But I’m a happy camper, enjoying my retirement. I can visit my family any time it’s only a few hours away.

Its stressful to live here due to toxic politics, high inflation, high crime, high taxes, crumbling infrastructures, traffic, road rage, joblessness, health staff shortage, high cost of gas, high cost of electricity, plenty of scammers in everything, corrupt governmental agencies, trashy and lying news media, etc. etc. In a lot of parameters, America is worse than many third world countries or countries in the Middle East. I voted and participated in the electoral process in the hope that things might change for the better but pragmatically, I think America is beyond saving, its not worth saving. If I am younger and have some money, I would leave in a heartbeat and not come back.

When I retired in Jan 2020, I went to Asia for two months (intended to stay for several more to do humanitarian work, etc., but Covid intervened). When I came back, I was interrogated about why I went to Asia for two months. They went through my bags, my phone photos (assuming I was a pervert) and tested a souvenir for cocaine powder.... Seemed the agent was determined to find something. All on assumption or a hunch based on that fact that I was single and went for an extended period of time. No criminal record, I have Global Entry (FBI background check required).... appalling. I am going for second citizenship in Lithuania under Citizenship Restoration program. Maybe additional citizenships. Come back to see family and friends, admin. stuff. Have not spent more than 3 months per year in the USA since 2021. Life is good.

@p.3.1415.z I remember going through a similar process when I came back from Colombia, only it was when passing through Costa Rica that I had a big angry looking Tico policia go through everything, test everything for drugs.
It's worth it to swallow your pride and just let them waste their time going through all your stuff and finding nothing, and badgering you with endless questions.
It's a 15 to 30 min inconvenience and hassle versus not cooperating and being detained for hours, days, could be weeks if they decide they don't like you.
Then you have to pay legal fees, buy new plane tickets home, probably get in contact with an embassy. Not worth it.

From passport check that treated me like a suspect to the trash, decay and my family's depressed attitude... I'm seriously considering renouncing my citizenship. There are many places in the US where you don't have much worry about violence. They are out in the suburbs or in rural areas. The media plays up this side of violence, but it is not the whole picture. This may change, and likely could due to economic collapse, but that has not happened yet. If economic collapse hits the US, the rest of the world could also be in one.
There are many reasons to leave the US, but this is not a great one. Many countries have dangerous areas or could have regime changes or wars break out. As times get hard in a country, their citizens may not be happy about non-native citizens migrating to their country--likely buying up the choice property. I have read that citizens in Portugal and New Zealand are now questioning property purchases by non-native citizens.
I think you are better off keeping dual citizenship if you can. In case of world wide war, the US is geographically more isolated. If you have war in Europe or in the Asian rim countries, you are much closer to conflict.
So the idea of safety is more nuanced.

The toxicity in the US is high. Fortunately a couple potus terms ago I disengaged in conversations with family and friends about politics, it was a great choice. Parents both passed on since then, so glad we stayed away from that for most part. My fear about the US is that so many folks are fired up about things and are so uninformed or misinformed. No one reads anything. So the education level is plummeting in the masses and working classes, and the passion about things is rising. I just read George Washington's farewell speech 9/17/1796 about 20 paragraphs in, he talks about not getting too caught up in the spirit of party, this party vs that party, you/me, them/us, etc....even warns against getting too regional in hardline group think so to speak. He goes into US relations to world as well. Of course basically what he warned about happened years later in the civil war. And today his words are playing out in real life, it is uncanny, he talks about a party spirit dominating too much over another, leading to misery of mind that then "gradually inclines the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual......." Anyway, I read these forefathers writings, predicting of dangers, and you see the dangers here. I don't think we are totally done yet, but it took a 250 yrs or so to get here, not sure if there is any way to get smart again. I think US is still productive, innovative, and has superb university offerings and training, but I think the working class (my early background) is fodder for the cannons of division and political power seekers. And I suppose there is a limit to how much one can live with that before thinking about options.

It's funny how the mainstream media doesn't cover this guy. Or the thousands of people commenting about escaping the US/west. I left the US and will MAYBE only go back one more time to visit friends and family that I miss. If I ever step foot in the US again it will definitely be my last. Living like a king in South America now and glad to be watching the the fires of the US political and social structures from afar instead of being in it. I moved to South America, bought a car in full within 2 months, and just closed a deal on my first house which most of my generation cant even begin to imagine doing in the US. My wife can be a stay at home mother when we have kids and I can support us and our large new house with my single income. Not to mention for the first time ever in my life I've had more than $100 in my savings account. Up to $13,000 now (all within about 7 months) and also have extra money to put into a retirement account and other investments. My life has completely changed since I left the US. We joke about it and my family calls me an "american refugee" but the truth is that more and more people are wanting to escape the USA and are finding it difficult to because of finances, visa/residency challenges, etc. Keep doing what you do Andrew. Giving people freedom means getting people OUT of the United States.

When we arrived in NYC (legally), this was the greatest country in the world. Brooklyn was safe. Then things started changing. Looking back, I often say things started to turn sh?t after 1969. It was good for my parents and me but things have not been as good for me as they were for previous generations and they are are worst for my children. This country is starting to become more like the former Soviet Union. Hell, Argentina is starting to look better, LOL! America was the land of opportunity but now is the land of opportunists.

The average American never travels outside the USA, except a handful for military service and almost none understand geography much less foreign policy. Americans live in a world of video entertainment, look at the recent elections, they appear more like a traveling music show, than a tour of political ideas and Americans are taught to fear anything foreign. The American story is a hero story motivated by a fear of the other. The real quality of life in the USA is dropping and the USA is isolating Americans for a virtual world.

Is the military propaganda of patriotism. The idea the all the world is actually equal in value can't go throught the ego. But is funny because US was created with immigrants, even natives used to be nomads, and now hate them. We humans are always moving. I left the US for study and work and ended up making Canada my home. I regret nothing and am seriously considering the renounciation of my US citizenship (I'm a dual citizen). I find that my homeland keeps getting worse every year.

I was born to a British expat in the US, and haven't been there since 2004. I've been using a British passport to live in Germany, and haven't missed the US at all. It's much safer in Europe and much easier to get around. Plus, you don't have to worry about winding up homeless due to a sudden medical emergency.
Besides being one of only two countries in the world that has citizenship based tax laws, the US has also tried to make it difficult for people with US connections to have a bank account and investment accounts abroad. This doesn't only apply to US citizens. Even people who have held a green card within the past three years are considered US tax residents, regardless of where they are in the world.
As I'm worried that I won't be able to open a bank account if I move to a new country, I'd like to renounce my US citizenship. That costs over $2,000. There is some talk that the fee will be reduced to $450 soon, but there's no word as to when it's going into effect. When I contacted the US consulate in Frankfurt about getting a renunciation appointment, I got an email back warning me about the grave consequences of losing my US citizenship without any specific mention of what they would be. If US citizenship is so valuable, it's odd that it costs so much to get rid of it.

I left Sweden 17 years ago. Never regretted it for a second, in fact I wish I had left a lot sooner. US might be heading in the wrong direction, but at least there is a (very small) chance US can fix things. Sweden however, and most of Europe, is completely gone. There is no hope for EU(SSR).

All I can say is that 1984 is almost here, and the EU(SSR) is only a couple of decisions away from becoming a totalitarian unit. There is not a single area, not a single law, decision, country or institution which is not heading right for the cliff. I am still in Europe, but not for long. Planning to move to South America (Argentina) next year.

I was studying a foreign language, getting ready to leave. I talked about it proudly. I never hid anything on my phone or internet activity. I was at the point that I needed to make very serious plans and pack up. Suddenly a company I had worked for a number of years ago reported to the IRS that they paid me 250k , which I was never paid and now I owe 43k in taxes. I told the IRS to show me the transactions from this company to my account and find that money and I would gladly pay half of it to taxes, because half would be more than enough to leave. No game. I literally was told that I pay or can commit suicide but I'm not going anywhere. Still here.
Everywhere outside US is cheaper than US, so of course you can afford, just cut the bills in US, and you can land anywhere you want!

I’ve lived in Japan for almost 1 year and 3 months now and going. I like it here and don’t plan to move back to the United States. After I get permanent residency I am considering going after Australian citizenship so I can country hop in the future and pick the climate I want to live and work in seasonally. Also working on citizenship by descent in Italy. Maybe I’ll consider Argentina in the long-term as well since citizenship only takes two years there.
I left Wisconsin when I exceeded my lifetime maximum of sub-zero winters. I'm now retired in the Philippines. I didn't leave America and I can't go back. The country I was born in no longer exists. It's possible the United States will develop into the sort of country I would like to visit. I find it highly unlikely that such a thing would happen during what remains of my lifetime.
Those unable or are too afraid to leave, being jealous, will lash out and belittle you. It's my life. I've only got one, and it is mine.

I'm a dual citizen (US born, CR naturalized). Be aware that Migración (DGME) processes are long and difficult, even for asylum as we have many applicants from south and central america for political and financial hardships. Collect all your documentation before leaving Italy and be prepared to get them again once Migración "loses" your file 😅

I've always been a traveler. Prefer international. Visited, lived and worked in dozens of countries. So I found myself back in the USA at the age of 70. Couldn't stand it. Too much BS. So I took off and now I'm in Mexico, and have been for almost seven years. I like it just fine. No plans to ever go back to the USA.There's no reason to.

@@judithscobee8102 You don't need citizenship to visit or live in Mexico. You don't just get citizenship in Mexico because you want it. First you need to qualify for a resident visa and you need to have a permanent resident visa for at least five years before you would even qualify to take the Spanish fluency and Mexican history test in order to get your citizenship. You start by getting financial approval for a Temporary Resident Visa. If you have enough proven income and are at a retirement age you could get approved for a Permanent Resident Visa. First things first....BTW- I have my Temporary Resident Visa and in a couple years I'll be able to get my Permanent Resident Visa. Buena suerte!

I am on a month long roadtrip around the US West with my family. I was so excited to meet other people at the various campgrounds etc. We are on our 30th night. Not one conversation. Except here in New Mexico with the Mexican guy next to us. He's great. Silly thing, but a litmus test on the culture of our country and how far we have fallen.

I was groped so badly at Schipol airport in the Netherlands, that I never want to go through that again. I love Holland, but this experience has soured me on going there again. I know of what you speak. And.. thank you so much for removing the sound effects. They truly did not add to your content.
I left the US decades ago and have zero interest in ever returning. Though I had been back on holiday once and business twice and on all occasions couldn't leave fast enough. TSA was a nightmare because you felt like they wouldn't let you leave and they looked at you as if you were a criminal. I didn't breath a sigh of relief until the mains touched down in Hong Kong, I was back home in Asia. The American dream is just that, a dream and you have to be asleep to believe it.

I’ve recently sold my house got rid of everything. I’m now in Mexico. Got tired of the high taxes & cost of living. I now live at the beach the weather is GREAT the cost of living is less than half. Are things perfect, no. But I’m a happy camper, enjoying my retirement. I can visit my family any time it’s only a few hours away.
I have not moved but definitely renewed my IFE and passport to get ready for the homecoming
