I once read a very valuable advice about collectibles (not watches, but the argument stands) : there's nothing wrong in either collecting or investing. But you can't do both. If you collect, you are more interested in the object than its value. So you will probably be emotionally too invested to part with it in time and you will lose value on the market. Investing on the other hand has little interest in the object, and everything to do with profit, buying for as little as possible and selling at a market high no matter what.
Collectors using the "investment" card to justify their collections are deluded.

You can buy for as little as possible, and keep it.

In my experience, rarity is not a major factor when it comes to value retention. It is the demand and hype that usually drives the value upwards.

You're correct!! No matter what happens to the other brands. Everybody will always gravitate to a rolex, hands down, all the time 😅

Everybody??? Always??? 🤔 As any physicist will tell you, gravity is a weakest of forces. Although you may be right about “hands down”; you have to keep a Rolex hidden and never look at it to tell the time otherwise some scrote will see it too and rip it off your wrist. 👍😂😂

As a novice... Just buy Rolex. Never wear it. Place it in the vault. Wait 30 years. Sell during a high time. Done. You will earn $400K off a $25K watch. Of course by then a cup of coffee will cost $150. Hmm.

If you bougth a Rolex at its peak you lost a shit load of money. Just like you can in risky stocks . Rolex has become a ponzi scheme, where few fools many . Its easier to fool someone, than convince them it happend 😂😂.
