- As a single woman from Ireland, I’ve taken on the incredible challenge of renovating a 200-year-old abandoned cottage, and it’s been full of surprises! In this video, I continue my DIY renovation and journey to starting my own homestead.
We have finances sorted out, builders ready to start. All that's missing is grant approval before the renovations can really kick off at the cottage. But that means I need to get myself into gear and really get working on removing all the plaster, chipping away the cement, and lifting up the wooden floors.
Join me as I take you step-by-step through this exciting discoveries and the hands-on renovation of this old home. From tearing down walls to tackling DIY tasks on my own to starting my own little homestead and hobby farm, this journey is all about bringing new life to an old cottage while embracing the challenges of rural living in Ireland.
What I get up to in this episode:
Before we can take down much more of the wall, I really need to clean the mess up from our last time there. Then I get working on removing more plaster and cement. Also, Autumn (or Fall) has come to Morrigan's Cottage, so we take a lovely little walk around the area.
Hope you enjoy!

As always your support and feedback is SO appreciated.
Morrigan's Cottage is a 200 year old traditional stone cottage set in the west of Ireland on just under 4 acres. Originally this house would have been used by the local farmers, rented from their British landlords. Dated back to at least the early 1800s, someone has been consistently living here and farming this land since then, up until about 4 years ago when the house was left vacant by the previous owners.
