Hi Nick, well done! Thanks for the honest review of our Scionon Grafting Shears. We would like to get in touch with you and advise you on how to improve your results to make even better cuts. We can explain how you can do the tongue cut with minimal damage to the wood and advise you on other useful functions. If you wish, please contact us.
Nice review. By the way, I was lucky to successfully graft Fuji, Pink Lady & Winter Banana. Unfortunately, I'm still looking at gold rush chip bud graft, it hasn't broke dormancy🤞🇯🇲.
I’m left-handed, so it is nice to hear they have a lefty version, but would suck for anyone I lent them to. Like when your last hockey stick breaks and everyone else playing is a righty.
It's a very hassle and frustrating just wanting to purchase this grafting shears coz they would redirect you to their site without knowing the price for each shears and more the problem with shipping. .Why can't they not just display them on Amazon, Ebay or Alibaba for easier access or orders?
My personal advice, avoid the tongue. Any damage is still taking away from its full Potential, unless you absolutely cannot hold the piece in place to tape it, I say the tongue does not aid in better take percentage. Could be beneficial in getting grafts done quicker as a team if someone is walking behind the grafter and taping the scions but himself is not making the cuts. But for solo operations, I don’t like it.
I bought one Zenport and one from Ukrain.Zenport blade is very cheap and soft.Would be better to replace with better one.The ukranian blade is better, but cuts are bad,so would be good to buy Scionon(if they where cheaper)
@@valerie8217 for large diameter wood, it takes several swipes of a knife to get a good diagonal. Where this can get it in one or two tries. When grafting material is not limited and many grafts need to be done, this tool saves time not graft material. And time is money
Hi Nick, I tried framework grafting to an established apple tree this year for the first time. I started my grafts about a month ago (mostly cleft grafts) and its been pretty cold so far this spring (I live just a couple hours away from you so you would have a pretty good idea of the weather Im experiecing). If I started my grafts in mid to late March, do you think they will still be fine and eventualy take when the weather warms up? (given I have done the other steps correct such as matching cambium tissues etc.) Im wondering how long the grafts can sit there before any of the healing or callus tissues begin to form.
It’s a bit early for my preference, I like to start no sooner than April and preferably mid April because take percentage is better when juice is flowing. Apples are resilient though, and will most likely still be fine. Grafts take longer to bud out than actual tree buds. Will likely not see any movement until may maybe later
@@nickkasko2097 thanks Nick! Im looking forward to all your orchard updates this year! Do you by chance happen to have any Ambrosia apple grafts that might produce fruit this year? I would like to see your review on that apple as its one of my favorites and its mostly grown in the Okanagan (where it originated as a chance seedling) just a few hours away from my location. I planted my own Ambrosia tree and Im still waiting for it to mature and produce fruit so I'm not sure how the apples will turn out here on the coast in our wet/humid environment.
@@nickkasko2097 Hmm I wonder if you just had a bad specimen and was not stored properly. I've noticed that Ambrosias can be either really great from the grocery store or either really bland if not kept properly (as with most store bought apples) Hopefully you are able to get some fruit this fall to give it another try.

Their website is simple, easy to navigate. I got my shears from them. What issue are you having? Price is displayed and everything
Nice!
I think the damage will heal quickly without any permanent problems.

Very cool! Little pricey!

Plz share ur success percentage with this tool with everyone
Very nice👍
Is it's blade is single bewel
The blades are actually triple bevel. I make them!
Update, the $35 version is complete garbage, can’t even get one good cut with brand new blade. Returning

I've tried many. From my experience, hands are always the best tool, especially when the grafting material is limited, and you value every bud.
