  • Two cars of a Canadian Pacific train derailed in a suburb of Chicago on Sunday. The train derailment happened around 12:45 p.m. in Franklin Park, leading to closed crossings and hours’ worth of cleanup. One car was carrying wheat and the other was empty, Canadian Pacific said in a statement. STORY: www.fox32chica...

It doesn't help having a massive train with loaded and empty cars all mixed up through out the consist, they ride very differently, the springs are loaded on one and high on the empties. Then you have 3 or more engines on the front so that's a good 12,000hp ready to rip the train apart until the air line finally busts.

These railroad track need a bridge every mile or so...for people to cross for situations like this! I understand that the cost would be too much for every road but at least make it so people can detour every couple of miles.

Kasey Chronis is darn cute but still, could she make her eyes look any more wide eyed as with shock and awe than she did in this segment?
The train appeared to have been moving eastbound leaving the area of the Bensenville Yard on the IHB main. It negotiated the west crossover to enter CP's own Elgin Subdivision south main and then stopped with the lead units east of Edgington Street, just west of the IHB interlocker. At this point the trailing truck of the empty centerbeam car SOO 600675 had apparently picked the point of the facing point west switch of the west crossover and gone on the ground, derailing the lead truck of covered hopper MWCX 463549. The derailed trucks were at about the location of the trailing point east switch of the west crossover.
The train then began to shove back, either to yard the train or pick up a cut from the yard. The shove worsened the derailment by pushing the two cars back through the crossover until the crew must have seen the covered hopper begin to tip over 1/4 mile behind the locomotives. They stopped the train at that point. The only reason the MWCX car did not roll over was because it remained coupled to the cars before and behind it in buff mode. Still, the degree of tilt forced the car behind it, CRDX 15528 to also lift and tilt far enough that its lead truck eventually dropped to the ground.

@@RomeKG471 Ukraine is a way better investment than all the other wars since WW2. This is a historic chance to get rid of Russian aggression for a very long time, maybe forever. So far, only 2% of the NATO military budget has been invested in Ukraine. It still is a cheap war effort. Russia is all in and it already is so desperate that they have to take Stalin era tanks from the museums to the battlefield.
Half of the European countries are buying huge amounts of new weapons and the USA still is one of the biggest weapon exporters, earning huge amounts of money. How many Himars systems and F-35s and ammo would have been sold to European countries without this war? It's American companies who get insanely rich right now. It's American companies who hire a lot of new employees to produce all the systems that have been ordered. This already is a way better economic outcome than could have been expected a year ago and it gets better every day.
At the same time, united support of Ukraine is a very strong message to China and North Korea: Don't mess with us and our friends!
The bad investments happen inside the USA. How can it happen that the economic crisis caused by Covid (or by the Covid restrictions) resulted in an increased number of millionaires? How can it happen that railroad companies earn a lot of money that goes straight to the share holders' pockets, while nothing is used to keep the infrastructure alive? The USA has a third world style railroad infrastructure and the railroad construction companies still work like in the 1970s. Have a look on European railroad construction technology. It's way more advanced, way more efficient. Yes, it's way more expensive too, but that investment results in faster, more reliable trains that earn even more money and reliably supply the industry with all the resources it needs.
