- Sensational 1970's Aussie 50's-style band OL '55 regroups in 2002 on Carols by Candlelight.
It features all the original members of OL '55. Frankie J. Holden lead vocals. Wilbur Wilde on saxaphone. Jimmy Manzie on bass guitar. Patrick "Meatballs" Drummond on lead guitar. "Rockpile" Jones on guitar and vocals and Geoff "Drainpipe" Plummer on drums and vocals.
This original lineup formed in 1976 with their best-selling triple-platinum album Take it Greasy which stayed in the charts for nearly 40 weeks. About 26 years later, around the time Frankie J. Holden had his 50th birthday they reunited for a series of two concerts in Melbourne in 2002. It was just over three years after this performance on 2 February 2006 that the drummer Geoff "Drainpipe" Plummer sadly passed away.
Great song thanks for your wonderful music guys awesome band merry Xmas to everyone who loves great music 🎅🎅👍👍😍😍
the greatest aussie band ever
Thanks for sharing this treasure and the comments being correct is a blessing, well researched John.
It's disappointing they didn't have Geoff's mic turned up while he was drumming. I just love his bass vocals, especially in this song.
Ol 55. Classic Aussie band
ty :) shared on a seventies page x
Hi John, if you still have the video of the 2002 Carols by Candlelight, would you please upload Marina Prior singing "O Holy Night" and "Angels We Have Heard On High"? I have long since lost my VHS tape of this carols and it was the best I've ever heard "O Holy Night" sung. Thank you :)
