I am a 70 year old 4 wheeler in Northern California and I love your videos. My latest edition truck is a 2020 toyota Tacoma TRD off-road and I am just amazed at how you off-road. Keep it up!
I am from Northern California and I have owned lots of off-road vehicles in the past. One was a 1984 Subaru wagon off-road stick that just didn't make it. My 77 jeep j7 was outstanding and my 85 bronco was very capable. My Tacoma is the best of all. It is like my 47 willy jeep
Thanks Jon, learning lots from you. I am just back from 22 000 kms in 52 days w my '19 Passport. Hamilton, Ontario Canada to Tuktoyuktuk NWT and lots in between. I remove back seats and installed a bed w storage underneath. Had full size spare on DirtCom's Trailswing w fold down table. Also used Ecoflow battery & solar panel.
Since you already had your rear upper mounts modified to fit the Ridglines, the Bilsteins seemed to fit fine. But do you know if the Bilsteins would fit the Passport/Pilot rear uppers without the need to expand the openings?
@@k20z3allmotorFTW I have a 2019 Pilot FWD and 22 Ridgeline Sport which feels a lot better than the Pilot , suspension wise, the Pilot rear struts and springs feel to soft for me, what can I do to make it better (Pilot)
I had some for a few years in the rear of my car, designed for the front of a first gen Tacoma. All I had to do to mate them with the stock Subaru upper mounts, was cut the unthreaded part of a steel pipe nipple to act as a spacer between the shaft mounting plate and the threads, to form a new mounting base for the upper strut mount. Ended up acting like a 2" top hat spacer on my Subaru due to the added length. When I pulled them out a few weeks ago I saw one was completely blown and had leaked oil everywhere - I suspect it melted down when I melted the Flatout GR40s up front while racing through the desert wash west of Afton Canyon... The spring rate was a little high even with the softest Tacoma springs I could find (OE spec 4 cyl 2wd?) but it felt GREAT when the camp gear was loaded.
First, this was awesome, and I cannot wait to see the kit become available. Second, thinking of shocks/struts for the Honda's, do you know of anyone who has used or reviewed the Flatout Suspension lift coilovers for the Honda platform? I have been debating the GR Lite kit they offer that gives 1-2" of lift, but with no trusted reviews out there I am hesitant to cough up the dough. Given they are adjustable coilovers rather than spacer lifts, I would think they would be a good option, assuming the quality is there. Only moderate review I have seen was by RenegadeHQ and those were on the Gen1 Ridgeline, and I am curious about them on the Gen2.
Thanks for watching JG! So, I should have anticipated that someone would bring up Flatout Suspension. So, true story, Manny tried to install their “one size fits all” kit into a 2018 V6 Mitsubishi Outlander GT and it required a solid 8 hours of Labor and took more modification that getting these Bilsteins to fit. Another true story is a guy that goes by @awdtank on Instagram. He bought the Honda Pilot kit and it did not fit. He went forward with widening the top hat hole (involved cutting and bending the metal subframe, and it still didn’t fit. I can’t believe a company would sell a product that doesn’t just “BOLT ON”. If Manny sells his kit, it will be a direct bolt on. Actually, he prepared the Bilstein 5100, and it would go right in. Sorry, I just can’t recommend Flatout until I hear that it’s a direct bolt on that doesn’t require any cutting. I won’t hold a grudge with Flatout, they just need to make a product that goes right in. I’ll be going on a Colorado trip with @campingrandy. I’ll make sure to interview him about his Flatout GR plus kit.
@@JonDZ_Adventuring exactly what I needed to know! Thank you! This is why I was hesitant given the lack of trusted reviews, leading me to think they were more work than advertised. Your channel remains my go to for honest info, you tell it (and show it) how it is. Edit: I had the small traxda kit on my old 17 ridgeline, but haven't lifted my 21 yet as I am leasing with intent to buy at lease end (although a trailsport trim could change that plan) and then lift. I did put larger tires on it for some modest gain, I had wildpeaks on the 17, but gave Nitto Nomad Grapplers in 255/65 a try for the 21. They work well but with no lift there is a bit of rub when compressing the suspension and reduced turning radius, wishing I had gone 265/60 instead although it may have still been a problem with the extra width even at the reduced diameter.
@@JonDZ_Adventuring I'll be looking forward to this interview. It's sad that now that Eibach no longer sells the lift springs, there is no other option other than Flatout for non-spacer lift mods. We need more aftermarket support!!!
Hey Jon, it’s Jon here! lol. Is there any place to find the details on how Manny got these to fit on your and his trucks? I have a 2017 Ridgeline that has a 2” Traxda lift, bed rack, and RTT, and it’s time to replace struts anyway. I’d like to upgrade if possible. Any info you or Manny can hook me up with would be awesome! Thanks for all your content and dedication to the Honda off-road community!
Hey I have a 2021 passport and I’m trying to slowly turn it in to my dream over lander. I need to get ride of the 20” wheel. Any recommendations on rims and tires?
Hey Devin, I’m just going to copy and paste what I told you on Instagram: crossoverlanding.com/honda-overland-build This article will have your answers in regards to wheels and tires. You need to know the bolt pattern for your search. If you’re trying to build out an overlander like mine, then get wheels that are more offset. Buy one and cry once. They’ll cost more, but better than having to buy twice. A wider wheel track = more lateral stability, and you might need that to run roof mods like a roof top tent. Good luck with your build!
I feel like you bought the wrong platform. You're wasting money. Honda doesn't offer a low range or regearing so it'll never be that great of a Off-Road vehicle. We put 265/60r18 on my Gf 2021 Passport sport and it definitely robbed power and mpgs. (to try and help the garbage ride the 20's have. The 18's didn't really help) I can't imagine running 33's. Especially trying to crawl 😳
Watch this video about once a month, dreaming about the possibilities of my Passport. Your build is awesome!

Thanks for the kind words Rod 🙏, that’s quite a number of vehicles that I’m sure made a lot of memories. Thanks for taking the time to interact!
Kudos to Manny for cross-referencing parts which I like doing myself.
Love central tire #5!
Don't rely on the OD from manufacturer. Just calculate the OD from the specifications. My 33s are really 32.6.
The things you do to this rig blows my mind 🤯 keep it up 🤙🏻
I put some customed valved 5100s on my 1995 Montero SR. Night and day difference off road with them compared to the KYBs.
Great channel! Love the videos!
Hi Jon! Tell Manny, his truck looks great! Love it! Hope you and everyone are doing great! The 33's on the Passport look sick! Love it!
I’ll screen shot and text him 📱. I’m very happy with how everything came out!
Doing Gods work blessed my Jon, manny, and centraltire5 🙏
Looking forward to checking out the build in a few weeks!
wow - so interesting. That kind of customization is impressive =)
Aldo is the man!
I agree!!! Good dude!!!
Ventura FTW 😊
Great city. I need to visit the beach when I visit!
Great upgrades!
Need to start getting all the stuff set up to do the spring mod on my 19 passport w/ 2" traxda lift
Awsome video!
Thank you 🙏
Bu, Bu Hast! RammBilstein!!

What about the front?

So actually we had to revert back to passport/pilot top hats on Jon’s rig. The bilsteins can. Be made to fit all three mid sized Honda platforms

Do you know of any Honda Tuners/Lift Kit installers in Texas? Particularly someone that does subframe lifts.
I do not, but if you contact Traxda USA, they will have a listing of recommended installers.

All tires seem to be like that. The bfg's are the worst. You'll buy a 35" and you physically measure it, it's only 33"
Did u use the bilsteins for a "ram truck"??
Curious how many miles did you put on the old tires before replacing it? I still have my ATW Wildpeaks on my 2020 TRDOR 4runner with only 33K miles
Where is this shop at brother?
