Buffalo system... Special 6 suit . 4s outer, 4s inner and thermaliner. Far outclasses every sleep system anywhere at any price. I like the rest of your kit .
It all looks brand-new and unused; especially the stove and pots. I too came to the conclusion that a tarp and tent are a cracking, versatile combination. Trial and error is a wonderful thing.
I agree that tarp/tent combo is the way to go for flat(ish) areas. Hammock on rocky or uneven ground where a tent set-up wouldn't work. Great to see you're back in a good 'space'.
I’d never use an Osprey ever again. Every Os pack I’ve bought is making squeaking noises right behind my head. Once heard it’s impossible to unhear. And my tent of choice would be a budget one just because of the sparks.
My son and I both have the Aether 70 packs. Mine is the first gen, his is the second. Best packs ever made imo. Relatively light, rugged, great at carrying heavy weight when needed. I have about 1000 miles on mine.
I’ve been slowly building my kit for over a decade. Most of the items you showed are a in it, except the tent and sleeping pad. My knife is a Mora Garberg. Cheers dude.🤙
I was about to say if you wanted to come to Canada next year, I'd be happy to take you to a few places I really like - but I'm not sure how comfortable I am with you " looking through my sack", as it were. Never, ever go cheap on an axe. A good one will never let you down, and you can pass it on to your grandkids.
Have you noticed how the trees in woodlands and especially the tree tunnels growing over roads look like the pillars and vaulted ceilings of cathedrals. Look up from time to time. Not talking to you Haze. Just leaving a comment. Love your energy. X
cracking kit, good emphasis on first aid, often overlooked, plasters are u/s for a big wound from cutting tools or buried glass, sharp rocks etc. I have taken first aid classes at st johns ambulance, you hopefully will never need it, but if you do....
My kit's pretty well worked through by now (although i'm always looking for that 'perfect' pack) but i swear by a tarp or two (tree or groundwell by circumstance). As to that Petzl headtorch: I love the idea of it but feckin' hate the actuality of it. Ah well, was worth a punt (it could of been good). Hope the person who gets it loves it. Respect to the Haze.
Hazey - Hope this finds you well, in just over 2 weeks summer will slowly be on our way back to us! Just to add the Enan, I use my Nammatj 10mm pole (can buy sep) and what i would say I have yet to find a stronger/better strenght to weight for UK use, its also super flexible re conditions, used one for years, tested when it had the thinner kerlon along time ago now, since replaced with the kerlon 1000. It's classed a yellow label, but it certainly well exceeds that performance envelope, I've used mine in all conditions, split the side guys to 2 anchor points, elastic bungees on the corners for pitching ease, and additional guy on the ends. Can attest used well past 3 season conditions, never let me down, prefer the venting options to the soulo (have the red label), and well its pretty solid for most use scenario's. Much prefer the ends to the Akto (roof height banging in face etc) but why they didnt put that rain cover over the door is stupid (i had one added). Wool i don't know why (poss weight) is stil the best stuff for UK use, cannot beat a good wool blanket. Gets wet, still going to keep you warm, won't go up like a bonfire either around a fire. All the high end sciency stuff is nice, but yea i honestly think all that science hasn't found anything better than wool, nature does it best. I would add recently swopped out a microalpine jacket for an isobaa one with merino insulation (sports persuit), so so good! Check out brand isobaa, they make some really, really decent stuff. Wont pack down as small, heavier but for UK wet climates its so good (you will have to ask Santa Fern lol). Peak summer/mild/high UV im taking a cheap tent, unless say going remote for a period of time say on the Cape Wrath when weather is not guaranteed. As for the xterm, 100% i've used pretty much all mat's over the years, thermorest are a clear winner re xtherm. For summer i use their topo lux, excellent value, comfort etc. In winter I always carry though a closed cell matt, yes adds ground protection but its one of those in winter and remote, to not have one is a bit insane, esp if solo (easy to roll onto if screwed yourself up also in an accident). Tent / Tarp all the way. For those on a budget, ex forces military bivy bag and a tarp, and forces bags are sound choice and will protect you in all conditions. At the high end, Carinthia stuff is also bomber, lasts for ever and well if in conditions that you cannot stand up in, its about as good as it gets (pricey though, heavy but VERY durable). One last thing, try and get yourself to Norway/Sweden in the late spring, think you would love it, think Scotland on steroids. Winter is very harsh and yea its a different skillset. One last thing, i cheat lol, i use wax and cotton wool balls (make own at home), always handy to have and as vital as a decent flint. You can stay anywhere on earth, in any cold, if you have a fire going and know how to use it. I'd also add having a couple of tealights with you are useful. Safe travels.
Awesome looking kit from top to bottom. Good luck to everyone who is able to enter. Sadly im from Arizona in the US. Would definitely be a full year tent and sleep system in my area anyway
I think that's an excellent set up... I have same colour aether 55L. Way better than alot of aesthetic packs .. I think if people wanna save alot get a vango banshee plus DD tarp. Id also urge people to consider Laplander rather than Silky
@woodnugget1301 hi mate ... I think I would say if your fitness level is good id be tempted to maybe get 65/70 mainly for big sleeping bag ... You will get it all in or on the 55... But I opted for the 55 for load discipline as I'm 60 ... If I was thirty I'd go 65/70
Cheers for reply im 61 and reasonable fit so maybe 55 worth a look. I do have a atmos 65 but when I use it it’s never really full except like you said winter sleeping bag. Most the time I use a 48 but sometimes it’s just that little bit to small. Cheers anyway

Canny bit of kit lad . I watched a film last night and the main man I thought was the double of you, it's called Dangerous and it's Clint Eastwiods son , you may think I'm radged until you see it lol
Lots of top gear in that video. It's not something I'd do all the time or even most of the time, but I like a pack where I can fit absolutely everything inside. Not sure if that's possible with the wool blanket and the Aether 65, but maybe it's too big for even a larger pack. I'm curious about (water) virus protection - do you think that's just too difficult to achieve or not necessary in a bugout pack?
I am a long time watcher. Love your stuff! But I just can’t and won’t join Facebook, sorry. But I still love ya man! * I did not need Facebook! Sorry * Supported!
