  • So originally I was not intending to film this flight, but felt it was quite a good opportunity to set the camera up and just film anyway. Especially as I was unable to film the DFW-LHR sector of this trip.
You join us at Tampa for a flight onboard a rather ageing Airbus A321 on our hop to Dallas Fort Worth. Storms in the area have prevented a direct route over the Gulf, instead our routing takes us along the Gulf coast towards New Orleans before heading inland towards Dallas Fort Worth.
    A few notes:
1- The data on screen is sourced from FlightRadar24 and does not properly sync with the video. I have done my best to get it as close as possible but you will see that the map overlay does not fully sync with the video. Its all a learning process so I will try and use a darker map overlay next time.
2- I did not film much inflight today, mainly as this was a work trip and I did have some work to crack on with, so you may hear the clattering keys of my laptop!
I hope this flight provides you with some nice ambient noise to sleep or work to anyway.

I feel jet lagged from watching this video.

Nifty cloud views! It's really great to have the speed and altitude indications and a map in the corner. Is that airspeed or groundspeed? Do they have to avoid high-altitude jet streams (always coming from the west of course)?

Hi. Yes I'm really pleased to get the speed and altitude. On this occasion I believe it was to avoid weather more than anything as I believe they would take a more direct route across the gulf. The cloud views are really great! The southern states do bring the best formations!

That’s a real shame about the LHR video

It is. Sadly it was a jam packed flight with no windows left. Disappointing but that's the way it goes!

    Fact check:
Nothing personal with the crew but why would I do something I didn’t get paid for or as a courtesy when these airlines charge passengers for using every inch of the airport much less the aircraft. Professionally speaking, they should hire someone to handle all the business inside the aircraft including shutting the window shade.
