Amazigh has a special place in my mind. He was the first NEXT I have ever fought (and I got beat MANY times by him). He also played a big part in me gravitating towards fast lightweight NEXT designs.

I think he had the opposite affect on me as I went heavy next for the longest time after my fights with him.

Amazigh's portion always hit hard on me. By any standard Amazigh is a hero, yet the way you take him out (in the normal mode anyway) is just villainous…… it really set the tone that you aren't playing a goodie-two-shoes character in a adventure story, but a morally grey one who had to do anything he could to secure a place in this rotten, broken world dominated by the corporation. Funnily enough Anatolia's mercenary would go on to be just like him in the next game and be taken down more or less in the similar manner.
Armored Core really was a very special series.

    • @armoredcorelore

That really is it in a nut shell. I like to think that this is one kill the mercenary always looks back on and is what finally drives him to help link ark years later. Also a special series indeed, no arguments here.

It really is a dog eat dog world out there. I believe in Armored Core 3 there's a story mission in which a Raven attempts to assassinate you. I fondly remember his dialog. We're both mercenaries, just do what comes naturally.

@@aaronofastora2308 That would be Zine. He was a top ten ranking Raven who sat right beneath Valkyrie in the arena. Highly agressive combat style with a medium weight biped that weilded a heavy shotgun, dual spread rockets, and a moonlight, which he he used very often. Whether or not he was trying to assassinate you or was assigned to defend the facility you were attacking is kinda up in the air tho

@@aaronofastora2308 The emulator PCSX2 works fantastic for me on PC. You doing even need good hardware to run it. I remember running on an old laptop from 2015 with a GeForce 930m and it worked flawlessly. Upsacles games really well too, so I was able to replay all the PS2 AC games at 1440p and with the exception of AC2 and AC2AA, they hold up really well. No bugs or issues except for some admittedly serious frame drops in one specific spot in ACSL.
There are loads of easy to follow UA-cam tutorials out there that could have you up and running in less than an hour. Maybe give it a go some time.

By far one of my favorite pilots in the entire series, if you dig deep into the connections behind the different names and linguistic underpinnings surrounding Amazigh/Barbaroi you can find a wealth of knowledge. As is standard for the rest of the pilots for the most part.
One thing great about his character is that the cause he fights for is almost a direct representation (or in the context of AC4, a natural continuation) to the actual history of the Amazigh/Berber people of North Africa, a people who fought against French occupation and freed themselves from a state of a secondary citizenship in their own territory, revolt against the Umayyad Caliphate, and in the game, revolting against a coalescing and imperial coporate conglomerate.
And in regards to White Africa, it's certainly possible that the faction represents Boer/Suid-Afrikaner people, but it's also possible that "White" denotes something outside of ethnicity and points to something likely spiritual or maybe social. Either way, in North Africa, while in some regards disparate, there are many fair/white skinned Berber/Amazigh people the reside in the territory and can be called that. Really it's all up to speculation because there's not really much detail in the game to come to a definitive conclusion, at least as far as I'm aware.
Good video as always bro keep it up.

There’s some stuff in this that’s missing IMO.
Amazigh and the Maghrib Liberation fronts are all Islam/Muslim references. Maghrib is a reference to the Maghrib prayer. Where you pray during all segments of the day, and then one last time at sunset. Sunset is where you fight Amazigh.
Next, Barbaroi is a Reference to another Islam figure. Heyreddin Barbarossa. If you look at the schematics of Amazighs AC (And Sus) Their designers name is Heyreddin
Cool topic, but I feel some more could be added. Fine video

The hectic boss battle in the sands of a barren desert against the setting sun while he boosted about outside the range of my ability to track him, was what got me hooked to AC as a series. However to simply throw my thoughts out there I believe either it is named that due to the large white population living there or more likely we're looking at a place that is starting to suffering from Kojima contamination. @zeon_zaku 2 роки тому +5

@@armoredcorelore this doesn't directly answer the question, but it might be a hint.
"Black Africa" is an other name for "Sub-saharan" Africa. As I said in the other comment the "Amazigh" people are form North Africa (i.e. NOT sub-saharan), and the Greeks called the Amazigh "Barbaroi." North Africa is also NOT sub-saharan (not "Black Africa"), so maybe the japanese writers assumed, that North Africa was also known as "White" Africa.
In addition The Maghrib Liberation Fronts' two main strongholds are in North Africa: Eritrean Stronghold (said to be on the border of Chad and Libya on the Wiki) and Gelts' Fortress (said to be in Morocco). The Amazigh people live in these areas, and both Libya and Morocco are considered the Maghreb.
As well it makes more sense for Anatolia (Turkey) to compete with the Maghreb, because both are Mediterranean.
Amazigh also uses an AC manufactured by Eqbal/Algebra. "Eqbal Ahmad" was the name of a Pakistani civil rights activist, who participated in the Algerian Revolution. Algeria is of course also in the Maghreb, and they are also ethnically Berbers/Amazigh.
So in general it would seem to make less sense for a european-descent South African to be concerned with North African liberation. It would be furthermore unusual for a european South African to call himself and his machine "Berber" and have all of these associations with North African things. It is not impossible of course, but it would just seem very odd for him to be South African.
