I think that would have scored very low as it is not a European city/country and not derived from the country’s name as most of the answers given. I think the other poster was winding you up - there is no way 89 people would have thought of Barbados. The top score was in the 30s.
@@williamgeoffroy835 But that's not the country's name, that's it's title. For example Canada is officially Dominion of Canada, but nobody ever calls it that.
San Marino also could've counted. And depending on how you qualify Vatican City, which is an observer non-member state of the UN, then that too. They both have their capitals' names be the same as the countries'.
i would have answered belmopan for belize! i wonder how that would've scored! i knew maputo and mozambique but couldn't remember it until richard revealed it (but tbf i stopped trying to come up with more answers once i had belize hahaha)
Papua New Guinea and Port Moresby over here!
That’s the one I eventually came up with beyond the obvious ones such as cities derived from their country’s name.
I’m surprised nobody went with city states.
Singapore and Monaco are so obvious.
Brunei and its capital Bandar Seri Begawan would have been eligible, but I am sure few if any responses from their survey sample.
But… that’s the whole point of the game?
I wonder how many points would score Barbados/Bridgetown.
89
@@adamgrimsley2900 Thank you very much indeed ! 😝

I wondered how many people said Belize/Belmopan.
That was actually the first combination I could come up with.
I felt pretty good about that answer in my head, tricky because it's central america but not the country's name city as capital
😏🫡
I wonder if they would have accepted Seoul, South Korea.
Absolutely. Good one
They might not have since the country’s official name is something like “the people’s Republic of Korea”
@@williamgeoffroy835republic of Korea

@@abeartheycallFozzy Canada's official name is just Canada. A better example would be the United Mexican States.
Djibouti and Djibouti City
Algeria.
First one I thought of was Guatemala
San Marino also could've counted. And depending on how you qualify Vatican City, which is an observer non-member state of the UN, then that too. They both have their capitals' names be the same as the countries'.
Spain and Smadrid.
United States and Uwashington (spoken with a Jamaican W)
Took a minute but Panama was mine. No mention of that one.

Mozambique / Maputo
Singapur
I thought of Guyana (Georgetown) and Maldives (Malé).
Mónaco, Montecarlo.
Monaco is a city-state, so the capital is Monaco. Montecarlo is an administrative division within the city.
Monte Carlo isn’t the capital, Monaco is, so you’re still right
Kuwait was my first guess
Djibouti and Djibouti
Very tricky round!
I actually thougt of Sri Lanka, but I couldn't have said the capital, just knew it also started with Sri
Isn’t it Colombo?
@@leemc4278It used to be but now it's Sri Jayawardenepurra Kotte
Haha. I had exactly the same problem.
@@leemc4278 Colombo is the judicial capital still, but the legislative capital is Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte
Same, I just know it starts with Sri and never remember the rest😂
I'm sure Burundi would be a pointless answer if it weren't out of date (they changed capitals from Bujumbura to Gitega in 2019).
First thought was Algiers/Algeria.
Guatemala and Guatemala City
I'd say this one will get 1 or maybe 2: Maldives and Malé.
Belize
I was thinking Tunisia/Tunis, and Algeria/Algiers
Brunei
I said Brunei and Bandar Seri Begawan. I also came up with Maldives and Male.
what about Singapore?
Does Singapore fit into this category? I don't think the island has a capital city but the entire island is the capital city, sort of.
Technically Australia and Canberra as the full name of Australia is the Commonwealth of Australia.
Marshall Islands
Marshall Islands Majuro
Male and Maldives
The title is so dumb
