Astounding. Even in this old, low quality recording, they sound like one voice. Not one of them sticks out on the choral parts. Their sound is so tight and the individual vocal timbres match so well that it sounds like one person over-dubbed her own voice doing all the vocal parts. Just incredible.

My grandmother used to sing this to me whenever I cry and it makes me happy whenever I hear her sang it, so yeah we move to the city many years later when I visited my grandma only to find out that she's dead it really hurts that a person you love the most goes away without even saying goodbye. How did they cooperate so well, remember the words and parts so flawlessly, and each have such a natural instinct for blending with the other 3 sisters? Loved this so much. I am nearing 77yo, and have to say that the old music is the best. So much of today's music is just a noise to me. The old music usually has melodies that "one" can easily hum or whistle to. Thank you for sharing this video.
My grandmother used to sing this to me whenever I cry and it makes me happy whenever I hear her sang it, so yeah we move to the city many years later when I visited my grandma only to find out that she's dead it really hurts that a person you love the most goes away without even saying goodbye. Just like the song "Whatever will be, will be the future's not ours to see".

Their intonation here is exquisite. Their expression and phrasing are so in sync with one another and the harmonies so tight that it sounds like it's the same voice over-dubbing each part, the way the Carpenters or ABBA got that incredibly tight harmonic sound, but it's four different ladies. Incredible musicianship.

I LOVVVED THEM! They were a little older when I got to see them every time Lawrence Welk was playing that my Aunt wanted to see. I just wanted to see The Lennon Sisters.. They were always my favourite part of the Show. I looked forward to seeing and hearing them, always, always. Great Group of Singers. The youngest was my Favourite. Always outstanding, their performances, just perfect but made to look so easy. I have rehearsed and learned arrangements all my life, I know it is not easy, but takes work. How did they do it? How did they cooperate so well, remember the words and parts so flawlessly, and each have such a natural instinct for blending with the other 3 sisters? It's always amazing, and my hat is forever off to them.
I agree. It is a lot of work and dedication to harmonize with others. There was this one interview with the Lennon Sisters where they said they'd use a record to sing on stage with their pre recorded voices. One time, on the Lawrence Welk show their record started to skip. One of the sisters admits to trying to refrain from laughing as the record skipped. The interview is somewhere on UA-cam.
