The reason for the front adjustment wheel around the shutter button is for stills. I don't have the mk2, but I've used an Olympus E-M1mkii in the past and it had the button around a button set up, never had an issue with it.

On the G9ii, you can assign a button to "Operation lock" and customize wich part of the body are locked (rings, buttons,
...). It's useful if you don't want to change the shutter or the aperture accidently

In an interview with the Director of Imaging at Panasonic, he says the G9ii does dual gain boost at every ISO at up to 60fps automatically without needing to engage it manually. It's quite remarkable what they did. The DR Boost was the biggest issue for me with the GH6.

Considering Panasonic now has three WiFi registered cameras in China, and the one which might be the GH7 is way back to september 2023, the wait for new announcements are pretty hard.

Well, #1 turned out to be the S9. Another full frame craze. I wonder if will will see any new MFT this year.

I had the g9 and was very pleased with it. Advanced lately to thr G9ii and it's ausom. Excells in almost every aspect compared to the G9.
Great image quality, including the wonderful b&w options.Advanced features including high resolution hand held. User friendly .The new phase detect a.f. is a game changer.Excellent results.Better to customize main features in order to simplify the use.

I've seen a couple of sales and there's also a special trade-in deal which can knock $500 off the price. Sadly, I don't have the money to pick one up right now.

interestingly, I like the dials in E-M1II which is similar like in the G9II better. when I got the OM-1 I just realized that those kind of dial layout is not for me (like th GH6 was). I was afraid of G9II that form factor and size won't be good for me that I really like the feel of it.

It was a good buy. I never used the flip up screen on the Gh6. They are so small anyway I had to buy a monitor.

I am not sure why you complain about g9 screen. For serious stuff someone would use an external monitor anyway.

You are not sure why, because your use case, and or preference is entirely different. These guys are professional filmmakers and videographers.

@@4sightfilmsLLC haha and professionals use the tiny build in screen? So the big externals must be for amateurs then.. 🤣🤣

We use both, the 5” atomos shinobi sits on top of the camera for general monitoring (composition, exposure, white balance, etc) but a nice benefit of these Lumix cameras is that you can program the LCD to automatically punch-in when you start manually focusing and it works even while you’re filming. So imagine you have a nice beautiful bright monitor up top to frame your shots but a simple glance straight down will show you a 6x magnified punch-in for critical focus.
