Doing this musical for school this year was so much fun, meeting Heidi via Zoom meeting was so much fun. She's so funny and talented; I enjoyed being able to learn more about the production of Freaky Friday and know its history. I love this show more than words can describe. Being able to see the original performance on UA-cam makes me happy, too. Everyone is so talented and I'm so glad I got to be, although only somewhat, a part of it all. Freaky Friday had seemed like such a fad when I first started. I truly never thought I'd ever truly come to enjoy it, but I've fallen so deeply in love with the music and characters.
My favorite part is how they change harmonies when they switch back it’s super cool to listen to and it shows the attention to detail that went into this. Really though this show shouldn’t have been as good as it is. I was expecting it to be terrible but it’s actually not bad at all.
Elie wasn't two seconds over in gym. She started over at 57:16 and ended at 57:47. She finished the challenge in about 30 seconds and was well under a minute.
Can't wait to see this on Disney channel, But watching this I already know that some parts are going to be taken out 😢. It's such a great musical the way it is.
I know! I wonder which songs are going to make it in. The preview already shows that "Somebody Has Got to Take the Blame" is gone. I have confidence, though. I think Disney Channel can do it justice.
I saw this in DC and in San Diego and it’s honestly my favorite show ever. Every single choice, every beat, every choreographed move, etc... the list goes on. Heidi is a SHOWSTOPPER. ✨ I could talk about this show all day and this comment section makes me feel a little more sane. Ha!
I didn’t intend to get back into this fandom, but I recognised Emma Hunton’s name when listening to a musical called “The Mad Ones” (which is AMAZING and highly underrated) and it dragged me back to this.
When all you can do after watching that adaptation of this as a DCOM is say why this is better and why in the world did harmless things have to change for the adaptation (why is Fletcher a magician instead of a ventriloquist for example). I'm so happy this is here so I can see the superior version of this musical. Thank you so much for uploading it.
Michael Griswold I think Fletcher being a magician works than doing puppets. Perhaps the late father could have owned a magic store, and Fletcher is trying to become one.
PSA for all the idiots in the comment section!!! 1. This is Freaky Friday the Musical. The video is only titled Trippy Thursday the musical because the person that posted it doesn't want UA-cam to find it and take it down due to copyright laws. This is a common theme for musical theatre bootlegs so there is no need to question or correct it in the comment section. EVERYONE KNOWS. 2. The Disney Channel movie adaption of this musical came AFTER this stage production of the musical. Not the other way around. Also, yes the mother is played by Heidi Blickenstaff in both. Freaky Friday was first a book, then a movie, then the movie was remade, then the stage musical, then the movie musical. Also, lots of things were changed in the movie musical due to the fact that it aired on Disney Channel and they didn't want to use some risque jokes/scenes that might upset the parents of the intended audience for the movie. 3. The quality of this video is shit, but you don't have to point it out, everyone knows this. Bootlegs are illegal so the person that recorded this did so secretly and illegally and could not do a good job because of it. Just be grateful that this video exists and that the only Freaky Friday musical that we have to watch isn't the Disney one, as, like I mentioned before, lots of things were changed/taken out that were actually quite good.
Don't know why people were being rude in the replies to you I know some people would be confused I was yesterday when I found out that there was actually a musical!
I know it’s overdone, but I’d recommend Anything Goes from Anything Goes, being as it is an alto part and I’m pretty sure Savannah is an alto, or at least a mezzo-soprano.
Omg. As a kid reading the book and watching the movies, I totally sympathized with the kid more. But now I find myself sympathizing more with the adult... 😱 What has happened??? Lol
@@warnegoodman lol I didn't get the role I wanted but I had fun with the musical regardless. I ended being Gretchen, one of ellie's friends. The cast had a great time and we all cried together on our closing night lol

I got to see this in Cleveland. Lots of fun! I don't think the Ellie in this production is doing the Disney Channel adaptation, which is too bad.
She wasn’t in it, because she’s almost thirty and apparently she didn’t fit the tenth grade aura.
The Ellie of the movie is great too!
*EXPECTO SWITCHUSBACKO!!* is that a harry potter reference?
Kinda?
Kinda expecto patronum is what you are referencing
My high school for our school district is doing the pilot of this and I just side and I literally died it’s literally the same!!
Shimmer and Slime ohhhh that’s sooo cool!!!!
YESSSSSSS BHS!
Same!! My school is second in the state when it comes to theater
this show is sooooo underrated!!!
Lola Mundt the movie on Disney is so so awesome
M Rayside bring my baby brother home gets taken out I watched it last night
RAD Besties yes it is it’s the freaky Friday movie
I love this musical so much I've watched it in so many high school musicals
"go" is so pointless but so freaking beautiful
That guy sounds like Brendon Urie a little
Yass
Which one?
@@harleylaufeyson6136 Adam
He kinda does.
yes yes yes yes yes yes!!!!!!
AHHHHH I LOVE YOU AMY!!!!!!
Lol, glad to see someone familiar is watching this 😂😂😂
**gasp** Amy, how dare you break the law
**wink**
well fancy seeing you in this here comment section!
18:21 can we PLEASE talk about the dude in the pink shirt for a second because he's actually the star of this show
Dude I saw that too!!!
Laurel I think
aNd i WaNT mY pInK sHIrT
My favorite musical PERIODT!
"Parents Lie.." wow I was mesmerized.
Soooo grateful for this. I’m playing Torrey in my schools production and this has helped me so much with developing my character!
I love Scary Saturday
I saw this in DC and in San Diego and it’s honestly my favorite show ever. Every single choice, every beat, every choreographed move, etc... the list goes on. Heidi is a SHOWSTOPPER. ✨ I could talk about this show all day and this comment section makes me feel a little more sane. Ha!
I'm in love with this show. If it got some tweaking, it would be good on Broadway. Or at least I would appreciate it.
It is on Broadway
@@thelegendfortune unfortunately, it never made it to broadway.
This is the last musical I watched, before the lockdown, a mate's school play. Missing freedom
I was so happy that my school got to do this musical this year of course that was before the corona virus but I'm still excited
When Ellie punched Savannah,I about died!
They need to release an album with the La Jolla cast
This play was in some of my dreams
I didn’t intend to get back into this fandom, but I recognised Emma Hunton’s name when listening to a musical called “The Mad Ones” (which is AMAZING and highly underrated) and it dragged me back to this.
Any UK based fans here? The Arts Educational School, London is doing this show til the the 25th of January. Go watch it, it's amazing
The musical score reminds me a lot of If/Then and a hint of Wicked..
Written by same guys who did next to normal and if/then
i love manic monday the musical
Just be grateful that this video exists and that the only Freaky Friday musical that we have to watch isn't the Disney one, as, like I mentioned before, lots of things were changed/taken out that were actually quite good.
jesus christ salty much
Aurora Crisp Literally no one is commenting these things.
Heidi is hilarious on stage. A true comedy actress
Don't know why people were being rude in the replies to you
I know some people would be confused I was yesterday when I found out that there was actually a musical!
I just love freaky Friday so much xx 😘
Same
It’s Davia from _Good Trouble!_ Seriously, why didn’t I find this sooner?
My school is doing this as our spring musical! Does anyone have any good audition songs? I’m auditioning for Savannah
I know it’s overdone, but I’d recommend Anything Goes from Anything Goes, being as it is an alto part and I’m pretty sure Savannah is an alto, or at least a mezzo-soprano.
@@bilbodoggins1677 Savanna sounds like an alto bit with a very solid upper mix.
i would say that you should sing it won’t be long now from in the heights
Our school did this and just finished the last show a few hours ago
You're going to have so much fun if you haven't performed it already. Our final show was yesterday. I was Monica and had an absolute blast!!

Heidi just went rogue at 1:20:51
When she hit that high note
FUN FACT: she went higher on most performances but she needed a break
Omg. As a kid reading the book and watching the movies, I totally sympathized with the kid more. But now I find myself sympathizing more with the adult... 😱 What has happened??? Lol
That’s funny, with me it’s the other way around 😅
1:39:41 Did you know that Mrs. Time in the 2018 Disney Channel movie version of Freaky Friday is the VA of Penny Ling in Littlest Pet Shop?
The dude who sung"go" actually did good
This is a pretty adorable show. :)
I'm so excited to do this Musical at my school. I will be playing Fletcher Blake.
I love this musical Theater 😍🧡💜🖤💛💚💙💗💋❤💓💕💖
My high school is about to do this musical in may! We audition in a couple weeks! I hope I get a role! *^*
good luck!
Good luck! 💕💓💕
How did it go?
@@warnegoodman lol I didn't get the role I wanted but I had fun with the musical regardless. I ended being Gretchen, one of ellie's friends. The cast had a great time and we all cried together on our closing night lol
How is this performance even better than the cast album? 😂
This is my favorite musical and it’s so underrated
I might audition for this show!!!
Love this show! 💙💙💙
I clicked cause I thought it was gonna be a funny parody but it’s the actual thing which is even better 😂💕
CEO OF HOLDING A CAMERA
Who is playing Adam here? His vibrato is gorgeous and I must know who he is. I checked the OBC recording and he doesn’t sound the same? Is it him??

Chris Ramirez
No the original cast recording (technically not “OBC” since it was never on Broadway) features Jason Gotay as Adam, who is brilliant.
Amazing vocals!!!
