Dada one doubt, we know that we use extraction process also when volatilities are similar. Then when to choose extractive distillation and when to choose extraction? I guess extractive distillation may be better because in extraction process, we need to distill the extract further and so we have an extra separation process and thus added cost too.
Great video! But I don't really understand what makes an entrainer appropriate for certain situations. Is it preferable for it to have a lower boiling point than the substance you want to evaporate? Should the substance you want to evaporate dissolve in the entrainer? If you have any tips for further reading that would be greatly appreciated!
Depends on the number of components used. If it is a multicomponent distillation all the 3 methods are relevant and are to be used one after the other.
@@LifeBeyondBusiness hi sir thank you for replying. in our case, HCL, PROPYLENE, PROPANE are the components and WATER is our solvent. I am in charge of the material balance in our equipment design. How will I be able to perform it?
Sir, for separation of PROPANE+PROPYLENE with entrainer -ACN in extractive distillation column. What method can I use to calculate the mass balance for the equipment.
Since it's a Multicomponent Distillation, you may use Lewis Mattheson for Stage to Stage calculation and to find out total no. of Stages or Trays in the column. However, Mass Balance can be done simply by Three Component Mass Balance Technique.

sir is isotropic distillation and azeotropic distillation same?
Perfect explanation, thanks. And I love the energy with which you explain.
Thank you!
Nicely explained.!
Very nice explanation
Good explanation bro ❤️
Cool!!
Very nice 🙌
Good explanation and finally I clearly know what are the difference ! thank you very much!!
Excellent explanation sir. U solved my doubt
This is the best explanation to this subject
Crystal clear❤️thankyou sir
Good. Very good.
Clear explanation sir 👏 very much helpful
Nice video sir...
Really nice Sir
Thank you so much!
Nice explanation sir
Great job...I wish you would get so many students and likes/subscribers on UA-cam.
Very good sir nicely explained
Thank you! Keep following our page!

Extractive distillation is always more preferable as you don't need to undergo further separations in series
@@LifeBeyondBusiness I guessed right, thanks for clearing out dada👍🙏
Thank You Sir.
Thank you!!

How we are getting ethanol at the bottom
sir, what method will i use for the msterial balance of extractive distillation? is it fenske underwood gilliland?

You can try Lewis Matheson Multicomponent Distillation Method for tray to tray calculation!
Sir what about the maximum boiling Azetrope??
Max Boiling azeotrope is formed when two individuals compounds with lower BP mixes together to form higher BP azeotrope

@@LifeBeyondBusiness Thank you so much Sir. Will try my best to do it 😊
Your accent is like Arnab Goswami
Am I supposed to take that as a compliment 🤣🤣
