To all the kids watching: Use ceramic tweezers! Metal and powered circuit boards don’t mix. BTW i would love to see what type of cell did they use in the goggles, is it possible to modify it and put 21700 cells? it could be a nice upgrade from 3000mah to 5500 with replacing the cells only.
@@cherryfruit5492I know a lot of flyers and every single one of them does. Not to mention long range flyers and definitely wing flyers stay in the air much longer. I’ve personally been in the air for an hour + in a single flight landed and taken off again shortly after.

How about a different mod... 3d printed backplate with some holes/lid allowing to remove the cells? Obviously we would need to mod the cell holders a little bit but this could mean users could just swap cells in the headband directly?

Can we keep the integrated batterys in case, and just add a DC Power Jack Cord Socket 5.5x2.1MM Threaded Female Mount Connector Adapter for conecting external power with barrel conector ( like on Goggles 2) , and add a small Rocker Switch 3 Pins 3 Position ON/Off/ON to have a comon - wire conected and switch between + from internal battey or + from external battery with a bec and a diode like in your video? When its switched to internal battey you could charge it normaly with usb-c. Will that work?
Guys. Why dont all companies let users have video in and video out on Fpv goggles throught usb-c hdmi thing ? Dji is kinda like apple as in they want us to buy new goggles or hardware for any new release they do. Its going to reach a time where they make for example a literal usb cable that only work with dji products and only works on specific drone models unless u pay more money. 😡 that time is coming Guys !
Hey Mads, can you test the RF power of the Goggles 3 and compare it to the RC2 / RCN2 controller sometime? I feel like the O4 range and penetration of the controller (standalone) is much better than with the controller (RC link) and Goggles 3. Thoughts?
Is there a way to have some kind of a switch. So that you can use both. E.g. that we have two xt30 which can be plugged manually to switch between the power source ? So if the internal bat is empty, you just unplug the xt30 for this one and plug in the xt30 for the external bat. In this case you would have both ?
Honestly.. yeah the battery strap is kinda uncomfortable... but its nice to not have wires... but I just have my same Speedybee same lipo.. and plug it in to goggles just like I did with goggles 2. just USB C cable instead of the 5.4mm barrel (which always fell out) So how do you attach a new strap ?
This battery nonsense is why I haven't even entertained the idea of upgrading from my V2's. Nice being able to use any of my drone batteries. The mild upgrade in performance you get with the G3 isn't worth it, imo. The V2's are the Goat.
Hey guys, Ukrainian military here. The mod he is making is way too complicated and the BEC he is using is unreliable. I remove the batteries and solder an MR30 connector to all the places on the original battery. Then I make a pair of 2S5P batteries and connect the balance port to the MR30 connector on the goggles. But here we need to place a small non-latching button on the goggles. You need to be able to short the negative of the battery and connect it to the negative of Ian on his mod. This is needed to open the switch in this circuit after connecting the battery to the goggles. I find this a more reliable mod and I can change batteries all the time.
Why would you go backwards, and having a battery lead dangling every where and battery stuck 8n your pocket ,,if its not broke leave it alone my mam says
Because once that back of the head battery goes dead for good, your goggles go down with it! It's just like cell phones now! Most people replace their cell phone when the battery life starts to suck! They're disposable! In 2027 the UK will have a law go into effect, the USA is seeing this too because of them, where all phones will be required to have replaceable batteries! Finally, the iPhone fvcked up no battery replacement feature will be gone! They suck! With Apple, it's all about them scamming you out of your money! Battery life is going - time to buy a new phone! No SD card ever, because Apple saw a way to make huge money on memory upgrades. SD card costs $15 but they charge you $200 for the same amount of extra memory! Rip off Apple! Goggles need that too Most of us preferred having the battery in our pocket with a lead to it. Allows less weight on your head and you can decide how small or large that battery needs to be! That's Much better!
Because it’s better to have a battery you can just swap and be done with it. When your battery dies on the goggles you have to charge or have another cable hooked up to fly.

Good idea🤟👍
Exactly what I was thinking
The answer to your question is literally within the first couple mins of the video...
Loving the G3. With its battery as is. Very convenient.
yeah the battery was a big complaint I had before I bought them but after using them I've found the battery to be more than adequate
I agree, who has enough drone batteries to outlast these anyways.
I only charge the goggle like once a week. And I fly pretty much every day!

I thought the same when saw the original batteries. Probably could change those for 18650 and problem solved, cheap endless power.
I was thinking the same!!
Why not use a 8.4v charger direct on + and - pads of the 18650 battery?

Amazing video thank you Ian.
Very cool Mod 👍🏻👍🏻
Great video 👍
i suppose you can do this for thee integra goggles?
Is there a specific recommendation for the BEC?
Not a necessary mod when usb-c splitters exist. They have ones that'll split power and data
It's needed if you are running Cosmostrramer as it won't change when you have video out.
@MadRC oof. That could definitely be addressed in firmware, probably won't be though

For use with a broadcasting/live view, couldn't you just mod the USB-C cord to split the power out to a BEC?

Unless this is about making it _less tight,_ the title should probably be "lose", not "loose". 😜
Just because you can don't mean you should. But I get it, educational purposes.
