Sis how dare you! This is not about culture this is about health, human rights, and a woman right to choose. If FGM was something you chose to do as an adult or of your own will then fine. However, you stated that you wanted to know the consequences so I challenge you to hear the stories and read the reports on the suffering and deaths of young women and girls who could not make there own choice for or against such cruelty. The fear and trauma is horrifying and by you glorifying this in such a manner, as a woman, woman of color, African Woman, you are feeding the false narrative that this is moral and just. With your exposure you should know the difference between culture norms and personal choice..you DNT live in the 18th century when we do not know about infectious diseases or HIV or complications from FGM. Today you have that information. Why did you run away to England? Because you had a choice..you did not want to be forced into an early marriage, so if you are really educated then provide the same choice to the young women in your country. Let then choose if they want to be circumcised or not. If all people on earth would have had this ideology of not improving something just because they were part of it where could we have been now? Could we even survive old stone age?
