I had a 2010 gold wing it look like yellow bird. I left Florida Beverly Hills pulling my camper and I rode to Tok Alaska on the way back I took route 80 W. I picked up 70 E. Rode over the Rockies 10,000 feet it was snowing above us. When is the Denver 25 down to Colorado springs and then I went back to Texas and back to Florida. 14,000 miles for the half months I took my time never had a. Problem with the motorcycle at the north end of the Alcon highway. I stopped to get the oil changed in my motorcycle. They charge me $286 for five quarts of oil and a filter. I said that’s outrageous. He said he had my keys. How was your knee problem my head the people in The Yukon and North and South British Columbia were absolutely wonderful machinery, of course was beautiful. I loved every minute of it, and I went alone.
As I’m contemplating this trip sometime next year, I see that you exclusively stayed in hotels. That had to run into real money real fast. Did you consider camping at all to help offset some of The lodging costs? Tks
You must be on your way by the time I watched this video. All the best, and stay safe and dry. I just returned myself from a 9000km trip on my DCT tour. The Honda performed like a champ. EDIT just noticed you are back home. 👍
Hi Walter I just stumbled across your Channel and so glad it did. As a fellow motorcyclist and GoldWing rider you have given me renewed inspiration. The videos of your trip captures everything I enjoy and admire about motorcycle adventures. Cheers
Hi Walter. I apologize if this question has already been raised, but which Metzeler tires did you put on the bike for the trip. Sounded like they served you well!
Do you know how much weight you put on the trunk lid rack? I am assuming how ever much you have in the bag didn't cause any damage to the trunk lid. Unless you might mention it in future videos. I just did a three dayer for the first time with 13 lbs and opening the trunk with the added weight was a problem sometimes.
Honda indicates 5lb load limit on truck racks. That’s it. There are riders who indicate much more. But I’d be leery of claims or you might find fissures in the plastic. Proceed with caution.
RC - the Alaskan trip was definitely a memory maker. You can see my complete trip I posted my u-tube page. There are 12 additional snippets that should be of interest to you.
Good morning and thanks for sharing your Alaskan series. How were the road conditions and did you pre-book all your hotels and what was your availability daily miles? Just subscribed to your channel and will watch the entire series.👍🏾😎
Wheeler, the road conditions were generally in good shape, however, I did have to ride on a fair amount of dirt roads that at times were wet. I would try and book tomorrow's hotel once I checked into my hotel for the night. Sometimes this required me to do a fair amount of searching before I found a vacancy. I typically rode 400 miles a day.
@Walter (Winger) Debus awesome and thanks for the speedy replies, hope you don't mind all the questions. I saw you had to spend $200 on one of the hotels, what was the average cost? And I could Google the information but I want to breathe life back into your series😎 So this was posted 4 months ago, when did you make your journey?
@@2Wheel4Fun I made the trip in June/July. The hotels in Canada and Alaska run $200+ per night. No bargains up there. However, my philosophy is: Save for vacation, not on vacation. I paid the money and didn't think twice about it.
Great info...... awesome video..... I plan on going that way from. Knoxville Tennessee next year and is open to this kind of content....... I'll be looking forward to seeing the trip videos on your trip....... I also do UA-cam videos check me out if you get some time
