My sincere thanks to you Gracie. You are living proof that the legacy that was bequeathed to us by our hard working ancestors' who made Britain great will never be forgotten.
Born Oldbury and a Baggie to a core. We call things as they are. No airs or graces. Football rivalries extend to Walsall and Wolves only, the latter at a push.
Wales has got a dragon, Scotland has a referendum 😂😂😂😂 that's because there basically diff country's actual country's part of the UK, the black country only has that name because of pollution in the area at the time when factory's and foundry's were the back bone of the UK
I was always told stand on sedgley beacon if you look to your left you'll see wolverhampton to your right bham, everything inbetween is the blackcountry!! Turn around, over looking sedgley, and everywhere you see, to your left facing dudley, and beyond up to bham (again), is blackcountry!!!.. To your right is south staffs and Penn, going into wolverhampton. SO NOT BLACKCOUNTRY!!! Some even say cannock for its coal but as they say. I aye soo shuwer abaert vat! Hope I've cleared it up, someone will disagree!! Spring vale and bilston fust towyns aert ov wulveromptun, un west brom last towyn befoyer brum or vice versa if yowm gooing uvva road. But wi' nahren steel werks nor pit, or ardly a foundary in syte aye exactly block is it?
It is NOT a reference to the number of ethnic folk there. It is a reference to the heavy industry and the fact that every where was black due to the soot from the coal that ran all of the metal working foundries that were in that area. It was called that way before there was any real immigration into the area.
