On this episode I am Building a TV Stand Out of Wood and Epoxy. I had the idea for this console when LG approached me to sponsor a video. When I saw the TV they wanted to promote, I was inspired to come up with something that had a floating illusion. I'm really happy with the way that it looks, and although it might be a bit gimmicky, there is still a lot of valuable woodworking information here. Building cases out of hardwood, frame and panel doors, sliding doors, building forms, making stopped dados, and more.
A Big thank you to LG for partnering with me and making this video possible. You can learn more about the OLED 4K LG E9 by visiting: lgoled.co/ChrisSalomone

Chris Salomone ,
Well done! I like your style.
@chris salomone, what are those sneakers? I need them.
What type of finish did you use at the end?
Hey! Chris! Why are there so many muted tracks in this video?
I'm always left debating whether I liked your build or your scripting & editing more... You have immense talent in both areas. I salute you!
All part of the same equation :)
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
Seriously one of the best looking pieces of furniture I have ever seen. If I had money, I'd commission this. Big winner.
The entire aesthetic of the piece is absolutely breathtaking. I love how the Beech and epoxy work together to give it a floating look. Excellent work Chris.
For anyone wishing to replicate this, particularly the clear epoxy joint Chris talks about @ 12:15 - instead of an "epoxy dowel" use a clear polycarbonate dowel - you could use clear acrylic as well but polycarbonate would be stronger, as the acrylic would tend to bend rather than snap or shear. Perspex wouldn't be recommended as it's a little brittle, with a higher shear factor. (10 years plastics industry).
PS, Chris @14:40 "tongue thing" is called a tenon. A "tongue" only refers to a small stub of wood roughly 10mm wide, as per "tongue and groove". Once you get bigger than roughly 10mm it's called a "stub tenon" and past 25mm it's a full on tenon.
PPS @ 16.59 - using a trim router, you can make a replacement base that has one side much larger (longer) than the other to give yourself a bigger registration area on the workpiece, and you can also put finger pressure on it to stop that rocking situation that all small trim routers suffer from. Major PITA when doing roundovers or things where you absolutely NEED a crisp 90deg edge.
The epoxy dowel idea is genius!!
Those Airmax 90s are great! The cabinet looks fantastic too!
3:45 smooth
One heck of a promotion! LG got their money's worth.
BTW, it's Thicknay
I love how you use the sketch up animations to describe what you are doing, so well done, so well done. thanks for a great video!
Well done! That looks amazing! I agree that the Beechwood looks great for this project. It works very well with that TV too.
This is my favorite project of yours to date! So good.
I was so excited to see this video on my feed! THIS TURNED OUT GREAT!
Thanks :)
One of your best yet! Really digging your out of the box creativity on this!
Really love the epoxy contrast in the base - the initial shock of "oh no - how it is staying up?!" is cool!
This looks really beautiful. And your idea with the legs is... awesome! Love it. 😍
This build was really creative! It looks amazing.
excellent piece chris. it is fun watching the development of this and to hear your thoughts. thanks for sharing
This thing is next level. Love the creativity!
Such an awesome design...WOW!
Beautiful work, as always. I love watching your videos, there is something calming about the way you do things...
this is honestly spectacular! good job chris
So so good!
I've been waiting to see the project. It looks great. Can't wait to see how the stress test comes out. As always keep up the great work.
one of the best videos i have seen during the last months. Abolutely great! It looks awesome!
I love beech! Many of our Danish classic design chairs are made of it. And basically all of our forests are beech.
Man this was beautiful to watch! Great job on the execution, Chris!
Absolutely love watching your work. Your down to earth narration, and humble approach totally lends itself to a truly enjoyable video.
I work in the TV industry and I can assure you that the technology used in the OLED is magic. Pure, unadulterated, wonder in a child's eyes magic!
I knew it!
Dude, you are the woodworking sneaker king 👑 4’s, 1’s, Spizike’s and AM90’s 🔥🔥🔥 and kudos for rocking them in the shop, makes me want to do the same with mine
Thanks man...there are a few that I don't really take in the shop... but for the most part it was fair game. The black 4s I didn't want to take in the shop, but I love them so much I bought 2 pairs :)
Chris Salomone lol I hear ya
You really are the nicest guy on the internet. Only just discovered your videos but love them already. Never stop doing what you are doing. You are great at it and clearly enjoy it!
WOW. This is a spectacular piece. That leg design is phenomenal. Whoosh.
Amazing project and execution! Congrats!
Awesome work Chris, beautiful piece! 😍👌🏻👍🏻👊🏻
Very nice bro.
The leg detail is excellent, but subtle touches like the black backboards with the rounded slot, and the frame and panel doors take it to the next level.
I'd like the epoxy leg detail to assymetrical rather than the same on both sides. Personal preference probably.
Really excellent
Absolutely beautiful Chris as always, I learn from you every time I watch. I’m getting ready to build a desk for my wife out of red ambrosia maple, my friend owns a saw mill so any wood I could want is very abundant, she wants very clean and feminine and your joinery and finishes always help inspire. I was in a store called Wood Craft last Monday and was in heaven with the machines and different tools like you use, hopefully one day I can acquire a few seeing as how expensive they are but understanding why. Keep inspiring and story telling with your projects, for it really does help us weekend woodworkers step up our games. Thank you Chris!!!
Thanks Jeff.really appreciate the kind words. Glad the videos are inspiring to people! That’s great to think that after they’ve watched people feel more excited about building something. 👍🏻
Great job. It is fun to watch your videos.
Really, really beautiful job Chris.
Whoa this was an incredible idea 😍 you did a great job with this concept and laying it out for us to follow
This looks great Chris. Your epoxy ideas are always very subtle, which I think a lot of other epoxy content lacks, and it always stays elegant without feeling like a gimmick.
Something that kind of struck me after watching this though: I have always been a big fan of wall mounted OLEDs since they are so thin. Have you considered making a wood based wall mount? I know they typically hide completely behind, but I feel like you would be able to bring some creativity to the idea.
I haven't. If I wanted to wall mount it, that's something I would definitely just buy. I'm sure the metal version would be a lot nicer than anything I could make out of wood.
Very cool! Love your videos, thanks for posting
Cool project! Very beautiful. Thanks.
I love this idea of the epoxy. It looks so cool.
Absolutely beautiful mate
Man you outdid yourself! Bravo amazing piece
Clearly you are one of the most inspiring makers out there you son of a Beech. Transparently amongst the best, your work really resinates with me.
this is such a cool concept!!! Lots of resin and woodworking videos on youtube but this is so unique and it looks really really good
i love the splintered wood and epoxy technique.
Badass build and best edit yet. I like the foreshadowing break down.
Was just thinking about an LG oled.. great piece. Thanks!
Brilliant build and quality, lots of inspiration to come off this video !
Thanks :)
Really awesome, thanks
Really like this one. Great idea to use the epoxy dowel.
This was just the most amazing piece of furniture I ever saw... my heart broke when you destroyed it... I don't think I will ever see anything that again that I would like / love more... Thank you for this video... 😁
Amazing design, great work!!
This is freaking amazing! 👏👏👏
LOVE IT !!!!!!
Nice work man. Really beautiful!
killer shoe game....like the Jordan 4. Old School....oh and the furniture is awesome also.
It's a really cool design. The design using epoxy is very good and the method of filling domino pin with epoxy is very good
U def nailed it! Very nice piece!
best yet. unreal. beautiful. all the words
Que serviço maravilhoso !!!
This looks so epic!! Looking forward to the break test
Me too...:)
Love this piece man!
that's perfect, man, style & quality
I love this project.
The leg design is very cool. I have never worked with epoxy but I may now after seeing this vid. And the epoxy dowel was so "WOW"
My first exposure to your work was the "tips for making boxes" video a long time ago. I'm really glad the algorithm brought you back around. I'm currently binge watching your channel and loving it. I do wonder if someone fell in love with this piece and rescued it from the strength test?
Glad you like it...no, I still did my stretch test. It was Way stronger than I was expecting. Definitely would be fine for a piece like this.
Cool and clean design
Next Level.
I was alway love your commentary!
Looks great Chris!
GRACIAS POR EL VÍDEO Y APORTE, EXCELENTE TRABAJO....
I'm in love with Chris's videos.
Thanks tha duke
Great job !!!!!
Stunning piece Chris.
Loved your explanations. Made it easy to follow and has given me the confidence to do something similar. Haven't got the app to check out smashing the legs
Lookin amazing! keep it up
Wow, I love the use of the background music. Amazing! I feel like I'm watching a movie
Great job! Love it!!
Wow, that is a super creative design for the legs and stretchers~!! They came out really cool looking. Never would've thought of that myself. I think I too will build a console for our new TV...that you've now inspired me to buy~! ;-)
Incredible build and fun edit!
My man with the NYC to Paris in perfect fashion!
and the viotechs! I wore those to work on Friday!
Nice! We are shoe brothers! NY to Paris are some of my fav shop shoes. I actually want them to naturally get beaten up to reveal the colors.
une réalisation esthétique, design et minutieuse. Superbe travail Chris. Thank You
Thanks :)
Very cool and creative
VERY clever with the splintered approach - you have quite an imagination and much enjoy seeing you bring it to life!
Thanks Mike :)
Dude I LOVE the piano music. And the rest of video of course 🙏🏼
Insanely awesome design!
looks amazing! would love to create something like that
Another great video and really cool build! I wasn't sure about the visible rabbet joint for the top piece, but honestly it looks super good. Will keep in mind
great and fine job!
That's darn epic.
Man, that came out so great 🔥
Great video, this is the first one I've seen from you and I really liked that you explained a few tricks you pulled and I got to see your thought process while making the part. Specially the part where you start making the grooves and you just flip the wood to make it centered, blew my mind not to have thought of that before.
Simplemente increíble
I see what you did there at the end, nice!
Genius design
There's a thousand ways to strengthen that resin joint, but the completely see-through effect is so impressive. I hope it holds up to your brute force :) Great video, thanks for sharing.
