- To mark the 60th anniversary of one of the most notable examples of the French New Wave, STUDIOCANAL is delighted to announce a brand-new 4K restoration of LE MÉPRIS. Fresh from its inclusion in the Cannes Classic selection at this year’s festival, this landmark in world cinema from cinema’s original enfant terrible; Jean-Luc Godard will be available to own on 4KUHD for the first time, on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital on 26 June.
Featuring the style icon Brigitte Bardot (And God Created Woman, Viva Maria!) as Camille, and legendary French talent Michel Piccoli (Belle De Jour, The Things of Live) as Paul, LE MÉPRIS boasts a strong and eclectic supporting cast featuring ‘master of darkness’ Director, Fritz Lang as himself, renowned American actor Jack Palance as Jeremy, and the infamous Giorgia Moll as Francesca. The restoration also features the original and unforgettable soundtrack, ‘Theme of Camille’, which has gained worldwide admiration in its own right, by multi award-winning composer, Georges Delerue.
Set around the extraordinary Villa Malaparte on Capri; LE MÉPRIS tells the tragic romance between Paul and his wife, Camille. Paul is enlisted the task of re-writing a film script. Whilst he becomes engrossed in writing, he appears oblivious to the film producer’s interest in his irresistibly beautiful wife, Camille. In turn, we witness the hurtful unfolding of Paul & Camille’s marriage.

Wishing you smiles through it all.
This film has one of the greatest scores of all time and they don't use it on the trailer.
And even worse they use this "I am masterpiece" epic s*%t
This movie has one of the best soundtracks❤
Watched this movie in 4K tonight ! A masterpiece !!!
It is, indeed.
Where did you watch it?
Very exciting news..looking so good. Don't understand why they didn't used the iconic Delerue soundtrack.
Magnifique chef-d'œuvre 🎬🎥
In my opinion, this is the BEST of Godard. THE BEST!!!
Finally we can see how it’s original Technicolor was supposed to look
Preordered. I love the cover art of this 4k edition.
Just pre-ordered the 4K blu-ray. Can't wait to watch it! 👌
I have been in France for 15 years now, and yep!!! This about sums it up! 😉♥️👍🇬🇧
the song in the trailer is Open For Love by Victor Galey, Matteo Locasciulli and Stefano Pallotti.
thank you!
Strange, why put different music to the trailer than the original Delerue soundtrack mentioned?
Exactly what I thought. The original score, besides being a bona fide classic, is so part of the film's legend that one wonders such decisions
I agree, original soundtrack whould have been better.
My god this movie was so painful
B. B. est tellement belle et mise en valeur dans ce film, et elle joue très bien.
Beautiful film.Outstanding in 4k.Great work Studio Canal.Any chance of releasing the cover art as a poster?Fantastic package.

@@jonaspluis9087 same 😭
also looking for it
"Lever De La Lune" by Dan Zeitune / Loren Noyman goes well over this film segment..
Villa Malaparte has the most amazing views!
Have they boosted the Sound. It sounds better than the previous Mono version.
Maybe for a good reason ‘cause the mono is atrocious
Does anyone know the music from this trailer please
why don't they see??!!
I'm curious about the music in this trailer.

Trailer song?
A Love Letter to Anna Karina
That’s ‘Vivre Sa Vie’ 1962
@@richardstevens8839 no, it's this film Le Mepris . Contempt can be seen as a form of self-criticism: a male artist analyzing the vanities and self-deceptions of the male ego. (And perhaps, too, an apology: what cinematographer Coutard meant when he called the film Godard’s “love letter to his wife,” Anna Karina.)
Studiocanal, please take a chill pill on the teal and orange colour grades you keep slapping on all your 4K releases. This doesn't look as egregious as Red Sonja and others, but clearly still present. White highlights should be white, not orange, and blue skies should be blue, not teal. 35mm film is so beloved because of its ability to capture colour so naturally, why continue to make them look like modern blockbusters shot digitally?
Thanks for a good laugh ... I know it must be very frustrating - I hope on various cinematic forums you don't get those jack-**sses doing all these "personal" / different "grades" to show off to their on line frenemies. And still failing in an EPIC'ly sad way...

Movie name pls
It's literally in the title of the video.
Original French title is "Le mépris", English is "Contempt".
Cannibal Holocaust.
Not sure why this is considered to be such a wonderful story. Guy marries hot chick; she thinks he has status and can provide because he is successful in theatre and is moving up to movies. Guy acts like a beta in front of a producer; girl monkey branches. That's it. Very ordinary stuff. Men fight, strive and struggle to earn the love of a woman, but women don't love men. They love what men can provide them. Thus we know that men's love is genuinely pure, noble and altruistic, while women's love is inherently selfish, narcissistic and solipsistic. There's nothing new under the sun in this movie. Sure, it's beautifully filmed, but that's it. Pretty pictures, impressive soundtrack, but plain and pedestrian story.
god only ALLAH !
