- After a couple of boat jobs, We set off on a mission around to the Eastern side of Great Barrier Island. We're treated with dreamy conditions for this voyage, clear water, heaps of fish, beautiful protected anchorage, and spectacular scenery!

Mate you will always be remembered as the best chef to ever grace the galley, and for napping in 25knts with 9knts boat speed and a rough sea state around the Colville channel during the maiden voyage from Auckland 😂

Great to see your enjoyment of such a wonderful environment. I particularly liked your morning departure - so beautiful at the time of day. I visited Rakitu in 1980 or 81 on the MV Whai en route to the Barrier. I think Mick had to drop something off to the people living on the island at the time. Such a magical place and the cove in particular. I'm glad to hear that the island is now in public ownership. Thanks for the video.

That's very kind, thankyou. Videography is something very new to me, I hope to get better in time. Not any time soon on my boat no. I would need to through a heap of money at it which I don't have to get to Cat 1. Plus Id need lot more experience with night sailing/ longer passages before taken on ocean crossing. For now I'll stick to the coast.

Would be great to know what time of the year this was as the weather is just superb and there doesn't seem to be too many other boats around
@mattdouglas5570 This was in March 2023. A great time of the year for cruising in New Zealand. Usually consistent weather and most people are back to work. Cheers
