    I've had IBS + Crohn's for more than 25 years .
I've spent that whole time listening to Gastroenterologists .
This guy in the UA-cam video is saying things I've never heard the other docs say , and they make sense .
He is a free thinker not bound by medical 'pursuation' I believe , refreshing .

God bless doctors like you. Your approach deserves respect. IBS is an umbrella term and should be treated as such. It seems so obvious to follow up with the possible conditions within the IBS circle yet so few doctors are willing to do that. Thank you very much for your work and effort.

After 30 years I finally caved and made another appointment with a gastroenterologist. Was told IBS forever, then suddenly this doc already has done tests showing the bile acid issue and elevated inflammation. Am now awaiting biopsy results. It's a new world out there.

I fall into this. As a baby i was told slow bowel, then all the way till I was 20 i was told numerous times it's IBS. For years I've been given every IBS tablet, sachet, capsule and tried all the diets. At 25 i have diarrhea or loose sulphuric acid, often yellow /green stools. I get very nausious often times daily, i have fatigue, restless sleep /can't sleep quickly and migraines. I eat fruit, veg and drink 3 litres of water daily not including the hot drinks. I've tried every other diet : fad or nom fad. Yet nothing worse. I struggle to lose weight despite my norm of going 3-10+ times a day. It's horrible. No matter what I eat or drink it just goes through: could be in 30 minutes or every 2 hours. Additionally, i get excruciating abdominal pain. I have to use the disabled bathrooms because there are so many nasty people in the world who likes to ridicule you when you really need to go. It smells, it's noisy and it's not controllable. I do take anti diarrhoea tablets if i really have to when I'm out but I have to buy them myself OC. If it works it might last 6 or 8 hours and come back or if I'm lucky 1-2 days before it comes back with a vengeance. I'm waiting for an appointment with gastrology as I've been to a plethora of GPs throughout my life and they don't have any other tests to try as I've done them all but my results always come back as normal. Talking about toilet issues is hard as its taboo for some reason as many believe that they either don't poop or it smells like roses and glitters too. Most of my family have the opposite issue so I'm the only one who has this one. Hugs. It's nice to watch a video where we're not just shoved under a rug because they have no answers. 🇬🇧. Xx

Taking the med Colestyramine seems to be a good indicator for having BAM. If the watery stool stops you have BAM. But it is just a band aid, it doesn't heal BAM. Wished there was an answer to that. I take Colestyramine after I diagnosed myself and doctors here didn't have a clue. Actually, what causes BAM? In my case I believe it happened after two ERCP's where a stent was inserted in the bile duct (1) and later removed (2). Of course GI doctor said that never happened. Yeah, on his watch maybe. Good luck everybody.

I am 46 years old white Scottish female diagnosed at 19 yrs old with IBS through hospital admissions. At 39 yrs old I was diagnosed with non alcoholic fatty liver disease. At 45 I had my gall bladder removed due to being full of stones and I now have bile acid diarrhoea (undiagnosed). My oldest son was born 23 years ago with Biliary Atresia and had a liver transplant at 4.5 years old. My Aunt had primary cancer of the liver and my mum has liver sclerosis and my two sisters have fatty liver disease also and one has celiac disease. I wonder how much of this is genetics?

I can’t find anywhere describing the side effects of bile binders. All I see are those that say it’s a game changer for IBD but there has to be some side effects I’m afraid to even try it. I’m sensitive to all medications since I’ve had my gall bladder out. I would think you should have 0 fat intake if all the bile is absorbed.

I only occasionally have watery stools and it's usually only after taking certain compounds like magnesium and vitamin C in excess, however, I did show elevated primary bile acids on the C4 stool test. I had also been taking a digestive supplement with ox bile. I did get pretty bad bouts of flatus though. Should I stop the digestive supplement and then repeat the C4 stool test before trialing a bile acid sequestrant? Also, can you still have BAM with infrequent bouts of loose stools?
