    Yet I've always thought that Russia under my rule was at the most glorious extent. This vid really taught me many things I don't find in books. One more thing, I didn't die in 1825. I simply faked my death and gave the throne to my younger brother, Nicholas, because Constantine do not want it.

      Aparently you were spotted in Siberia some time later going by the name Fedor Kyzmich and died in Tomsk in 1864, do tell me what were you doing for those 39 years? :)

      Justin Case in those years I watched the reign of my brother Nicholas I from afar, then live in a little place peacefully. However, it wasn't that sweet in those years for I had to bear those ill news regarding the death of my wife, Elizabeth, then my brother Constantine, and soon the ones I used to care for faded before me. The fun fact is, when I heard the new national anthem 'Bozhe Tsarya Khrani' in 1833, which means 'God save the Tsar', a strange and nostalgic feeling hit me. Am I still the Czar? What am I supposed to do or go? But still, I love the anthem and still remember the song even in the current life of mine. Thanks for asking.

      @@alexanderpavlovichromanov3065 Your majesty, I think that we might have a problem. I saw Napoleon wondering around comment section. Also, by his behavior, it seems that he is still interested in conquering Russia! What should we do, your highness?!

    • @alexanderpavlovichromanov3065
      @alexanderpavlovichromanov3065 5 років тому

      Alexander Skvortsov it is certain that it was my deepest fear in regards to what happened to my father. I was there the night they came into the palace, they even asked for my permission to "remove" my father from the throne. I did not dare to stop them. That night, Tsar Pavel lay dead in his room. The next day, I was crowned Tsar of all Russia, by the masses and the same group of people who removed the previous Tsar. That was when I realized how fragile my power was.
      Russia under my reign (1801-1825) was not exactly prosperous, as most of the time we were either fighting in the war or recovering from the damages of it. The aristocracy was still well off in general but I couldn't say the same for the common people and especially the serfs. I wanted to help them, the serfs especially, but that would anger the boyars, and I was too afraid to follow my fathers footsteps by angering the powerful nobles of the realm. Furthermore, after the Napoleonic wars I became more of a conservative myself. By the time I left the throne, not much changes was done to ease the wedge between the rich and poor.
      However, it must be noted that during and after the war, a sense of patriotism surged like never before, affecting every class and all peoples of Russia. I even commissioned the construction of Minin and Pozharsky Monument in Moscow, and you should definitely check out the story behind it.
      Very sorry for the late reply and taking your time to read, dear Sir, Alexander Skvortsov

      It is a myth that People's Will was a 'Jewish group', and it's usually circulated by anti-Semites looking for a scapegoat for Russia's problems. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narodnaya_Volya
      "Demographically ethnic Russians dominated the organization, with about 14% of the group's members sent to trial of ethnic Jewish origins.[33] "
      Jews were nevertheless prominent in Russian socialist and revolutionary groups, for the obvious reason that they were heavily discriminated against by the Tsarist government.

    • @EpichistoryTv
      @EpichistoryTv  7 років тому +1

      You are not well informed about Jewish history, but you do recycle some very old anti-Semitic myths, i.e. 'drinking human blood'. You should read more about this: www.britannica.com/topic/blood-libel
      I give a wikipedia link because it has a footnote and source. The quote from the book 'Road to Revolution' is:
      "Of the members of the People's Will who were given a court trial over fourteen per cent were Jews. They constituted fifteen per cent of all the politicals arrested in 1884-90 (579 out of 4,307 persons). "
      www.ditext.com/yarmolinsky/yarframe.html
      So one of those executed was from 'a Jewish background'. I presume all the others were not? This doesn't sound like 'a Jewish group' to me. It sounds like a Russian group with some Jews in it.

    Great video, as awlays! .Just a small nitpick - in 1877 russian and bulgarian forces sieged Pleven, not Plevna.

      Plevna, only Plevna (such is original spelling)

    • @EpichistoryTv

      Thank you! The city is today called Pleven. But I think Plevna is an old spelling (or perhaps an English spelling) which I went with.. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Plevna

      @MultiReckoner 8 років тому +1

      Pleven has had diffirent names in it's history.I don't remember it beign called Plevna, maybe you're right and it's just the English spelling. I'll have to find my old History textbook. Nevertheless, cheers from Bulgaria and keep up the great work!

    Nice. I hope to see Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth, Germanic duchy's and more focus on diplomatic affairs than history itself in the future. Also that this channel gets atleast 500k subs, imo it has the potential.

    It is such a pain to walk through Russia's history. So many missed opportunities, so much suffering. Is it our destiny, to be martyrs? But what's the fucking point??

    • @megaponful
      @megaponful 8 років тому +15

      Mikhail Evtushenko the failure to capture Constantinople, the selling of Alaska, WW2 and other catastrophies is the most painful thing i see in Russian history. I am very interested in Russia and would like to study more about it. This video portrays Russia well. But there is still muc more about Russia to explore. Thank you Russia for contributing to human civilization,culture and history. Your martyrs will not be forgotten. it would be a crime to do so.

      There is Russian Fort of St. Elisabeth on Kauai isand - now museum...

    Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.
    Growing up in America you aren’t taught history the correct way in school, maybe it’s the teachers, maybe it’s the environment, but all I have is to blame is myself.
    I hope others see this video and get more insight into the history and can learn from it to progress forward.

    Russian "serfs" were not slaves. They were protected by the law, they had families, homes, lands, property etc. They were just connected to the land and land was a property of nobility, that's why serfs were sold with their lands together. At least with the land they had a way to feed themselves. Many of them were not happy with reforms because they have lost lands or had to pay for it.

    • @Lina-lq7jm
      @Lina-lq7jm 2 роки тому +2

      And when Polish/Lithuanian/Latvian and all the other people who were free before that were made serfs I'm sure they were very happy to be able to feed themselves. Oh no... wait! a lot of them starved to death.
      And uprisings were probably because they were sooo happy about this too.
      Yeah... I don't think so.

    • @indycoon
      @indycoon 2 роки тому

      @@Lina-lq7jm as far as I know their social status didn't change. If they were nobility, they just joined Russian nobility. If they were serfs, they stayed. Ukrainians and Belarussians were Polish serfs. Baltic people had a very low position with their previous owners.
