  • Exposed headland littoral rainforest (EHLRf) stands comprise nearly 23 % of the 635 hectares of littoral rainforest mapped in the Midcoast Local Government region in NSW, Australia.
Key threats currently affecting EHLRf include clearing of native vegetation, weed invasion, and the effects of fragmentation .
This project endeavours to tackle these threats , to minimise the disturbance to, or loss of EHLRf.
The main weed threat to EHLRF in this vicinity is Asparagus fern, where dense monocultures develop in the understorey allowing no natural regeneration, increase weed seed biomass and reducing in-situ resilience.
The program is targeting 3 main sites at Burgess Beach Forster, Cape Hawk and Seal Rocks. Burgess Beach is Council land, whilst the remaining being National Parks and Wildlife Service estate.
Project scope is predominately rope access work over the 3 sites, with some windbreak/ view obstruction fencing to be installed at Burgess Beach.
    Project Partners:
    • National Parks & Wildlife Service
    • Environmental Trust
    • Bushland & Rainforest Restoration & Consulting
