Thomas puts Edith's doctor friend on a horse and sends him back to civilisation. The house falls apart while the pair run far, far away, under new names and a new start for themselves. A child is born - twins, a boy and a girl, perfect blends of their parents. The name Lucille is immediately rejected for the daughter- not just because of what happened in the past, but because Thomas feels it is cruel to trap his dear sister in another lifetime on Earth.
HAHHH. It ain't always everything. I had a man like that. Was great until I finally had to peace out after I found out he murdered his last girlfriend.
Truth be told that would make this story a tragedy for Lucille. The fact she and Thomas were always there for each other and suddenly he leaves her for someone he has truly fallen in love with. It's tragic and sad. She's now all alone, if she were to die and Thomas live. It would be unfair and frankly injustice because of all the stuff Thomas has done as well. In a way their deaths are almost the end to a trauma, an era of pain and suffering, for everyone involved. They were destined to die together, and yet they dont. Thomas chooses to leave the castle while Lucille decides to stay(shown by their ghost colors. White and black)
Lucille channels the evil spirit that's taken over the house. She becomes married to it. Whereas thomas was her pawn. Everyone who loves thomas is killed by her.
I loved this movie because it doesn’t have a happy ending but yet a beautiful one with a beautiful love story (without the incest tho) TE AMO GUILLERMO, genio
God the thing about this movie and so many other amazing films is it breaks the borders and boundaries of everyday moral rights and wrongs. Not to say that Thomas and Lucille should have been intimate in that way, but it complicates it more than just incest. Thomas and Lucille's relationship is based on codependency and fear of what would happen to both of them if they were caught of their crimes. They're trapped in a building of their trauma and past and they are the only ones who truly will ever understand that in each other. Of course they would have no one else to be intimate with. No one else can share that connection and dependency like they do. It's toxic and twisted but that makes the story telling even more incredible. The fact that it isnt black and white, there's layers, and depth, and almost compassion and empathy for these broken characters. In reality every bad thing done should be looked at with context and circumstance.

I always wondered what made Edith so different from Thomas' previous wives, but then it hit me, what if Edith was the only one who actually showed Thomas kindness, wonder, and love? Think about it, he was so curious about her to the point that he actually felt real love. He said it himself that Edith was different from everyone with also includes his sister. Maybe Thomas' previous wives married him because of his looks or maybe his motivation to continue his parents' work but what do you think? ^^ I would love to hear what you think.
Most just saw his charm, his money- or they were just as lonely as he. Edith was young, full of life and love ( even though her mother died and her father followed after)- and she was the only one who saw a lonely, sad , yearning soul beneath the charm. While she was a butterfly drawn to a moth, said moth burned his own wings so that she could fly free.
I think Edith is different because she's totally different from the other wives they lured. She's intellegent, well spoken and quite a fire for she never backs down. She also supports him and his machinery. He fell deeply in love with her because of how he never met a person like her before and she always supports him :)

Its just a movie but it is the life we long for and can never have. Why was the mold broken for the lucky few, why was the mold broken at all? Why is my heart untouched,? Why cant I ever be loved? God does not see me, Tom will never know me and I will never be but I am glad to see this world of make believe come alive with the passions that we feel so strong for, knowing that it was always the end. That there is always an end for this kind of hope, that the real chance for a beginning, is the blind leading the blind to lose, live and fade away from life.

I disagree. It shows that love is the most powerful and forgiving force there is. It is not just all black and white. Thomas was a broken individual with a murderous past,but didnt prevent him for changing in the end. I wish he realised his feelings for Edith going stronger sooner.
I think both couples are perfect and in both cases, the male dies but they do it for love, Rose and Jack were more fun and free and Edith and Thomas were romantic and they believed in one another.

I think both couples are perfect and in both cases, the male dies but they do it for love, Rose and Jack were more fun and free and Edith and Thomas were romantic and they believed in one another.
