I think Jamie probably has the best overall kit in it being second hand but a higher initial new price - but for passing on to a junior Andy's is a really nice setup, it matches and they both should see a couple of deserving anglers proud.

Never tried pole fishing and would love to get into it as I recently started fishing
Well done VULCAN for sponsoring this challenge. Both did really well but would probably say Jamie's gear was probably the better set up. I'm always looking for bargin gear for my fishing. So far 2nd hand I have picked up a set of 2 rollers, 2 side trays, seat box, float rod that just needed a ring replacing.
Great to see it's all going to 2 young people to get into this wonderful past time :)
Great video, would love to see you guys fish a challenge with these setups, and then have the winners come on and fish a challenge with them too.

Budget gear was my thing back in't day, picked up a lovely light float rod for £30 new, and a smooth reel to go with it for the same. Long poles were daft money then though, even second hand, so I just had a 6m shakey mustang put-in, that had some great days at 4m to-hand at a local spot, which is now carp/cat syndicate and actively nets out anything else.
I've two JW avon-quivers languishing in the garage, an earlier one that I don't know where the quiver section went, and a later multi-tip, extendable one that I don't think I've used more than once.
After watching this video I think both guys did really well to get the set-ups they both got, you 2 always work so well together and the humour between you is great! I know I spent way more than that few years ago on a set-up, then lost it all when my garage got broken into and the insurance company wouldn't pay out! So no fishing for me for a while again now till I get funds together to start over! Can't wait to now move on from this video and watch the match between the 2 of you!

Well done to Vulcan, nice touch and only these 3 could pull this off. I got my lad a John Wilson 2 in 1 about 12 years ago, its still his pride and joy now (brilliant rod ).
I took up fishing again in August after a short (almost 30 year) break and the star piece of my modest collection from way back then was my John Wilson Avon Quiver. Being 2-piece 11ft it’s a few inches too long for my rod holdall, so I have to be extra careful loading my gear into the car, but I couldn’t give it up. He was a great guy and to own a piece of that history is priceless.
Still got my John Wislon Avon quiver too. Decades of use and still a brilliant rod!!
Gutted got all excited for a cracking bit of entertainment and a giggle watching the match and you done us and lift us hanging off the edge of our seats like an like we were watching EastEnders back in the day. Brilliant bits of kit for the money though lads, can't wait for the next installment
Think Jamie's kit is better, the box certainly and really good shout to look at 2nd hand poles.

Jamie's kit is much better, you can tell he's remembered the fact that he's got to use it and win the challenge. Buying second hand decent stuff is definitely the way to go 👍.
I turn 17 soon and would be an awesome to start pole/match fishing as I’ve never done it before and and have just started fishing with my grandad also I think Jamie got the best kit

Don’t want to vote as I love both you guys and these videos are the best! I can’t believe you got an entire kit for £500! But second hand can be a good bet especially as some boxes now cost more than the budget! Ended up getting a margin pole for 160 ish and compared to the one I had in the past it’s amazing but I can see why you’d need a bit more than 10 metres. Well done Vulcan for putting up the budget and the heated clothing, so could have done with that last winter!!
Love this ultimately it’s not about the kit it’s about the angler Andy & Jamie could beat 99% of the match anglers out there with this kit😊👍

both done a great job showing what is achievable but for me I think Jamie has pipped it as you can find great 2nd hand gear if you spend the time to look around, looking forward to the next vid guys.
I think both have done a cracking job but each has points of credit such as Andy's matching but overall I would say Jamie takes the prize for best. I know one thing for fact, any young un who wins one of these will be made up. big thank you to you guys as a fishing dad it's nice that your thinking of others and helping those who struggle to get good quality gear for their kids.

Both have done well. Got to say I would prefers Jamie’s at the moment but could change once we see it being used

jamie overall only due to the seat box having the extra trays under it. but both are realy good setups and any angler would be happy to recieve any set to help them on there way
Great video guys, hope this video can make new match anglers fee more comfortable fishing an open or club match if they haven’t got mutch gear or the best gear. Anyone can win a match, even with a stick and line. Always remember that the fish are only bothered about what’s in the water and not out of the water.
Defo do prefer Jamie's box and pole but ye both done well on that 1 fellas so I'd have to sat jamie on that 1
Jamie just has it with the better kit, the seat box and bigger tray looks a better setup, good choice on the budget given 👌

Guys I feel you have done the world of fishing a huge service by pursuing 2nd hand kit. It will be great boost to those on a tight budget or youngster starting out that theres nothing wrong with starting with pre-owned or a few seasons old kit.
Certainly nothing wrong with it, to be honest we thought it would be a lot harder than it was to do it within the budget and as you’ll see in the match, it was more than upto the job 😍
If I had to choose a set-up I'd go with Jamie's. If I were a youngster again I'd be made up with either set-up! Kudos for doing this and donating it all after 👍
Some cracking kit there for the budget you had 👍🏻just came back from fishing today playing a fish on my new pole, brand new top kit and some geese got in the way 😂ended up snapping the top kit 😭😂

Both great value for money, but as a complete set up, think I would swing more to Jaime's set up, tight lines

Thinking about starting fishing again after looking after a disabled child, and two in-laws with dementia for so many years, but even those kits are way out of my price range, lol.
You can find gear to suit pretty much any budget, this was geared around entering matches so was still a fair amount of kit.
Just to go pleasure fishing you can get a rod and reel, or basic whip for less than £30, a few bits of terminal tackle and you are good to go. Just pop into your local shop and they'll normally have some sort of deals on to suit the sort of venues you have locally :)

I think you should do a competition to pick 2 youngsters and give them the gear. Then you both coach each youngster in a match to see who wins 😉. Winning young un gets a point in the competition between the two of for your challenges

i think jamie has the better kit for value. but andy did get a cracking deal for his tackle
They both done really well but for me Jamie has better value for the money. It just shows you don't always have to get new second hand stuff just as good, and shows people that want to get in to the sport that they don't have to spend a lot of money
