wow i love what youve done with Apep! his recruitment always made me think that we wasnt really the fighting type and this more support focused role, with offensive attacks only being available when hes not in the limelight, really fits the character imo! but why is Geen sp now?
Well, in my opinion an SP character is someone who has "precise" skills, a more varied, somewhat universal skillset that he should have access to by default. While TP characters have more "wild card" skills, when they can be more fixated in certain direction and little bit less balanced/precise skills, so they feel more random as gaining TP is not as reliable. It's also about the playstyle loop - SP characters have a skill that recovers 50-100% SP as a restart point of their loop, while TP characters are limited in that regard - and Geen's Stretch recovered a lot of TP, which felt more inappropriate for SP than TP - this also pushed me towards making him SP.
makes sense though its still a bit jarring. also the pissed status being swapped around with rage is confusing and i think itd be better if it was swapped back
@@Captain_Crabmeat I know, it's confusing, but I can't get around the logic of the words: "pissed" is slight stage of rage, it's just doesn't make sense how Rage means character is just hits harder, while Pissed means he can't control himself completely. I want to stick around with this naming.
@@T1Slam i always took it as rage being angry but still able to control yourself, like getting angry and hyping yourself up. while pissed means youre PISSED to the point where you see red in a sense.
What would trigger this fight? Is it like alternative storyline where you leave downtown with Apep then return shortly after and end up seeing them? Also random idea that will prob not work but i think you should try like, rotating the sprite a tiny bit for animations like Kurtis bashing people with a tv. It might make them look a bit more... animated or smth idk. Probably wrong tho and it will still need some extra sprites to actually make it look animated. This mod definitely looks worth my time, especially if you fixed the awful performance issues Modpack has.
This is before Downtown, an area that used to be populated by scorpions. Regarding the animations I just took what was in UMP, I'm far from expert in that regard, so I try to stay away from animation work 😅
As you can see I did come close to losing this fight and had to rely on fancy perfume - this is because it's the 3th time I was fighting him for the recording (couple of times stopped the fight to chance some things and once the game crashed) and got quite sloppy. I think it makes sense for Alex to be mad at Slim for causing a joy mutant massacre and putting Alex and Joel's lives at direct danger. Or do you mean something else? I'll see if I can make phrases to be more authentic to Alex (less expressive, etc)
@@T1Slamin original game Chaz was just some random encounter which didn't have any elaboration on, in that context the dialogue is a bit weird because there is a 50/50 chance Alex doesn't know what joy is and just thinks "drug not given by doctor - bad". I think just adding a conversation post-fight or after sleeping would make it more believable unless you already did that. Also i think it would be funny to have someone point out Alex's excessive heroism considering his age.
@@dumbvillage9253 well you do encounter joy in GI - in wasteville and by killing Killjoy (lol). At this point Alex knows that Slim is the one peddling the drugs and the mutated dude is a junkie. I did tone Alex's dialogue down, though.
I like where this is going but I think: 1: there's too much information and some dialogue is too much on the nose. Maybe give less info so players experiment with status effects and imply instead of saying things (not really seen here but in Roland's encounter)
2: Alex is too "active", in vanilla and SOTWS Alex doesn't interfere in a lot of events, he isn't very confrontational or that aggressive. (Dinner scene and playground)
Hi! I don't do sprite work, I just take what is already there, that's why Slim looks janky. I understand that brevity can make experimentation very fun, but general players suffer from less information. If I don't put what the skill does in description most players will just not use it. There are still things about skills that didn't make it into description (mostly about Joel's skills) I have to sacrifice one aspect for another. Yeah, I know that original Alex is more passive, but I have make fights happen, and there are already a lot of npcs that just attack you. If I don't dilute it with Alex being active once in a while it will also look weird. I think it makes sense that Alex would have problem with Slim causing a joy mutant massacre that also put Alex and Joel's lives in danger.
Will say, though half a year late: I personally feel like the fight should trigger if the island joyboys *weren't* saved, with slim having other minions. And, sure, might be hunky-dory to say, but wouldn't Irons and Rusher being alive be able to talk down slim/avoid reckless dealings? Maybe to balance this and really weigh what you want, you could make it harder to spare the two, just so it's more believable why they'd be chill with Alex 'n Co. Who knows, maybe this is pulling a Lisa via a case of screwing over people who're kind.
Yes, Severe Bleed takes 25% hp. It can only be applied after Cut -> Bleed, just like Lethal Poison after Poison -> Deep Poison and Blazing after Burning -> Scorching. I know that some skills for some characters right now may make applying it too easy. The bleeding-related skills are a subject to change.
I feel like Slim's Mutant sprite needs to be a bit Pointless art style a bit.
But it's still alright.
Great video!
