Very frustrating to see follow cyclists run the reds. It doesn’t tend to give them a lasting advantage as often catch them at the next big junction anyway. Ultimately pointless!
Hello to Argentina. I’ve never ridden a fixed gear. I don’t think I’d fancy it in the busy city commute but I’ve never tried so can’t comment. I like the ability to coast on the bike, I think I’d miss that with a fixed gear. 🙂👍🏻
@@ryansedgwick-londoncycling9007 personally I've been riding and doing some messenging in buenos aires on a fixed gear and honestly? Yeah I kinda miss being able to coast sometimes lol also in the rain with slicks it's unrideable
What stops you from doing an RLJ safely at Putney Bridge given that there is a bike lane just round the corner most vehicles do avoid unless the vehicles are large like buses for instance? I know you hate RLJs, but do you consider the effect of a whole load of cyclists piling up at that intersection if they all obeyed the law, and having to file into that bike lane after the light turns green.
My general view is that, as a cyclist I want other road users to follow the rules for my safety, so I need to uphold my end of the bargain and follow the rules also. That junction has lots of joggers plus children crossing who can pop out of nowhere quickly so it’s just not a good idea to run the reds. Plus it leads to other road users feeling very negatively towards cyclists. I wish the council would improve that junction. So many buses or cars etc. go straight up the cycle lane, as two lanes from Putney Highstreet merge to one on the bridge and drivers are forever battling up the cycle lane rather than filter. I think there should be a small island or some bollards to prevent drivers from entering that cycle lane, would help us get into it safely when that light turns green. 👍🏻
You commute for nearly 40mins every day?! Damn, I thought my 20 min weekly ULEZ avoidance run was long! 😂 On the subject of pollution, what pollutants does your mask prevent? Is it just particulates?
Three days a week currently, used to be five pre-pandemic. I don’t know exactly what my mask filters, I’m using a Respro city mask these days. My funky gas mask in the picture isn’t made any more and mine perished a few years back. The cost is relatively low so I figure anything it does filter is worth it, plus it keeps my face warm in Winter! 🤣
Do those ‘cycling lanes’ where they’ve just slapped a bike symbol on an unprotected narrow lane right next to vehicle traffic actually benefit cyclists in any way?
A little, as a lot of drivers do give space to those. You can’t take it for granted though as some drivers pull into the cycle lane without looking, pedestrians often step into these lanes before they look. So I’d rather have them than not, and some are better than others, but you can’t assume they are safe.
At 25:00 for a bit, riding in the car lane, bike lane clearly marked on your left for quite some time. If a car was in the buke lane for that long, you would have lost your shit !! Your all hypocritical its unreal how this is global !!
Haha and you freak out when a car crosses the bike lane, but it's totally fine when you move out of your BIKE lane into the car lane, seriously, you have issues mate. You are in total entitlement. You need a helicopter to get to work, no traffic then poor baby.
9:40 extremely satisfying wipe of the camera lens!
This males me love WFH even more :)
Ha ha yeah, the motivation to get up and cycle to the office in that weather is not great! 😉
