    I love how she’s correcting with such detail and seems to care about everyone. Not just the class stars. I never see that! Why don’t ballet teachers TEACH ? That’s what class is FOR !

    This is similar to my pointe class. My teacher does roughly the same steps. Our centre is done differently though. We spend a lot of time at barre and if we want more centre work we go to a different class. I like this video. A great follow along.

    Hey so I have a question, I have been doing ballet for around 6 years, I am now 18 and in college so I don't go to a studio anymore. The dance program I want to get in at my college requires the dancers to be on pointe. I practice everyday, and have pretty strong ankles. A little background is I was at a very competitive dance company and was in the advanced ballet class. They had a rule that you had to study ballet for five years, be at least twelve, and be in the advanced ballet class. Since I didn't dance five years of ballet until my senior year in high school they didn't think about putting me on pointe. I really would like to get on pointe soon and am just wondering if it would be a good idea to go and buy pointe shoes?

    • @interactiveacademyofperfor7696
      @interactiveacademyofperfor7696  7 років тому +3

      The answer by Laurel is; it sounds like you would be strong enough to go on Pointe. The best way to know for sure is to have a teacher look at you and do an assessment. If that is possible that is what I would recommend. However, from what it sounds like I think point shoes would be fine for you.

      Go to a fitting store, ask the lady what she thinks. Talk to the instructor at your college about maybe private classes en pointe for you to build up the skills and also attend the regular classes

    sorry but I have one correction, some of the dancers are clanking on their pointe and flexing their feet before turns and I'm starting to worry that they might get an injury, however they did great at trying and not giving up most of the time some of this stuff can be too advanced for some girls...

    hmm this is a nice introspective, seen world ballet day, but its broken up and has interviews as well as more focused on rehersing as opposed to general instruction and how it goes.
    but the girls do have nice form in their feet they look like they have done this for a spell of time

    Why is the teacher going en pointe in sneakers?

    • @summer-zc1vg
      @summer-zc1vg 8 років тому +30

      Katarina they're dance sneakers, they offer the teacher (who often teaches multiple classes) more support than a traditional pointe shoe:)

    • @kaca2903
      @kaca2903 8 років тому +13

      Yeah, I've noticed many ballet teachers did the same in similar looking (black, similar parted sole) sneakers. :)

    • @nathanielcraig3588
      @nathanielcraig3588 6 років тому +5

      Katarina She probably isn't going on to full pointe, just a really high demi pointe, and she's supporting all her weight on the barre when she does so... lol

    • @shippermd
      @shippermd 6 років тому +1

      Nathaniel Puttonen so they make pointe sneakers?!

    • @cbudzyn
      @cbudzyn 5 років тому +1

      Shipper No, they make demi pointe shoes (that don’t offer full support-you cannot go onto the full pointe or have your entire body weight supported). Dance sneakers are completely different they have a slight rise on heel of the shoe, ballet slippers and pointes are completely flat. Some sneakers have a flattened front edge that allow dancers to do moves like roll over their toes and yes you can balance but you can’t full out dance like a pointe shoe.

    are the students not meant to remember and execute the steps themselves?
    why the screaming above the loud music ? the tempo should be the cue to the exercise,
    the teacher may use the time to indicate a correction , a useful skill for a dancer to correct during the exercise , in some schools, very student is expected to be silent , still and attentive for every explanation from the teacher to the whole class,
    no late comers !!!!!!

  • @eveliendegros1137
    @eveliendegros1137 8 років тому +16

    Very nice exercises, girls with quite good technique, but why the screaming?? Takes all the fun out... :-/ Motivate them instead of yell at them... they'll be even better! You can tell from the rare compliments she gives, the girls immediately start to smile and work harder...
    Keep up the good work, it's paying off! :)

      It may seem like screaming, but she is making sure her students can hear her over the music. I know I am loud when I teach. It hypes me up and hypes up the girls, especially when they are getting tired and need that push to finish.

      east c If you think dance shouldn't be fun you shouldn't dance, it obviously isn't for you if you don't enjoy it. Just because ballet is demanding and painful doesn't mean it can't or shouldn't be fun, it is (and should be) a hell of a lot of fun if you have the passion and dedication for it you brought up yourself.

      Are you talking about the teacher?
      Teachers should look like teachers, not students. When you look into the classroom you should be able to tell who is teaching class and who it taking class.
      Not that a teacher cannot wear a bun. It is just not considered "how a teacher HAS TO look".
