Thanks for the overview of the new Surly’s. I’m looking forward to your Midnight Special build. I’m riding a metallic lilac 650b and absolutely love it. It’s that “All Road” bike I’ve always wanted. Pavement, trails, gravel, dirt and everything in between. Silver components will look crisp and clean.
That dropbar Preamble still come with a non-narrow/wide chainring? That bike needs a n/w ring. Looks like they fixed the spec on the new flat bar version. It could also use another derailleur cable guide on the chainstay.
Hmmm. Good to know bec I’m sorting out a build for the spring and like the MS frame but i don’t know all these little geometry issues that i might not figure out till i get on the finished bike. Going to work with local shop hopefully they’d know. Thank you!
I just test rode the 54cm production bike to check for toe overlap. I can report it has NO toe overlap issues. I have average size feet and even rode it with my tennis shoes. I suppose it might be a problem on a smaller frame, but I don't see an issue on the 54 or larger frame.
next year's upcoming video..."I've ran out of room for all my Surly's in my collection." Why when I see new Surly models do I react thinking "Take my money." ?
As cool as all these are, I wish I would've bought a Pacer back when they were selling them. I'm guessing the Midnight Special was kind of a successor, but it seems more all road whereas the Pacer seemed like it was meant to be a road bike. I love my Straggler though!
Looking forward to the custom build video series. Would you consider putting a sexy racing wheelset on for fun? Radial laced or just fewer spokes for that custom look?
So is Surly going to fill the gap left by All-City being shut down as the QBP steel brand? I suppose many of the bikes were similar (cross check and the space horse etc)
You know, that is a very good question. I’m a Microshift fan. I also have been impressed by Cues. Both are very good. Which is better? Not sure. I need to dig into that question a bit. Thanks for watching.
Great video and nice lineup from Surly, BUT, why would someone buy a RIGID mountain bike? Seems like the only suitable trails for a rigid would be very tame bike/pedestrian paths or trails. I have a 2001 Schwinn Frontier rigid mountain bike and frankly I'm surprised I'm still in one piece! Nice to see your channel growing, BTW. 👍
Check out Jones Bikes, watch some of their videos, and see what you can do with a full rigid bike. I ride my Jones LWB on rough, technical singletrack all the time.
I just finished a custom frame up Preamble in blue with silver componentry. It is stunning.
Ohhh. I would love to do a Preamble build. I've seen a few nice ones.
It looks like stickers are under a clear coat! Also an improvement.
Omg I love the midnight special! I get stuck looking at this frame.. I own a straggler so I don’t need one”yet”
Missing both my Surlys while I’m overseas. Can’t wait to get home.
Great video. I love how heavily your shop is into Surly. I certainly love my Bridge Club.
Thanks! Yeah, we try to sell what we love.
@@ottawabikeandtrail That's why it would be a fun shop to work at.Last bike shop I worked at, we had a decent amount of Surly bikes. Salsa as well.
I need more Surlys! Love my Bridge Club.
I also see on the rigid Krampus the seat stays are attached to the top tube. Usually this gives a little bit more of a compliant ride. Awesome bikes!!

Thanks! I’m excited to have a Midnight Special of my own.
Yes! A new project bike. Can't wait to see it. I am interested in an all silver parts build also.
Glad you are interested in the project. I can’t wait to get started.
I’ve been wanting to do my own build and have been looking very closely at the MS! Subscribed!
I'm so excited to see what you do with your MS build. I just built mine 2 months ago. I added purple wolftooth bling kit for some colour
Steel bikes are so beautiful
I agree!
Love the overall design for the Bridge Club but it would be nice to have a through axle option.
Maybe someday, if they can do it and not raise the price.
I miss my ECR, I should never have sold it! I think The Bridgeclub is my next bike!
I loved the ECR as well. Bridgeclub is a really fun bike.
Never sell your ECR, folks. Just saying. Sell your car first. Or your child.

Frame only seems the way to go.
RE: The Bridge Club Project... I'm hearing the Burl Ives Snowman in Rudolph singing "Silver and Gold". ☃
My favorite Christmas Carol!
A Midnight Special has a front center of around 600mm or less. That's a recipe for some serious toe overlap if you build it up with 700c wheels.

Lucky man

I've got a Pacer as well. It will be fun to compare the two bikes.

No. Lol.
@ Ok. Geez.
Difference between Preamble and straggler frame? I know the fork is different :)

Curious how my BC that I ordered a few months ago and built and rode in October was black. Did we somehow get the new colour first in NZ?
Did it have the kickstand mounts? Surly did have a black Bridge Club with the old frame design.
@ oh that’s a good question 🤔 it’s been about two months since I seen my bike and I can’t remember if it has kickstand mounts or not.
Would rather have the acolyte or advent vs cues w/0 clutch.

"Surly, you must be kidding." - Response = "I'm not kidding, and don't call my Surly."
I wish that the Bridge Club would get rid of the QR's for thru axles.
I agree.
Add a set of DT Swiss RWS skewers.

It's a durable bike being a bike without a lot of trendy stuff. It's not for everyone.........
My Krampus is easily as much fun as my Santa Cruz Blur Trail on single track. It takes me back to 6 speed Stumpjumper days in '85.
When will Surly finally build frames with longer steering tubes? These amounts of spacers under the stem are annoying...
Agreed, but I still love my Krampus.
We don't cut the fork until the customer picks up the bike. So, the number of spacers in the video is not typical.
