I'm saddened to know Tony Dow has passed away. I grew up with him. I admired him. I never had any siblings. I would pretend he was my older brother that I never had. I can still remember looking for frogs too, in our local pond we called Miller's Pond in 1961. Thanks for helping make my childhood an enjoyable, and memorable experience. Rest in Peace brother.

RIP Tony. I just found out today. Been a huge fan of leave it to beaver for a long time, great family show back in the late 50"s right into the early 60's. Well...so long Tony and thank you for being a part of that legendary tv show. Farewell.

Heartfelt condolences to his wife, son and all family members and friends. Watched Leave it to Beaver as a kid, and still watch reruns to this day. Fly high, Tony and as another poster said, you were a big brother to us all. A very sad day..
My wife and I watch almost every morning the reruns. The parents are the best.

The last vestiges of the good old days are being swept away. I was Beaver's age at the time of the show, and it felt like a reflection of my life. Back in a time when the pace was slower, and people just chatted with each other without hurrying all the time. At the corner mom and pop store they had 5-cent bottled cokes in the machine they had outside the store. My generation and childhood idols are going away. RIP.

I continued to follow both actors throughout the years and Tony was the real deal.

I join the legions of Baby Boomers and beyond for whom the name Tony Dow aka Wally Cleaver brings the fondest of memories and the warmest of feelings. I truly hope that as you crossed over to eternal rest you knew that you left an enduring mark of sweetness and light on the world. Rest in peace Tony.

He learned he had gotten of the role of Wally.

He was always the kindest most generous gentle loving sincere and humble man, All the tributes.
This is my honor and privilege to be able to share memories together.
As a child, I've watched Leave It to Beaver reruns and became familiar with Tony Dow. He was such a tremendous part of the history of television that his legacy will endure for years to come. I will be one of many to miss his presence on Earth. May you RIP Wally Cleaver.

You lived a long life
This used to be my favorite show growing up as a kid. I actually wasn't alive yet when the show was originally on TV but I used to watch the reruns and watched every episode several times back in the seventies and eighties. Definitely marks the end of an era as it's almost as if part of my childhood that has died. You know you're getting old When the children of the shows you used to watch are starting to pass away like Tony Dow and two years ago Ken Osmond who played Eddie Haskell. ☹️☹️☹️
If there's an afterlife with internet connection Tony Dow knows he was the classic big brother figure for millions of us who were kids back in the 1960s and 1970s or every kid who watched Leave It To Beaver on endless reruns. RIP Tony, you'll be remembered for decades and generations to come.

I grew up washing the show he made me laugh and still makes me laugh every time I watch it I’m 62 years old thank you for all the great time.

Whenever I watched Leave It to Beaver reruns back in the 80’s, it made me feel relaxed and I felt like I left the stresses of life behind for a half hour. So sorry to hear about Wally(Tony)

@ashley1994 It was a happier time because people had manners and not sense of entitlement. These so called necessary electronic devices don’t make anyone happier but exactly the opposite. Living without cell phones and internet meant we spoke to one another and learned to get along with each other and share social skills lacking today.
Heartbreaking! Tony Dow was a great actor! I grew up watching Leave it Beaver in Syndication. All watched the All New Leaver to Beaver in the 80's! Tony's wife and the rest of his family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers! See you later Tony! We miss you!
I can still hear my dad saying to my brother and me: "Too bad you boys can't be more like Wally and Beaver!" But, we (and my sisters) never missed an episode. I "tried" to style my hair like Wally's, but just could never get it just right! Our local MeTV station here in the Tampa-area (WFLA) shows two episodes of "Leave It To Beaver" every weekday morning from 8 - 9 am. Hardly ever miss a show, although I have seen most of them many, many times! Thanks for a great show and many great memories, Tony! Fair winds and following seas!
😔🙏💛 another reminder that we all have expiration dates for the most part we don't know when it's time for us to go so live life everyday in Harmony and live it full and amazing. So sad to hear. July 27th is not a good day for me as this day 15 years ago I lost my dad to cancer. So a bad day is now worse. Now the beaver is the last surviving actor in the family.

Loved his answers with his parents how they would roll their eyes or the father would put his head gown and kind of chuckle.
Tony Dow gave a good acting performance on that show; he made his Wally character believable. Compare his fine work to the phony, garbage acting that you get from the young performers on crappy shows such as "Growing Pains" or "The Goldbergs".
