the reason deathinitive and warmastered exist is because THQ was going bankrupt at the time and the games only existed on 7th gen consoles (360 and PS3) so Nordic bought the rights to the games and ported/polished them up for the 8th gen.
Coming from someone who played on ps3 for 3 different Plats, then 2 more Plat playthrough on Deathinitive Edition, the graphics are vastly improved. You can't tell in comparison photos or quick comparison videos, but playing one that much and going to the upgraded version it is extremely apparent on the visual upgrade. I love this game and the first one. I love the 3rd for what it's worth, if only they didn't make it a souls clone.
Nice! Thanks for the first hand experience input. Like I said, I didn't play it on the original release, and to the untrained eye, it doesn't look much different, but as you said with many hours of experience your interpretation will be much different.
I’m not aware of an upgrade to the original, which looks like an inferior game anyway. I’m thinking of just playing this remaster and skipping number one. Any insight? Cheers.
Death’s design is not inspired by Gears of War. These games are meant to look somewhat like comic books. The art director was a comic book artist. I know he worked on Spider-Man comics, but Peter Parker’s slender frame would not work for ancient warriors, hence why the makers, War, the angels and demons, and even Death to some extent are very muscular and have exaggerated proportions in some areas. But Death, if you noticed, has a more slender frame than the other characters, with only some muscles being “swollen”. He is meant to look more agile and animalistic than War. This can all be observed better in the art books for the games. One exception is Strife. He has oddly normal proportions for a Darksiders character. I suspect it’s because Darksiders Genesis was developed by a different team. Either way, it fits him to have a more slender body, as he is a gun slinger and somewhat of a trickster, rather than a full fledged warrior.
I didn't say it was inspired by gears of War. I came into it as a gamer with no external knowledge of comics etc. I was simply saying that they had a similar "chunky" character style. When I say that it was a popular at the time, it was just that many games (like gears of war) had it and therefore many people will probably like it. It's just a personal preference that the particular aesthetic is not my preference, but if it appeals to you or others that is great. If it comes from some other external source, that's great, but it's not something I am familiar with and researching the lore/concept art/external media is not the purpose of the video. Thank you for the comment providing additional context though, just wanted to clear my position with you
This is one of the best games of all time, i know it's a bit popular, but still.... under-rated imo! Another one that is cruelly under-rated is the amazing Lost Planet 3! (if you ever need some content + you'll have a great time for sure!) ;)
Dude you are the best gaming review channel we have the same taste in games Everytime I come to check out the channel you are reviewing games that I think about buying but don't games are way to expensive these days so I look for games that are 4 to 7 years old I don't have enough time to play like I want to anymore so it's refreshing to see an authentic review on games that I would probably just skip over. Keep the reviews coming!!! 😂👍🏾🤝🏾
I just got done playing the first game, it was fun, yeah, but the thing that makes me not want to play it again or the others is EVERY SINGLE level has like 10 puzzles ( thats what it feels like) just to get to 1 objective. And they reward you with a little bit of combat, and then guess what? MORE puzzles. It was really a brain draining experience. But thats just me tho.
Yeah it depends what you're looking for. I feel like alot of these old school ones like this or the classic God of War is like that (God of War probably had a little more combat heavy sequences to puzzle ratio, but still pretty puzzle heavy compared to more modern ones)
This game, felt like the nearest thing to a modern 'legacy of Kain; with the way death looks. I loved the 1st game, this game also, bought the original then thsi for PS4, might even buy it for PS5 and give 3 a try. Alot of these kind of games, the original God of War and others similar I hated, but the odd one, I loved, this and the 1st game and Ninja Gaiden where my go to action/adventure combat games of that era.
I played the original one and wanted the Deathinitive edition but my pc that time couldn't handle the Deathinitive edition graphics. But now I will purchase this game in steam cause this game is a Real Gem 💎💎
This game is forever my best game ever played its very long game and huge changes in different stages take u from a almost sweet game to a killer game its so good its not one dimensional game
To me this game should've been a 17/20. If not for the bugs and the inability to control yourself properly in air(even when you fall from a roof), but also the inability to execute arcane skills in air, it would be 20/20.
Darksiders one is more dungeon focused with a smaller overworld. so you do have more zelda like puzzles. Darksiders two has puzzles but the overworld is so big, they feel fewer and far between. There is also loot and lots more collectables.
sry to put it like this but Darksiders 2 was the shit back then , i of course mean in the good way lol, im building my pc soon and i deathinitively need to install darksiders 2 again and play it through Love the video its simplicity and ease of access chapters just subbed .
Not as good as 1 and 2. Still a good game. Just has an annoying character lacking bad assery and a horse. Yes you play as the only arrogant horsewoman with no horse.
The story is actually very good, it shows a lot of growth with the character and plays on your love of the series. But they made the horrible choice to make it a Souls clone. The combat is very fun and graphics are good, Fury winds up being an awesome character. You just have to overlook the Souls mechanics.
The game I played/reviewed was the remaster. It was very playable/I completed the game, and I didn't really run into much for bugs...occasional graphical thing you see in pretty much every game but nothing game breaking at all. Maybe they fixed it since you tried it?

Jesper Kyd made an amazing score for this game. I often listen to it.
Jesper Kyd made that shit!? My God!🤩

I like the way you did the review. I’m looking into older games to play on steam deck so this helped me out
Thank you so much

Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Thanks! This is just the video I needed.

Which game has more Zelda like puzzle solving in your opinion, this or the first game?

Darksiders two has puzzles but the overworld is so big, they feel fewer and far between. There is also loot and lots more collectables.
@@reffa2858 Thank you! I wound up going with Darksiders 2 but it didn't click too well. Maybe I'll give 1 a try.
@@MemeNess 2 is my favorite but Im an RPG nerd. D1 still stands on its own because its just a more focused experience.
So sad they dond make like this anymore
