Always amazed at how callous Rodimus is so quick to write off the planet and blow it up. What, he doesn’t even want to put a fight for it and instead just relocates everyone to cybertron and destroy a whole planet. As if cybertron is flowing with energy like this one.

That wasn’t the original mission. His team wasn’t gaining any ground and the Cons had a lot of fire power at their disposal. He couldn’t let other planets suffer the same fate Paradron did so he went with what he thought it was the best option.
Rodimus did more than Optimus ever did? Optimus never tried to fight for Cybertron? And when he decided the Autobots were outcast on two of Cybertron's Moon's? And losing big time until Rodimus retook Cybertron, Cybertron works as a galactic peace conference so to protect other planets this was a smart move from Rodimus? There Autobots they belong back on Cybertron. They left Cybertron to start a new civilization? Unfortunately the Decepticons found it?
The Autobot Team sent to the planet wasn't large enough to repel the Decepticons who had their entire army there. Even with arming the local Autobots with weapons, they wouldn't have been able to repel the Decepticons as the locals never saw combat. Therefore, the Autobots had no choice but to blow up the planet to keep the Decepticons from obtaining its energy resources and using it along with the planet as a base to conquer the rest of the galaxy.

It's the main conflict in the modern era that Optimus "destroyed" Cybertron in order to keep Megatron from it, but it wasn't until all other resources had been lost. It wasn't the first or second thought. It was the freaking Allspark. I don't mind it being an option, I mind it being so easy and thoughtless and careless. Hot Rod does have a tired voice, it just adds more to this carelessness feel. But it is what it is. An entire story to be fit into a 20 min episode does have to be rushed, it just feels rash.

See when you have no weapons you are doomed. The autobots got as good at fighting because they just came out of slavery to quintessons and the attempt by decepticons to use everyone as soldiers to conquer other planets. Basically you either fight or become slaves. The ones that can easily defend against Galvatron don't have to take anyone's side. But if you are weak and are easy target for Galvatron to bully you have less options and can't negotiate.

You never seen Devastator with one arm trying to capture autobots because the other constructicon didn't merge, he was busy getting ore they badly needed

In five faces of darkness you can actually see a scaled down Bruticus in a group of seperated Combaticons. Makes me wonder if the Decepticons decided to build a second permanantly combined version of Bruticus.
I mean, it's just another of many errors. Combiners (especially Decepticon combiners) combine to attack, they wouldn't just be standing around combined in a control room. That clearly should have been just one of the Combaticons, not Bruticus. 😃

Know your enemy well. Galvatron despite his unstable mentality know Ultra Magnus too well. Magnus usually the last to retreat in battle but this time he seem in a hurry to get away which made Galvatron suspicious of his actions
I think it shows the autobots are almost as warlike as the deceptions. The quintessons showed more remorse for destroying their world than rodimus and company showed destroying a utopia.
Sandstorm is one of my favorite characters. Mostly because he’s one of about 7 G1 figures that I had from the 80’s. Was super excited at the Thrilling 30 figure. Would love if he got a proper update like Springer did.

You possibly know about Blurr’s voice actor - John Moschitta Jr. (same voice in the old ‘Micro Machines’ adverts), who was born with exactly that as a speech disorder (talking very fast). He did well to get used to it, considering that, sadly for him, it can never be improved (his fast talking especially can’t be improved if he was born that way).
Blurr still makes me feel funny in my tummy when he speaks. He's bending time when he talks and it makes my stomach drop like going through a dip in the car kind of feeling. It's weird it still effects me all these years later.
I love how in this episode Galvatron is nearly up to Bruticus' chest, but in season 1 "Revenge of Bruticus" he's holding Megatron in the palm of his hand. Also in one scene Soundwave has the voice of an Insecticon....lol.
Would've been nice back then in the late 80's if Hasbro could've made a true Season 4 with most episodes looking back on the history of lost transformers civilizations like this one and expanded the storylines on it. Then afterwards make Season 5 The Rebirth with the Headmasters. They could've made lots of new transformers that would've made good sales on Hasbro's end.
Am I the only one who really likes this episode? I thought that this one has an interesting story and fabulous animation but people only remember it for that one outspoken line that Rodimus uttered.
Its badly written. They should have made Galvatron lose ground then when he realized he's losing, he blasts the energon saying "If I can't have the energon no one can!" What Rodimus said was like Optimus saying "let's destroy the earth before Decepticons uses its resources to make energon."
@@ixiahj Nope. Autobots were the underdogs back then and had limited resources and needed earth as a home base to get away from decepticons. It was mutual benefit that they defend it for humans (protecting a harmless fleshy race with no effective defense) and also to prevent megatron stealing the energon, sending it back to cybertron, and conquering the galaxy with his stockpiles of energon cubes. (protecting autobots and other planets from Megatron's eventual ambition to enslave everyone) By destroying a planet full of resources it denies the enemy getting it; saving the galaxy. It would be like if a doomsday weapon was in the hands of the villain and you blew up the entire base to stop it being used on a civilian population that can't defend itself against it.

I think it was supposed to be one of the other predacons, but AKOM F$#@&ed up and animated Brawl instead. The voice is distinctly different and he even speaks earlier in this episode so there is applicable comparison material to work with. Pretty jarring how quickly everyone just decided to sacrifice Paradron. The place was overflowing with energon, it should have been invaluable to Cybertron as an asset. It feels cruel and dumb that the Autobots would choose this as their first option and then not even mourn the place after.

I think prime would have tried to find a way to not destroy Paradron, but with a pacifist population, an insane amount of Energon, and the decepticons already set up as the de facto rulers, even the great prime may have had to blow up paradise. It’s a good thing Earth had a war-hardened population that actively fought back against the decepticons, except for that one time that they threw a parade in Megatron’s honor.

When Cyclonous and Scourge tried to tackle Superion at 1:57, and got bounced back like a loose basketball. I spat my apple juice and bite of a turkey sandwich out the first time I saw it, over thirty years ago. And almost as if fate intervened, my sip of Molson, and yes, another turkey sandwich with mustard, went airborne. All on my phone. With a genuine smile on my face, this was a spit take, thirty years in the making. I hope those kids in this backwards society at least get the chance to enjoy that ol' Real Ghostbusters, Thundercats, and Transformers days we were so fortunate to have had.

I think 13:19 is definitely bruticus since the lines matched and suited Bruticus more imo, and instead of Brawl being with Razor Claw it shoudve been Rampage or another predacon, doesn’t make sense why a Tank and Lion are working together 😂
The Transformers Generation 1 episode, 'Fight or Flee' Is One of My Favorite Episodes from the Original Transformers Generation 1 Cartoon Series ! This G1 episode Introduces the Autobot Triplechanger, Sandstorm ! This Transformers G1 episode Introduces that character But, techinically, 'Starscream's Ghost' Episode Is the character's first apperance because that G1 episode aired on Television before the Transformers G1 episode, 'Fight or Flee'! The episode also features the first and only apperance of the planet, Paradron. The robot citzens of Paradron, also make their first apperance. The Transformers G1 episode, "Fight or Flee', focuses on the Transformers G1 Autobot leader, Rodimus Prime ! Many of the Transformers G1 Season 3 episodes were aired out of order. There was a-lot confusion with the G1 storylines because these Transformers G1 episodes did not air on Television In the right order.
This is just another reason for me to not like Rodimus not only can’t he do his job and not complain he also doesn’t care when people loose there homes
I always liked Megatron's voice so much better than Galvatron's. I get they're the same person, I just really thought Megatron had a much better voice and was way more interesting. I didn't like how they a) got rid of the best decepticon Starscream...the fact they even made an entire episode dedicated to him was almost a F you to fans because they knew he was the favorite, and they even made an episode about him with Beast Wars. Truly baffling. b) The original Decepticons were the best, especially when all together. Now that I think about it, another F you was the fact the BEST decepticons were all killed in the movie and replaced with inferior versions or not replaced at all in Starscreams case. I wasn't the biggest Thundercracker fan, but I loved Skywarp. c) The 5 (best) and primary Decepticons all worked best together and that was impossible after the movie and past Season 2....Soundwave took a huge backseat even though he didn't die, and Shockwave I think died? He might as well have since he pretty much vanished too. Never understood as a kid why they did that, thank god they at least kept the combiners, or else they really would have ruined the show. edit: Okay...hearing Scourge call the lame Autobots a bunch of Sissies almost makes up for everything I just typed LOL...and Galvatron seriously saying "I don't know, I don't know Scourge" after he asks if it's some sort of afterlife for robots where they are. Speaking of which, they certainly go through time and space quite often in this show lol...definitely played fast and loose with good old reality huh? I totally forgot about that until rewatching these all for the first time in like 30 years, and as corny as it gets at points it's still unbelievably amazing still just hitting middle age haha. Man good memories...
I never liked all of that "Hot Rod caused Prime's death" stuff....but it turns out that Hot Rod is an unthinking planet destroying maniac. A lesson for us all: Beware you don't grow into that which you despise.. Amongst all of the iffy stuff Autobots do and say in this episode, it is Galvatron who says the most when he shouts "Every Decepticon for himself"... beware what kind of person you associate with. Those who promote greed, selfishness, spite and self interest will abandon you when the hard times come.
@@starstuff5371 Best guess, the writer wrote the line for Sharpnel, not realizing he was supposed to be dead, which is fair because this was probably written before the movie had been released and his death in it had no little fanfare half the staff probably missed it. The animators however, knew Shrapnel was dead assumed the scripting was a mistake and added Soundwave there instead (which also makes sense because he was alive and he's the communications guy) Audio was recorded first for these shows, which is why it doesn't always line up with the animation.
Probably one of my favorite episodes in the third season. Which says something because I didn't particularly like the third season not much. Though I think the meaning of the story, the symbolism of it, escapes some people, I liked it when they actually had stories like this. Though I think Rodimus's last line in the episode was done in poor taste, one of the best episodes I think in this season.

I think it shows the autobots are almost as warlike as the deceptions. The quintessons showed more remorse for destroying their world than rodimus and company showed destroying a utopia.

Sandstorm is one of my favorite characters. Mostly because he’s one of about 7 G1 figures that I had from the 80’s. Was super excited at the Thrilling 30 figure. Would love if he got a proper update like Springer did.
Honestly, the Thrilling 30 Springer was a better figure than the WFC or Earthrise one. Better plastic and engineering.

You possibly know about Blurr’s voice actor - John Moschitta Jr. (same voice in the old ‘Micro Machines’ adverts), who was born with exactly that as a speech disorder (talking very fast). He did well to get used to it, considering that, sadly for him, it can never be improved (his fast talking especially can’t be improved if he was born that way).

Blurr still makes me feel funny in my tummy when he speaks. He's bending time when he talks and it makes my stomach drop like going through a dip in the car kind of feeling. It's weird it still effects me all these years later.

I love how in this episode Galvatron is nearly up to Bruticus' chest, but in season 1 "Revenge of Bruticus" he's holding Megatron in the palm of his hand.
Also in one scene Soundwave has the voice of an Insecticon....lol.
Would've been nice back then in the late 80's if Hasbro could've made a true Season 4 with most episodes looking back on the history of lost transformers civilizations like this one and expanded the storylines on it. Then afterwards make Season 5 The Rebirth with the Headmasters. They could've made lots of new transformers that would've made good sales on Hasbro's end.
Am I the only one who really likes this episode? I thought that this one has an interesting story and fabulous animation but people only remember it for that one outspoken line that Rodimus uttered.
Its badly written. They should have made Galvatron lose ground then when he realized he's losing, he blasts the energon saying "If I can't have the energon no one can!" What Rodimus said was like Optimus saying "let's destroy the earth before Decepticons uses its resources to make energon."

@@ixiahj Nope. Autobots were the underdogs back then and had limited resources and needed earth as a home base to get away from decepticons. It was mutual benefit that they defend it for humans (protecting a harmless fleshy race with no effective defense) and also to prevent megatron stealing the energon, sending it back to cybertron, and conquering the galaxy with his stockpiles of energon cubes. (protecting autobots and other planets from Megatron's eventual ambition to enslave everyone) By destroying a planet full of resources it denies the enemy getting it; saving the galaxy. It would be like if a doomsday weapon was in the hands of the villain and you blew up the entire base to stop it being used on a civilian population that can't defend itself against it.

@@ixiahj Galvatron is not the leader Megatron was: Unicron really messed him up in the head--or maybe it was because Unicron was no longer there to support his mental process, I've never quite been sure--and it really shows throughout the series.

Perhaps bad writing, but I thought it was purposeful. Rodimus has to make a difficult and unpleasant decision. Very 70's or 80's -ish and bleak to me.

I think it was supposed to be one of the other predacons, but AKOM F$#@&ed up and animated Brawl instead. The voice is distinctly different and he even speaks earlier in this episode so there is applicable comparison material to work with. It wouldn't be AKOM's first screw up and it definitely wouldn't be their last.

Bruticus could possibly have had a pirate’s peg leg where Brawl should be, and only having Swindle as a leg, so that it could be possible for Bruticus and Brawl to co-exist.

Pretty jarring how quickly everyone just decided to sacrifice Paradron. The place was overflowing with energon, it should have been invaluable to Cybertron as an asset. It feels cruel and dumb that the Autobots would choose this as their first option and then not even mourn the place after.

Earth had a population that fought back, a population that already knew destructive warfare. Also the earth didn’t have a ready made way to explode with one well placed bomb.
Not really. The Cons had to mine Earth’s natural resources to produce the stuff. Plus the humans weren’t just going to let the Cons have it. It also helped that they had Autobot Allies to help protect the planet.

I think prime would have tried to find a way to not destroy Paradron, but with a pacifist population, an insane amount of Energon, and the decepticons already set up as the de facto rulers, even the great prime may have had to blow up paradise. It’s a good thing Earth had a war-hardened population that actively fought back against the decepticons, except for that one time that they threw a parade in Megatron’s honor.
They built an entire prison to house ONE autobot? Sandstorm should be flattered that the Decepticons thought one Autobot was worthy of the effort.

And almost as if fate intervened, my sip of Molson, and yes, another turkey sandwich with mustard, went airborne. All on my phone. With a genuine smile on my face, this was a spit take, thirty years in the making.
I hope those kids in this backwards society at least get the chance to enjoy that ol' Real Ghostbusters, Thundercats, and Transformers days we were so fortunate to have had.

At 4:40 seconds they screw up and put a insecticons voice over soundwave. I remember this happening a few times in the show where they didn't match the voices to the right character lol.

The Transformers Generation 1 episode, 'Fight or Flee' Is One of My Favorite Episodes from the Original Transformers Generation 1 Cartoon Series ! This G1 episode Introduces the Autobot Triplechanger, Sandstorm ! This Transformers G1 episode Introduces that character But, techinically, 'Starscream's Ghost' Episode Is the character's first apperance because that G1 episode aired on Television before the Transformers G1 episode, 'Fight or Flee'! The episode also features the first and only apperance of the planet, Paradron. The robot citzens of Paradron, also make their first apperance. The Transformers G1 episode, "Fight or Flee', focuses on the Transformers G1 Autobot leader, Rodimus Prime ! Many of the Transformers G1 Season 3 episodes were aired out of order. There was a-lot confusion with the G1 storylines because these Transformers G1 episodes did not air on Television In the right order.
Nothing beats Gen 1 transformers.

I always liked Megatron's voice so much better than Galvatron's. I get they're the same person, I just really thought Megatron had a much better voice and was way more interesting. I didn't like how they
a) got rid of the best decepticon Starscream...the fact they even made an entire episode dedicated to him was almost a F you to fans because they knew he was the favorite, and they even made an episode about him with Beast Wars. Truly baffling.
b) The original Decepticons were the best, especially when all together. Now that I think about it, another F you was the fact the BEST decepticons were all killed in the movie and replaced with inferior versions or not replaced at all in Starscreams case. I wasn't the biggest Thundercracker fan, but I loved Skywarp.
c) The 5 (best) and primary Decepticons all worked best together and that was impossible after the movie and past Season 2....Soundwave took a huge backseat even though he didn't die, and Shockwave I think died? He might as well have since he pretty much vanished too. Never understood as a kid why they did that, thank god they at least kept the combiners, or else they really would have ruined the show.
edit: Okay...hearing Scourge call the lame Autobots a bunch of Sissies almost makes up for everything I just typed LOL...and Galvatron seriously saying "I don't know, I don't know Scourge" after he asks if it's some sort of afterlife for robots where they are. Speaking of which, they certainly go through time and space quite often in this show lol...definitely played fast and loose with good old reality huh? I totally forgot about that until rewatching these all for the first time in like 30 years, and as corny as it gets at points it's still unbelievably amazing still just hitting middle age haha. Man good memories...
I never liked all of that "Hot Rod caused Prime's death" stuff....but it turns out that Hot Rod is an unthinking planet destroying maniac. A lesson for us all: Beware you don't grow into that which you despise..
Amongst all of the iffy stuff Autobots do and say in this episode, it is Galvatron who says the most when he shouts "Every Decepticon for himself"... beware what kind of person you associate with. Those who promote greed, selfishness, spite and self interest will abandon you when the hard times come.

@@starstuff5371 Best guess, the writer wrote the line for Sharpnel, not realizing he was supposed to be dead, which is fair because this was probably written before the movie had been released and his death in it had no little fanfare half the staff probably missed it. The animators however, knew Shrapnel was dead assumed the scripting was a mistake and added Soundwave there instead (which also makes sense because he was alive and he's the communications guy) Audio was recorded first for these shows, which is why it doesn't always line up with the animation.

Probably one of my favorite episodes in the third season. Which says something because I didn't particularly like the third season not much. Though I think the meaning of the story, the symbolism of it, escapes some people, I liked it when they actually had stories like this. Though I think Rodimus's last line in the episode was done in poor taste, one of the best episodes I think in this season.
Would of been better off joining the Decepticons. They would of still had a planet.
And been slaves and mistreated and killed by galvatron
