    Man great video. Ever has a saltwater tank just a 80 fresh water. I just got my first 120 gallon corner flo marine land tank just finished plumbing yesterday. I’m excited but very concerned. I am going to be buying my first house about a year and a half and will have to move this tank. But could not pass but the deal. A saltwater store was closing so I got tank stand hood bashsea protein skimmer, bashea sump and pump all 70% off. Your video has been so inspiring. Would love any advice on getting started with corals without fear of the move.

  • @emmahilliard3149
    @emmahilliard3149 4 роки тому

    I love how real this dude is. He shares all his deaths and all the struggles as well as the success. Most UA-camrs would try to lie and just give an update about how beautiful and successful they are so that they don"t get any backlash from the comments. This is a very tedious hobby, and to get everything 100% right the first time is nearly impossible. Good job CJ and keep up the videos!
    As far as my own tank, I bought all live rock, live sand, and already filtered water from my local fish store Glass Aquatics, so even though it was a bit pricier, I didn't have any of the same algae issues (highly recommend). Only have one clown fish death so far (my salinity was really high at the time so that's probably why), and possibly a pom pom crab death... haven't seen the dude since the day I put him in my tank 3 months ago, but I know they're good at hiding so idk.

    Hey man, a nice hello from Slovenija.
    I started my tank 7 months ago with dry rock and dry sand, and man... had the same problems, things dying, cyano ect.... the filing when you wake up, get to the tank and another thing went wrong.. kinda depressing. BUT, things slowly started to go ok for me now :) And I appreciate a video like this that makes me think that I'm not alone in this. Tnx man for making my day :)

    Fantastic recap and even showing the bad. Some people just want overnight colonies and in this hobby that doesn't happen fast. Only the bad happens fast. Give I another year and it will be completely different. My sps encrusted for 3 months before growing upwards.

    Did adding so many corals at once not throw you into a cycle or a crash? I am pretty sure that is why I crashed. My 10 gallon was 6 months old. never had any algae at all. Kept lights off for 2 1/2 months or more then added 2 corals around 3 month stage than 2 more then 2 more. All was well until I traded live rock with someone. She had caves and arches from caribe sea so I kept them in a bucket for 2 weeks with no ammonia source(long story) then put them in and all seemed well, then about a month later I had ammonia, maybe from a picky eater fish and was throwing in a lot of food but usually got it out with turkey baster daily. I was also taking out rocks to clean sand in the cave about 3 time so maybe lost bacteria doing that. About this time i got 18 frags, Most I won so thats why i added so many at once. Looking fine for a week or 2 then discoverd my salinity had dropped to 2019, either dropped or I mixed it wrong beacuse my refractometer was off 4 points or so, but Not sure if it was off when I mixed it about 6 days proir. I have had a hell of a time getting things back into cycled, ammonia followed by nitrites and trates so pretty much crased. Lost about 8 corals and the rest are mostly softies and I have no idea if they will make it. Damage maybe be too much. They wont upen or stand upright! Now I am trying to decide If I want to spend some xtra money on radions for my new tank or an apex!! i had a mishap with a cobalt heater that more than likely would have cause a crash if I would have had corals and more than fish! I could just get a temperature moniter and I am constantly checking my salinty now that I have a digital hanna checker! I can say one thing for certain. the radions make your tank look much better and more color pop than the ocean revive. I have been looking into them as well but dont wan to have to mount so high! What are your thoughts on an apex, are they worth the money? How about radions compared to Ocean revive? Your tank looks fantastic! really enjoy your channel and love how you are so open about everything and I think you truely are a caring person and want to help people even if it means sharing your mistakes! Thats a wonderful virtue :{

    You might wanna ease up on food. Make sure everything is eaten use a Tube. Siphon it up , Finger on top, place in tank and release a lil at a time. Hey will know the tube, including inverts and everything will come out of the rocks when the tube goes in the water. It’s cool and very rewarding. Jus sayin

    Quick question - i have a 55 gallon tank - I think I made a huge mistake I bought 10 frags that were on sale, in a month old tank some look pathetic, I found out my salinity was low, I’m using Chinese leds, and some live rock some dry rock and black sand, any tips on what I should do? I’m in the cloudy stage of my tank I did a huge water change, that cleared up some, I’m also using a canister filter. Any advice would be appreciated.

    CJ - great videos man, I have watched every episode of every tank a few times thru now to prepare for my first reef tank build. Great Editing, thank you for not rambling on on about other topics which is pretty common on these sorts of videos. Most importantly thank you for sharing your defeats as well as your victory’s. I can go turn on a BRS video for the run down of how to do something, but yours is the only honest series where I can learn from your mistakes. Thanks for having the pride and self confidence to do that.

    Big respect to you. Like you said it, most wont admit all the wrongs they did, nor would they even show it in a video. This video should be on every beginners “must watch” list. You said everything as it is, the truth, you didn’t sugar coat anything.

    I loved watching your journey over the past year! The tank is looking wonderful. This was a great video. And I’m becoming a little bit attached to that white vent cover now.....😈
