That could have been me at the beginning, started work at Ellesmere Port plant
At age 21 and retired at age 55 ten years ago!
Saw a lot of changes in production I can say!
Paint dept, upholstery, engine build, body shop.
Permanent employment for 35 yrs, and a pension
I’m not complaining.
You must have been there when I was there, I left 6 years ago, I was on general assembly then qa

Yes, 35 yrs!
Ya gotta work somewhere!
Warm in winter, cool in summer!
Leave your brain at the gate!
Hard going sometimes!
Summertime on nights!
Bad daytime sleeps!
What’s not to like!👍
I left 12 yrs ago!
Seems like 5 yrs!
Take care!
Vauxhall Firenza going sideways, all the yes! Also note how the new astra needed ramps to look exciting whereas everything that was older, even the brown chevette, looks pure cool
People ask what we do at Vauxhall's, well here it is... This is what we do all day every day.. Well somebody has to do it!!
It's Great to be part of this and may it long continue!
Love the way they have to put the new astra on two wheel and throw it off a ramp to make it appear as appealing as the rest, just let us know when you've made a proper one again, Vauxhaull
Droopsnoot :) i used to own one of those xx
Brilliant love video especially the HPF Firenza the Chevette my all time favourite the Chevette hs
liked for the chevettes :)
More HS in 2024 please!
I love the ad, fun quality cars, thank you Vauxhall
Keep making cars in Britain Guys

@@mrtry8982 german or korean design since 1979
@@jemimallah2591 oh okay 👌
Bring back the Chevette!
We always called it the Shove It :)
Very cool. I absolutely adore the Firenza, but also have a soft spot for the mk1 Astra cos my Dad had one.
My Grandad moved to the works from Dunstable for the start up. he was on transmissions, his name was Frank Dagger, he was snooker champion there many times. Though I have owned & driven many Vauxhall Opel cars since, the one that was a riot to drive was the HSR Chevette. It was like having a pet tiger, totally exciting but just might kill you one day.
Absolute brilliant guys!!! Even though not my favourite. That's the spirit. Not some dull idiot ads...
Beautiful video. Love the soundtrack as well, totally brings back the vibes from those time periods.
The mk3 astra was the best hot hatch
Thank you Vauxhall . I loved my chevette HSR and still have fond memories of it . It ended up a rally car rallying in the boarders and Scotland .
Great video! Love the GM World Car/T series/Chevette!
I like the way he has a picture of Nigella Lawson inside his locker :)
+Jon Burgess I thought the same. But then, if this was made by Saatchi and Saatchi (I don't know if it is), would explain why.
That was very cool 😎
ah yes I remember it well, the nineteen seventies, who wouldn't want to experience that, no fancy traction control and ABS you drove on the throttle and the brakes, and if you bend it you mend it. 220bhp in a Chevette, that was fun.
Love the vid I remember them all. You missed the mk2 Astra 16v. That won btcc.
I love this so much! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Congratulations Vauxhall it's great to see great cars assembled here in the uk including Opel branded astra keep up the good work and long may it continue
done to perfection. great video (:
Very nicely done
Love it!
Very nice!
Any idea if this soundtrack is available?
Great ! and what an achievement 5 Million cars, and here's to the next !
Hopefully PSA looks after Vauxhall and Opel.....Deserve some good times again...
i bleed Ford Blue but that was pretty cool
Nice
who made the music?
This background music is very good. What is the name of the music and who is the artist?
any clues as to who did the music??
Music?
As far as I know, all Vauxhall branded Astra Mk7 and almost all Opel branded Astra K were made by Vauxhall in Ellesmere Port factory; some Opel branded Astra K were made by Opel in its Polish factory.
1:11 That Me Alright :D
No Chevanne :(
I hope that they keep the factory going, I have to take "Quicksilver" Astra GTE design exercise back to the factory after all it was built for the factory's 25th anniversary in 1987.
What's the driver's name? (was it all one person over the years?)
Dude... It's wasn't filmed over the years. No idead about who the driver is, but pretty sure that as seen in the film, he just changed clothes and car!
Ellesmere Pete!
Seems strange to think that Vauxhall has a long history of making hot hatches... what do they have left now...? Not a lot. The VXR range was quite successful for a while but all seems totally extinct now PSA are running the show. What a sad state of affairs :-(
didnt bother with the astra G or H there then. When the new car came on doing "stunts" the video went from quite cool to terrible
What happened to the cars used in this manner? Are they supplied to the dealers like nothing happened? Just bought my Sports Tourer and I'd be devastated if I spent weeks n weeks running it in when someone had already thrashed it
The Astra disappeared
You need to sort out your seeding as this vid should have had waaaay more views. Get a digital strategist involved next time.
I prefer the GM cars than the Stellantis made Citroen-Peugeot-Fiat etc shared platform-parts etc cars
this is how Opel looses the soul of the their cars :(
FreestylerAlbert vauxhall
Good video, apart from the CGI bolox towards the end and obviously teh biggest shitter of the whole video is the fact it features Vauxhalls.
