Just a note, in the S5 finale, Hastings gave Corbett's widow £50,000 of the £100,000 bribe the ex-cop tried to give him (dressing it up as a return from his failed property investment). No doubt this is why she can afford to keep the house etc. Also my theory is that the whole Kettlebell Complex investment was a trap deliberately set by the OCG from the beginning to pressure officers like Ted financially. It's a cop "friend" who convinces him to invest his life savings in it, and it's an ex-cop who tries to later bribe him using the Investment as an excuse. We also know the OCG owns property all around the city. Finally, I think Davidson knows Ryan is bent. Her use of the word "rat" is very unusual, cops don't normally talk about "rats", that something criminals say.
Lisa McQueen used the term 'rat' against John Corbett in series 5. Is there a relationship between Corbett and Davidson? Their birthdays are within 6 weeks of each other !!!
Davidson hitting her windows at the end of the episode has great similarities to someone trying to break out/get out of somewhere. Its almost like it signifies that she can't get out of dealings with the OCG and she is trapped.
Reminds me of Roz in part 2. And also Lenny in part one. All good cops being blackmailed. They KNOW they will get caught. They know they are finished. They have no choice but to be bent. However in their hearts they are still good cops and will pull off something to help the police. Davidson is a super smart cookie and that's why she has been picked.
Much better than the first episode. She's definitely being blackmailed by the OCG. Her going mad in the car at the end suggests the OCG have something on her that's dire and left field and I don't think anybody will guess what it is.
She told her ex lover she had NO family. After was it 4 years her lover had not met her mom. and angrily threw something at her picture with her mom. Something going on there but what?
that was my immediate thought. it was exactly what lisa used to say even ryan. but i feel as though she was forced to say it implying that she doesn't have a choice in this.
Oh so many things to say here. 1. Kelly Mac Donald, the actress who plays DCI Jo Davison is actually Scottish. She is a very well known actress and was in Trainspotting, Brave, Nanny McFee and she also does the voice over for the TSB adverts. I think she’s a great actress. 2. At the end of the last series Superintendent Ted Hastings received a Final Warning. One of the suspicions was that he had taken bribe money after £50 000 was found in his hotel room. Mark Moffat, the ex police federation representative who was hassling him to get involved re a previous property deal, claimed to have given him £100 000 but only £50 000 was found. At the end of the last episode he was seen approaching DC John Corbetts widow with a brown paper package and we were left to presume that he had given the cash to his deceased friends sons family. 3. Theories. I always refrain from deciding on a theory too early in the series as we don’t have enough information yet and we know there is tons more to come. However, potential theories pop into my head as I’m watching and I keep them in mind for the future. It seems to me that DCC Andrea Wise is becoming more and more prevalent in the story. She does one thing and then another leading to confusion for AC12 and certainly for me. Given the emphasis on DCI Davison’s picture of presumably herself and her mother, I wondered if perhaps her mother is DCC Wise? Especially as one or two of the characters have referred to the possibility that H could be either male or female. Just a thought. My mind is open and I’m ready for more information to dissect. Well done on these videos. I’m really enjoying them xxx
The recording is very relevant it’s Jimmy Lakewell on it. He was the dodgy Solicitor in season 4. Went to Prison same prison as lee banks from season 5. Carl banks is his brother cousin or something. I think it’s also relevant now that in s6ep1 terry referred to vella As the ‘nice lady’ like she knew him? I think she befriended him, took a picture and OCG had her killed.
Yeah I definitely think they used Terry as bait to find out about "a journalist" who was making discoveries about the OCG's connection with the police.
So Steve didn’t fake the flare up of his back pain when he was at Stephanie’s house in order to distract her, get her to leave the house so that he could snoop around for clues of where she got the money from for the fancy TV?! I know he genuinely does have a back problem but thought he faked that particular moment
Another great video Benja. For me the clue that Davidson would implicate Jatri came in episode 1 with the shot of her deciding to hold on to Jatri's key when she left her for good. Now here we see in episode 2 Davidson asking AC-12 to search others houses including Jatri's, where obviously she placed the burners.
Really enjoyed this. When Davidson mentioned “that’s what happens to a rat” I thought that was her and Ryan being bent together but didn’t think it could’ve been her talking about Jatri and not realising Ryan is one of the core OCG. Keep making these videos please haha.
Rat isn’t used to describe a crooked police officer though. A Rat is a criminal who collaborates with the police to turn other criminals in or give information that could lead to their arrest etc.
Hastings gave Corbett's wife £50,000 in cash at the very end of series 5. There's a mid credit scene last episode, if I am not mistaken. Also the audio file they pulled from Vela's laptop sounds like she was talking to one DC Tony Gates...
@@AldershotDave Series 5 episode 6 . Benja was unsure if Hastings was giving Corbett's wife money. It showed him give a brown envelope (50,000) to her at the end of s5.

Well this episode was definitely a step up from the opener and more a return to what we expect from the show but again, narratively speaking, I think it makes sense that the first episode was a slow burn and that it laid the groundwork nicely for this episode. I agree that it looks like Jo is being manipulated by the OCG, they are using her mother against her somehow but not sure in what way - I don't think it would be as straightforward as holding her hostage although that could explain the locks on her door if her home was previously broken into (or a previous home). But Jo's reaction to her Mum's photo was very angry so I don't know if she is angry with herself for letting something happen to her Mum or angry that her Mum has done something which has now come back to haunt them. I think Corbett's widow coming back is intriguing, I don't think there is any romantic connotations between her and Hastings (her and Steve, who knows) but I wonder how much Hastings told her about his connections to Corbett's past. And a loose thread is still hanging from Series 5 in that Gill was told by the OCG to point Corbett towards Hastings so it would suggest whoever is pulling the strings knows of Hastings' past in Northern Ireland, whether that be that they knew him personally or have just trawled through his records remains unclear for now. Osborn(e) being the Chief Constable is definitely intriguing too and he may possibly have connections to Hastings' past, having worked in Counter Terror and from looking at him, he would seem to be of an age where he might have been a young frontline officer during the 80s and 90s when the IRA were carrying out attacks, that could have led him to his career in counter terror potentially. Still not sure what to make of Kate's motives - I also thought it was a bit poor she didn't recognise Ryan but I didn't pick up on her looking into him later on so at least she is doing that. On a related note to Ryan, I suspect Jo probably does know about Ryan's connections - I think she introduces him to the team and then it seems more than coincidental that he picks her up when she is released at the end. And she uses the term 'rat' which we know is an OCG term. Finally I think that recording with Vella talking to someone was actually Baines from Series 3, if you go back and listen to it again and then watch any scene of him from Series 3 the voice sound familiar and there was a production photo of Arnott going to see someone in prison in a later episode so I think that is who it will turn out to be but I'm unsure of his significance because he seemed very low level, unless he managed to carry out some covert work of his own to gather evidence before he went to prison and knows something that he didn't previously reveal.
Forgot to mention, I like the idea of the DCC and the PCC (god the acronyms) possibly working covertly if they suspect someone even more senior to them is corrupt - in this case Osborne, that could be a good twist. And when Hastings was about to say 'Bent coppers' I said out loud myself while watching. He had a couple of zingers in this episode for sure.
Of course!!! Damn!!!!! I forgot she interviewed him!! She's the key!! It needs to twig.....because he looks EXACTLY the same, just older. I'm very surprised 5' 1" Arnott hasn't recognised him yet.
Kate is starting to remember, as she has his personal file open with his picture on her computer, but what about when at the end of Series 5, when the OCG plant Ryan in the police academy as a begining stage replacement for DOT, he was using his own name, he didn't change his last name and he used PC Banergy as a reference in his interview, yet nothing showed up in his background check that as a 13 or 14 yo he was involved with the kidnapping of 2 police officers and the torture of 1 and was interrogated by Kate and probably involved with the Greek Lane Murders, that this kid was up to his neck in OCG connections and he still got in? Some one of high rank and influence would have had to pull strings and suppress the background check..."H"
@@paulmurphy773 oh wow! Of course....."H." Some very dodgy strings being pulled. Surely, eventually, between Fleming and Arnott, they'll recognise this kid/now police officer. Also, the fact that Davidson just escaped that tough questioning and immediately after she's picking up another burner then going crazy in the car tells me she's in a web that she can't get out of.....unless it's in a coffin. Just a theory, but could she be the daughter of the chief organiser of crime in seasons 1 and 2? (I can't remember his name, dark haired, Irish accent). DS Arnott (sorry readers, I'm on one now, bit firmly between my teeth 😅) is definitely going to get close with Corbetts ex. Do you think that at some she'll confide in DS Arnott about something significant he said to her before she died? And as for Fleming, not being funny, great character and actress but her cover gets blown more than (I'll keep it clean) my washing on a line. She SEEMS to be undercover again as seemingly going for a same sex relationship overnight when there's never been any indication of this previously. I'll be watching that closely. Let's just say her "non work" interest in Davison doesn't sit as genuine with me.
The way she was acting in the car at the end of ep 2 Makes me believe the OCG is blackmailing her. Something similar to what we saw with Tony Gates in S1
@@evilminky111 It think it’s Jimmy Lakewell because he said a similar thing in S4 and on the recording saying there’s some people you can’t be protected from.
My theory is Ted is helping Steph as Ted loved John Corbetts mother and maybe wants to see johns children do not go without, although the pension thing may mean this is not the case. Great video
This episode was basically do u remember what happened in that 2 second clip in season 2 do u remember that guy in season 4 do u remember that woman in season 1
I actually think the opposite about jo. I think that's she's been forced into a life of working with the the ocg possiblely because her mother may be a part of them
Think Kate is working for another AC group also I think so is Chloe working at AC12. I think when it comes to who H is maybe it's a police station. The Hill is where we know now currently to dirty cops are, Ryan and Kelly mc Donald's character . Also heard in a podcast that Dott started at the Hill also.
I meant to say the "she" that I refer to is Kate Fleming. Davidson is neck deep in this and will be surprised if she's still alive by episode 4 of this series.
@@robread2517 I think under the beard was the actor Neil Morrissey who played said Nigel Morton, could be wrong but with all the references to the first series, just a thought
I don’t think Farida is working for the OCG. However, I was puzzled as to why we were told that the investigation into the burner phones found Farida’s DNA (they never mentioned finger prints) on one/some of the phones. I think that Jo rubbed some of Farida’s clothing on the phones when she came back to get her stuff from Farida’s house.
I have heard because of the scottish accent that Jo Davison has, that she is related to Tommy Hunter, the OCG crime boss from Series 1 and 2. Whether it's his younger sister, possible daughter or another relation, and because the OCG lost Hunter, but through him knew she was working in the police force, that they caught up with her, put pressure on her by blackmail or intimidation, which forced her into being the OCG's eyes and ears in the police force - just like Tony Gates. I also reckon her mother's been killed or is held hostage, because of her ties to Tommy Hunter. Would'nt surprise me if Jo's real surname is'nt Hunter!
theyve been a bit cavalier with Ryan if his path is to be the new Cotton. any juvenile records would likely be gone/never existes, but mere weeks before joining police he was witnessed killing Clayton in front of about ten trafficed women and members of a temporarily allied gang all of whom could reoccur. Kate has already recognised his face, and he's had to hide from Steve during the failed file seizure by ac12. If his career is going to last more than a season he needs to fade away fast. He also will be on record as the officer who found the ocg knife near banks that has brought up questions so far. the kids going to be in prison before he gets his own set of burners if he isn't careful. You ever think about the cop who shot Cotton free, or officer who attacked jill beigelow in ac12 toilet? like what exactly could you have on someone to make them do a suicide mission? they're going into it saying "life can never be the same", its to big & obvious a crime to just blackmail someone into. they'd need the ocg version of witness protection if they where to ever escape custody, but you'd know it'd be simpler for the ocg to kill you after. the ac officer who attacked Jill even knew the building was being watched by fire arm officers with transport on route. I cant rationalise this behaviour, it just seems like its written for drama without logic, which is not common in LOD.
Yeah, I agree on Kate not wanting to blow her cover for AC3 or whoever else it is she's working for. But Ryan knows about Jo and vice versa. That's why she said, that's what happens to rats. She's not accusing her of being corrupt, she's accusing her of trying to rat Jo out. She wouldn't say that to another copper if she was trying to give off the air of being straight. Also, the voice in the recording sounds suspiciously like the lawyer from series 4 who helped get Steve pushed down the stairs.
Jed M needs to start giving us answers after 6 years of hints and clues. I kinda feel that fans are getting a bit frustrated with LOD. 6 years of ‘who ‘who is H m? is getting a bit tedious
Can anybody remember; when Lynsey Denton was in the car with Dot; just before he shot her she sent an email from her mobile phone with the list of names. She was supposed to be sending it to Hastings. Did it ever get to him? Don’t seem to remember it ever being mentioned again???
@@jibraeel thanks, don’t remember seeing anything that showed Hastings receiving it?? But if he did he has never mentioned it or used it in any way we know of? Would have thought that list is kryptonite level stuff and it’s strange that it has been suppressed is it not???
@@vanellusx2785 no it did show them getting the list Lindsay sent it then got shot and while that happened they were intervening that old man who was a police officer and a mason and they were about to let him go but Hastings got the list from Lindsay
I also think that Davidson probably knows Ryan is a OCG member, there was no error that she used the term rat, and Ryan dealt with a perceived rat in John Corbett plus the voice on the recording does sound like Jimmy Lakewell from the balaclava man season. Lakewell was the lawyer. He would have many top clients. But how did Vella speak to him as he must be in prison now. She may have visited him in prison and covertly recorded their conversations
Jo's accdent is what it is... that's her normal as far as I can recall. But there again I have worked in Scotland and am not ever fazed by an accent there.
Already a lot better than season 5 plot wise and character. Kelly McDonald is amazing. I feel like they are trying to make arnott look guilty of something like the show did with Hastings in season 5. But not as obvious which was a weak point I had with s5.
Here my theory Joe used a burner phone before the raid at the flat where Terry was and set up that armed robbery at the bookies give more time for the OGC unit to murder the main suspect and the chizz given Kate's undercover work at hillside with Ryan at the end picking up Joe in police car then picking up said burner phone
By “HMRS”, I’m presuming you mean HMRC? Why would they be interested in Stephanie’s new TV? It’s not suspicious that she has a new TV - she got a good insurance/Police payout following John’s death. Also, will we find out later that Steve pretended to have a back spasm to get Stephanie out of the house (she went to get some pain killers from his car) so as he could have a very quick hunt about it to plant a bug/camera?
As a former tax accountant, HMRC would be watching her if she put the £50k into her bank or made some major purchases (£30k+ if memory serves me correct). The TV and sports package was just to indicate that she's still maintaining a decent standard of living. Although, I don't think she got the police payout as John had went "rogue" hadn't he, therefore not in the "line of duty"
Just a note, in the S5 finale, Hastings gave Corbett's widow £50,000 of the £100,000 bribe the ex-cop tried to give him (dressing it up as a return from his failed property investment).
No doubt this is why she can afford to keep the house etc.

It's a cop "friend" who convinces him to invest his life savings in it, and it's an ex-cop who tries to later bribe him using the Investment as an excuse. We also know the OCG owns property all around the city.

Also , in series 1. DI Buckles interviewed Ryan....and was very miffed when DC Fleming actually put the wind up Ryan in the same interview.
The way she was acting in the car at the end of ep 2 Makes me believe the OCG is blackmailing her. Something similar to what we saw with Tony Gates in S1
I think its in relation to her family too
The money came from the "missing 50k" at the end of season 5. You see hasting visit corbets wife with a brown envelope
Is season six airing in the US yet? If so, where?
BBC America I imagine
@@fayesouthall6604 Line of duty is on but not season six yet.
@@coldbrew974 fair enough. No spoilers then.
It began streaming on Britbox on May 18,
Did anyone notice the golf pictures in buckles office which obviously relates to the caddy
Kate remembers Ryan! I bet if Steve saw him, he will remember the little shit.
great video - gave me plenty to think about ! 😀
I think the male voice on the recording was Jimmy Lakewell who was the solicitor working with Hilton in S4.
Definitely - I recognised his voice immediately
I think the voice is Nigel . The Neil Morrissey Character from earlier seasons.
@@evilminky111 It think it’s Jimmy Lakewell because he said a similar thing in S4 and on the recording saying there’s some people you can’t be protected from.
@@cstiles1579 It could well be Lakewell but that voice sounds very similar to Morressey’s voice over adverts .
keep these coming - good job
Its shaping up to be the best series of the lot. The BBC can still do class drama when they try.
Excellent video. Very thought-provoking
My theory is Ted is helping Steph as Ted loved John Corbetts mother and maybe wants to see johns children do not go without, although the pension thing may mean this is not the case. Great video
it could even be that he is John’s father and thus Steph’s daughter is his grandchild
Do you think Steve was pretending to have a back spasm so she would have to leave the house and he could look around?
It is possible but I don't think he was pretending. He wouldn't have much time to look around because Steph was in a hurry to get the pills.
This makes me want to go back to season one!
This episode was basically do u remember what happened in that 2 second clip in season 2 do u remember that guy in season 4 do u remember that woman in season 1
Jo Davidson will turn out to be Carly kirk from season 2 (the missing teenager) and Chloe bishop I believe is tony gates daughter
I actually think the opposite about jo. I think that's she's been forced into a life of working with the the ocg possiblely because her mother may be a part of them
Or Kidnaped
When/where can I watch season 6 in US??
It began streaming on Britbox May 18. Two episodes down so far. 5 to go.
I'm probably only one here but I'm rooting for Jo Davidson
I meant to say the "she" that I refer to is Kate Fleming. Davidson is neck deep in this and will be surprised if she's still alive by episode 4 of this series.
What about Nigel Morton? He dropped the new burner phone for Jo,is he back?
No he didnt did he? It was a big bloke with a beard wasnt it?
@@robread2517
I think under the beard was the actor Neil Morrissey who played said Nigel Morton, could be wrong but with all the references to the first series, just a thought
Kate is still in an AC12 role but not under Hastings.
I think the OCG is using her mother in some way to force Davidson to do what they want cos in first episode she flipped out on the photo of her mum
Hostage.
And all those bolts on her door!
theyve been a bit cavalier with Ryan if his path is to be the new Cotton. any juvenile records would likely be gone/never existes, but mere weeks before joining police he was witnessed killing Clayton in front of about ten trafficed women and members of a temporarily allied gang all of whom could reoccur.
I cant rationalise this behaviour, it just seems like its written for drama without logic, which is not common in LOD.
good point about those “suicide mission” officers yeah
Yeah, I agree on Kate not wanting to blow her cover for AC3 or whoever else it is she's working for. But Ryan knows about Jo and vice versa. That's why she said, that's what happens to rats. She's not accusing her of being corrupt, she's accusing her of trying to rat Jo out. She wouldn't say that to another copper if she was trying to give off the air of being straight. Also, the voice in the recording sounds suspiciously like the lawyer from series 4 who helped get Steve pushed down the stairs.
What about Nigel Morton ? He left the new burner phone for Jo,will we be seeing more of him?
No he didn’t
The voice on the audio file is 100% Jimmy Lakewell from Series 4. Identical voices.
Yes it did
@@jibraeel thanks, don’t remember seeing anything that showed Hastings receiving it?? But if he did he has never mentioned it or used it in any way we know of? Would have thought that list is kryptonite level stuff and it’s strange that it has been suppressed is it not???
@@vanellusx2785 no it did show them getting the list Lindsay sent it then got shot and while that happened they were intervening that old man who was a police officer and a mason and they were about to let him go but Hastings got the list from Lindsay
@@jibraeel ahaaa.....right, thank you we forgot that and were thinking it was really suss if Hastings was sitting on it. Many thanks!!
That Jo is DANGEROUSLY passive aggressive!
Jo's accdent is what it is... that's her normal as far as I can recall. But there again I have worked in Scotland and am not ever fazed by an accent there.
Didn't Hastings give Stephanie £50k at the end of season 5?
Already a lot better than season 5 plot wise and character. Kelly McDonald is amazing. I feel like they are trying to make arnott look guilty of something like the show did with Hastings in season 5. But not as obvious which was a weak point I had with s5.
Philip Osbourne is not chief constable he is chief inspector or at least I thought.
Here my theory
Joe used a burner phone before the raid at the flat where Terry was and set up that armed robbery at the bookies give more time for the OGC unit to murder the main suspect and the chizz given Kate's undercover work at hillside with Ryan at the end picking up Joe in police car then picking up said burner phone
100% sure it's Jimmy Lakewell on the audio tape
By “HMRS”, I’m presuming you mean HMRC?
Why would they be interested in Stephanie’s new TV?
It’s not suspicious that she has a new TV - she got a good insurance/Police payout following John’s death.
Also, will we find out later that Steve pretended to have a back spasm to get Stephanie out of the house (she went to get some pain killers from his car) so as he could have a very quick hunt about it to plant a bug/camera?
Yeah, I misspoke, I meant to say HMRC.
Class bideo
I think Kate is doing that for Andrea but Andrea Is bent
You've got it all wrong. DCC Wise is H. Just wait and see.
