Dan says Monday is the "First day of the Work week" Which is all I really care about. "It's the dumbest thing in the world"... Dan Ryckert said this about this incredibly innocuous minor thing. DAN RYCKERT said this.
Sunday is the first day of the week in a lot of countries including the US. Not only is it first on my android calendar but on google and wikipedia as well for whatever that's worth. Monday is the first work day.
I've seen couple of times a calendar that has shown week starting from Sunday. I would be actually interested to hear what's the logic behind it? As far as ISO standards go there's thousands of them concerning everything from chemical handling, how to calculate company market cap to paper sizes (A, B A4 etc), . They started as a European institution, but are used everywhere outside of North America and parts of South America using their own standards rather than ISO.
I always thought that was a visual clarity thing. If you're doing the most things at weekends, it's easier to read everything you've written in the two boxes if you split the two days up. If they're bunched together, it might be harder to read.
@@JosefStaliner you put them on both sides of a row of books so they don't fall to the left or to the right. putting both bookends on the same side wouldn't work. the endpieces of a loaf of bread are on both ends. a car has a front end and a back end. weekends are that kind of ends.
@@JosefStaliner then why did you ask me how bookends work? you're just moving the goalposts (which are at both ends of the field) to find some arbitrary difference to pin an absolute definition on.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRR DAN! seriously dude chill please. Everyone knows Januar comes before Februar! Also Monda makes more sense as the first day of the week, not Sunda. Y does this bother you so much?
Monday is the first day of the Week. It is the first workday for most people. Also why would people call Saturday+Sunday "The Weekend" if Sunday was the start of the week? I love Dan, but how backwards do you have to be to think that everyone in Europe speaks the same language? Afaik only the United States, Canada and Australia use Sunday as the first day. And those Countries are pretty fucking young compared to everyone else. (Also pretty fucking wrong on most things.)
I realize this is an old comment now, but better question is why would you cap a week with 2 days? With Sunday being the first day of the week you then get Saturday being the end and Sunday being the beginning of the week (i.e. the ends)
RekiWylls Sunday is the start of the week. The only people who say Monday are like two countries in the world. Why Vinny took that as truth is beyond me.

"European is not a language" - Vinny
"I think it's in Scandinavian" - Vinny two minutes later
This is the peak Ryckert.
"This is wrong. Look it up and you'll see I'm right."
"Google says this."
"Oh, I'm right and that's wrong."

Tyrest Accord. Vinny is letting his Transformers geekdom shine through
Dan’s farming. He likes Daylight Savings time changes, too.
Jeremiah would never voice outrageous and ignorant opinions like this.
A good rule of thumb is to just assume that everything that comes out of Dan is wrong.

Scandinavian is not a language nor a country.
It's called the weekEND for a reason.
where do you put bookends?
@@ce7.0 What are you using bookends for?
@@JosefStaliner you put them on both sides of a row of books so they don't fall to the left or to the right. putting both bookends on the same side wouldn't work. the endpieces of a loaf of bread are on both ends. a car has a front end and a back end. weekends are that kind of ends.
@@ce7.0 You use ends in that way when there is no flow of time. Weeks move forwards, hence weekEND implies the end of the week not the beginning.

Why are people booing him? He's right!
I'm surprised, being a part of CBSI, the idea of a Broadcast Calendar never came up. They begin with Monday.
This video is brought to you by 'American stereotype'.
Never heard someone say that Sunday is the start of the week, bizarre.
This is a new type of extreme density.
It’s called I Love Mondays not I Love Sunday’s.
Because Monday is the start of the work week!
There's an ISO standard because of people like Dan annoying the rest of us.

Sunday is the day of rest; God rested on the seventh day. Read your bible, heathens.
Then again, the Sabbath is on Saturday...
Saturday and Sunday are called the weekend. So Sunday is the last day of the week.
They changed the first day of the week to monday to tell you that work is more important than community/religion
I bet while growing up Dans Parents and probably quite a few teachers had to frequently tell other children "be nice to Danny, he's... special".
If you think that Sunday is the first day of the week, then you also have to accept that Sunday isn't part of the weekEND.
no you don't. because weekend can be end caps to the week.
partybarge But then they'd be the weekends, no? Saturday would be one weekend, and Sunday the other.
THANK YOU
Donna it's weekend like bookend, not like end of the week. Bookends separate the ends of one book and another in a row. Weekends do the same thing.
Donna There is a day of the weekend at both ends of the week. Sunday is on one end, Saturday is on the other.

He sure stuck by that "New Dan" thing, didn't he
Tim Collins well, he did a DBZ podcast. That was unexpected.
Sunday is the 'Weekend'. Monday is the first day. If you think Sunday is part of the 'Weekend' then you agree with me.
How do bookends work, my guy?
First day of the week isn't used for anything, therefore it doesn't matter.
If you tell someone "Starting next week" then that mean something starts on sunday by your logic.
