Gta makes enough money off microtransactions. They should just keep to their new shark card (or what ever they want to call it) and release the game at the $70.
the problem is that most games today doesn't deserve the full price tag from the pov of gamers, if they want to make profit they should start to cut cost on unnecessary things. Don't hire hollywood actors, stop chasing live service at a loss, don't let studio drowned for ten years on dev hell for nothings in the end, etc..
The difference between movie tickets and games is the amount of people going to the movies is reducing. Look at max game sales figures in 2000 compared to 2024 Yes games haven't got more expensive to buy, but the amount of people buying games has massively increased. The highest selling game in 2000 was Pokémon stadium, with 1.7 million sales. Helldivers 2 sold 12 million copies. Then you have the dlc, micro transactions, different editions. How much does rockstar make selling shark cards? No reason games should be $100.
It would also be nice if devs knew how to appropriately budget things again so games didn't cost millions upon millions of dollars to develop and call for these outrageous retail prices

What they fail to realize is the only reasons people would willingly pay the $100 for GTA 6 is cause they know it'll be worth the price already just going off R* track record (excluding the remasters a few years ago 🤮). Other companies are NOT going to get the same reception from the consumers if they are the type of company who has issues and buggy releases more often than not. $80 to $100 for the base game, right? Now, imagine how much the deluxe or "complete" edition of the game will cost. We live in an era where nearly every big triple A game gets like 2 to 3 different versions of it at varying prices! This is so disappointing to see, but in a messed up way, I can actually understand where they are coming from. Honestly, even if I do get the money for GTA VI I'll gladly just watch videos covering the game instead of even thinking about dropping nearly over $100 (with taxes of course) for a single game that could end up as a disappointment! It just aint worth it.
I can think of very few games that are even worth the $70 RN! All the improvements in graphics and all the money spent on it and the gameplay, mechanics, story still be BUTT
They refused to listen to us in regards to content for rdr2 and now this?! People will straight up not buy it, and ya know i wouldnt mind seeing rockstar tank for this shit tbfh. They cater to no one but their pockets.
If Take-Two were to do this (which they won't), GTA is probably one of the few games that could get away with it. Also, considering how well $100 (or more) collectors editions and whatnot sell, they could go that route. The interval between a price hike in the games industry has been historically vast. I can remember the jump from rather lengthy interval of games being $50 to $60 and how much of a reactionary outrage that was, as well as the more recent $70 hike. As with the last two price hikes, if the market allows it (i.e. consumers willing to pay whatever amount), it will come to pass.
Only 2 games I’ve played that I would pay $100 for are Persona 5 and BG3. And that’s ONLY in retrospect because now I know they’re my 2 favorite games of all time. I ain’t paying that for GTA. I really don’t care that much about it
I mean to be fair--to be very very very very fair. A lot of people who bought shark cards probably already spent $100 on gta 5. If NOT more. Not me, per se. But also same thing for kickstarters, if squeenix said they were doing a chrono trigger hd-2d remake, i'd be laying out the wallet. Unfortunately values in the eye of the beholder. Similar to how we're all paying $70 now for new ps5/series games (or even tears of the kingdom, i think one of the only if only switch games that was $70) Devils advocate, if the game proves itself a 10 outta 10 game on day 1--those who want it will shell out the money and everyone else will still get it when it catches a black friday sale.
GTA can absolutely get away with a $100 price nobody else will be able to get that off without it being a deluxe so no that shouldn’t be the standard people don’t have that kind of money I’m sure.
Wait, so games should be more expensive, but shouldn't they also be not broken on launch requiring a 1000 patches , having expansions declared before the game is even out. I wonder what the pricing tiers would be 100$ for the base , 130$ for the deluxe and 170$ for the premium edition (best value). Which includes a 5 page art book and 3 napkins 😂😂😂
gta 6 is probably the only game i would pay $100 for but i really dont like how every single other company will raise their shi to $100 like no buddy ur not rockstar sit yo ah down
Why is it that games take away things from the game and bring them back like they’re new instead of building on top of it and improving? Makes no sense and they mess it up when they bring the 💩 back lol. Saints Row would’ve been killing GTA if they stayed on the saints row 2 path. GTA didn’t want that.
The only game that could make me spend $100 on it is Monster Hunter all these other companies can kick rocks I'll wait for a sale. The problem isn't raising the price it's all these damn budgets being so high I'm gonna keep bringing up Spider-Man 2 cause that game doesn't compare to the 1st game content wise yet it costs more. Idc if the company's want more money they're fuckin up
No shot, I enjoy GTA and am sure Rockstar will deliver but $100 is way too much for any game. When games went up to $70 for this gen to justify costs, almost none have delivered for the price and the ones that have cannot bear the weight of justifying the cost for all the others imo.
Yeah, I think ONLY GTA6 could be justified at $100. It's a very big game drop. With, what, over 10 years of anticipation time. GTA/Red Dead has 100s of hours of game time, and that's not even adding online time. If the industry follows suit they would be very disappointed at the outcome.
Well looks like ima wait a year or more to play it during a sale because i refuse to throw $100 at any form of media when the rich billion dollar companies are already thriving and dont need to do that. Games are expensive to make yes, but most of them are ass already so that money they spend doesnt translate to a good product. Anybody who ranks on anybody or accuses them of being broke for not spending money that doesnt reflect a good value is just simply missing a few chromosomes and has no will power
The mofos will do it. They are waiting for a big game like GtA 6 to do it and then use it as an excuse to up the price of all future games. F this man, they will make the digital version $80 then… cause it is all about “make people own nothing”
As long as you still have folks that will just act like certified ball lickers for the company nothing will never change. I’ve been saying and not the only one, 2K needs an attitude adjustment and look how far and bad these snarky arrogant bastards have gotten. At a point of no return now, you got the community to blame for that. Paying all this money for some half ahh bull💩. They’ve messed up basketball and GTA and still want all the money.
Im more mad that they are still releasing the pc version at a later date, i think gamers should boycott it because there doing this terrible lractice a 3rd time
I will never pay 100 for a game I have never in my life bought a game for full price and I have around 400 games and I like gta but I am not interested in gta 6 I will not be buying it when games start selling for $100 I will no longer be buying games
I'm sorry, but the "amusement park" argument is arguably a strawman. A better comparison would be taking your significant other out to dinner. I can't take my girlfriend out to a decent restaurant for less than 100$, most of the dating world is the same (in America). Most couples also go out once a month or every other month. So if you buy a game that you enjoy for say, 6 months to a year. Comparatively, to a dinner you'll eat for day 1 hour 30 minutes (obviously mostly sitting and enjoying your significant others company), say 4 hours before your kinda hungry again. The game is probably worth it realistically, people just aren't use to paying that much, so they complain. And I get that, I don't generally WANT to spend that much money on a game, or anything. But I also recognize when some things are worth the money. For example, Monster Hunter Wilds, I love Monster Hunter, have for over 15 years. I don't care if the game is only 70$, I'm buying the 100$ version, cause I think it's worth it cause I'll play it for at least 3 years. Grand Theft Auto 5 has a 10 year life span of a string player base. It'll probably be worth the money. And if I'm being honest, no other game company would deserve a base of 100$ more than Rockstar.
Would you get GTA 6 if it was $100?

They refused to listen to us in regards to content for rdr2 and now this?! People will straight up not buy it, and ya know i wouldnt mind seeing rockstar tank for this shit tbfh. They cater to no one but their pockets.
So out of the millions of people wo love GTA, you really think you can make a difference here? lol, Dude, I would pay $150 for the game.
@@smokinjoe4709ngl gang u trippin 😂
@ I just paid $108 for Civ7 deluxe. GTA 6 will be much better game than civ7. $100 is like 3 hours at work...cheap.
I really don’t care that much about it
$100 for a persona game is stupid even if it is your favourite. Persona games are nowhere near worth $100 even if your a big fanboy.
They can do whatever they want. I have enough self control not to buy any game brand new. Used or on sale. Other than that I can wait.
70 Single player
Don’t drop the multiplayer update for about 30 bucks five months later
Sometimes, price spikes leads to easier pirating. Just saying
Lmao yall gone play this game for 20 years this time
Exactly! That's why it is easily worth $100.
Not necessarily. If less people buy your game at a $100 orice, you can still make way more money
gta 6 is probably the only game i would pay $100 for but i really dont like how every single other company will raise their shi to $100 like no buddy ur not rockstar sit yo ah down
People will pay 100 dollars Cus of different editions they should still keep the base version
Why is it that games take away things from the game and bring them back like they’re new instead of building on top of it and improving? Makes no sense and they mess it up when they bring the 💩 back lol. Saints Row would’ve been killing GTA if they stayed on the saints row 2 path. GTA didn’t want that.
That's some stupid shit they could sell this game for 15 bucks and it would still make them all the money in the world. Tf they thinking ?
The only game that could make me spend $100 on it is Monster Hunter all these other companies can kick rocks I'll wait for a sale. The problem isn't raising the price it's all these damn budgets being so high I'm gonna keep bringing up Spider-Man 2 cause that game doesn't compare to the 1st game content wise yet it costs more. Idc if the company's want more money they're fuckin up
Watch GTA 6 come out asking for 100$ and it’s still not completely finished when u get it. Still need work done to it 😂.
As long as Rockstar doesn't do it, I don't care what other dickheads want in terms of prices for VI. Industry is bugging for that take.
I just pre-ordered WWE 2K25 for $130 after just one trailer that I wasn't even all that impressed by, so I know I'm a part of the problem
No shot, I enjoy GTA and am sure Rockstar will deliver but $100 is way too much for any game. When games went up to $70 for this gen to justify costs, almost none have delivered for the price and the ones that have cannot bear the weight of justifying the cost for all the others imo.
Sad thing is ppl will actually pay for it because ppl been waiting/biggest game of the year 😢
GTA Is The Only "Base" Game I'll Pay $100 For 🤷🏾♂️
$100 for unfinished and broken games at launch 🤦🏻♂️
I think $100 for GTA 6 isnt bad but every game isnt worth $100
Gamers Brought This On Ourselves Buying Skins And Dlcs That Should Have Been in The Game
lol imagine the people at the top just being stupid and greedy and saying ya know what. Let’s make it worse 😂
The mofos will do it.
They are waiting for a big game like GtA 6 to do it and then use it as an excuse to up the price of all future games. F this man, they will make the digital version $80 then… cause it is all about “make people own nothing”
Another video game crash will happen like in the 80s
As long as you still have folks that will just act like certified ball lickers for the company nothing will never change. I’ve been saying and not the only one, 2K needs an attitude adjustment and look how far and bad these snarky arrogant bastards have gotten. At a point of no return now, you got the community to blame for that. Paying all this money for some half ahh bull💩. They’ve messed up basketball and GTA and still want all the money.
Luckily I got PS plus with games i was stock piled 3 years ago. I'm good don't need GTA six
Australians already paying $100 for base games hahahha ya'll aint seen nothing. We will have to pay $120-$130 if that happens here
I’ll do $100 just double my salary bro
Im more mad that they are still releasing the pc version at a later date, i think gamers should boycott it because there doing this terrible lractice a 3rd time
I will never pay 100 for a game I have never in my life bought a game for full price and I have around 400 games and I like gta but I am not interested in gta 6 I will not be buying it when games start selling for $100 I will no longer be buying games
This is a waste of 15 mins! They will make it $100 & dummies will buy it.
I have paid more for collectors edition this ant gonna stop me
I'm sorry, but the "amusement park" argument is arguably a strawman.
Gta only get the pass
