As dim as Luffy may usually be portrayed, he has moments where he shows more _emotional_ intelligence than just about any other character. He recognized Momo as the heir and future leader of the samurai, so he felt his words carried the most weight, despite his age. It reminds me of when he had that fight with Vivi at Alabasta (another future ruler, coincidentally).... he just knows how to cut to the heart of the matter in his own unique way. That's part of what makes him such an endearing main character, IMO. 😉

Ngl, the absence of the score overtop really brings out just how excellent the voice acting is, and in doing so, I've come to appreciate Luffy's dialogue with Momo in this scene more than ever. From witnessing the Minks resolve to never sell out their friends, to not patronizing crybaby Momo, treating him like an equal, and pushing him to suck it up and be the man. Its like we've seen this before but with the shoe on the other foot. Almost makes ya wanna.....😂

Remember, Luffy and the Straw Hats have killed numerous people. Usually off-screen of course and non-named characters. But all those WG officials who Luffy knocked off Enes Lobby won't be surviving that whirlpool. All those fodder characters Zoro cut up won't be surviving their infections/blood loss.
