  • There's been a lot of action at Kauffman Stadium this offseason, including an upgrade to Crown Vision and a new video board in left field. Check out this timelapse and we'll see you at the K this season! #TogetherRoyal
“We are very excited to bring these new and improved video boards to our fans at Kauffman Stadium,” said Royals Chairman and CEO John Sherman. “We believe everyone will enjoy the enhanced HDR presentation of Crown Vision while the new Hall of Fame board will provide great entertainment possibilities together with dynamic ways for our corporate sponsors to connect with our fans. We can’t wait to welcome our fans back to The K next season to share these new experiences together.”
“The improved resolution of the Crown Vision and fence displays, along with the addition of the Hall of Fame display, will have a major positive impact on the fan experience at Kauffman Stadium,” said Daktronics President and CEO Reece Kurtenbach. “We’re excited to continue our longstanding partnership with the Kansas City Royals and to update the display we installed prior to the 2008 season. The advancement in technology over the years, including HDR capability, will certainly be on display and entertaining their fans for years to come.”
Crown Vision’s video board will be upgraded to High Dynamic Range (HDR) which will be the fourth largest HDR videoboard in baseball, and the tallest HDR board in baseball or football. Pixels will increase by 138% allowing the human eye to see over a billion colors, thus allowing more contrast and a clearer picture. The board will be 105 feet by 85 feet. The process will take approximately a total of six weeks to complete. The previous HD board debuted before the 2008 season.
The Royals Hall of Fame board will be five times taller than the ribbon board that is currently in place, making it 20.5 feet by 108 feet, offering 2,200 square feet of screen and displaying over 900,000 pixels. Structural work will be done to change the field-facing surface of the Hall of Fame prior to the installation of the new board. The buildout and installation will take approximately one month to complete.
The outfield wall boards will be upgraded in resolution to a brighter, sharper image. The display will bring 700,000 pixels to those walls.
The Royals will be the second ballpark in Major League Baseball to use Daktronics SMD technology which will allow for wider viewing angles and outstanding color blending.

I’m not a Royals fan, but that’s a beautiful park with a lot of history. With that said, I can’t understand for the life of me why they’re even considering leaving it especially for another me-too downtown stadium. They should try to embrace the things that make them unique instead of trying to copy everyone else.

They put enough money into it that they could probably stay.

Kauffman Stadium had a year off of sorts in 2020. But adding upgrades before fans return in 2021 is a great way to increase interest and attract people to the park!

There’s something about this stadium but I can’t explain it. Kansas City is a very pretty and unique stadium maybe they should stay at the K and just try to keep renovating it.

Being at Game 1 of 2014 WS with my family. Game didn't go as planned, but it was great to be there with my wife and boys. Tied with watching George Brett play from the nose bleed seats with my Grandpa.

This stadium is perfectly fine as is and the voters of Jackson County feel the same way.
Screw Mark Sherman and Clark Hunt for threatening our marvelous county with the threat of leaving because WE THE PEOPLE don't want to cough up more money to greedy, insufferable billionaires.

See!!!! Instead of wasting millions and billions on new stadiums that are less than twenty years old just refurbish!!! .
Arrowhead and Kaufman stadium are built in the early seventies and are still the highest In capacity and modernization.
Here in Buffalo New York our football stadium ( rich stadium) was built in 1972.
But sooooo many times we have been threatened with our beloved Buffalo Bills relocation but we have kept the stadium modern and is oñe of the biggest in the nfl.
Its a very intimidating stadium for opposition to play just ask john elway
He asked the referees to have the fans to quiet down 😆🤣.
Why loose all that history and traditions by moving into a new stadium is upsetting to me as long as you keep the stadium serviceable whats the problem?????
Please be kind to each other life is too short for living in hate.
    Greetings from Buffalo New York
